[80 years ago today] "• The first Consolidated B-24As are flown across the Atlantic and delivered to the RAF. Ordered and purchased by the French in early 1940, Prime Minister Paul Reynaud authorized transfer of all weapons and equipment purchased from the United States to Britain right before he was replaced by Pétain. Designated the Liberator Mark-I, they will be allocated to Coastal Command after a bitter fight between that organization and Bomber Command.
