Hanu 328
Today 6th of December it is our Independence Day and thus 103th anniversary here in Finland! 💪🍾 To honor that I'll start to release my massive project I've been working on several months by studying and by skinning. And learning. And fixing and reskinning. You know the drill... Previously I've released a skin here other there, trying to be historic, and succeeding more or less. I've had good feedback that have pointed out several errors in skins and working methods also. Thank you guys and other skinners and especially you superstars who create these templates! ICDP, BlackHellHound and Kruger mostly, but not only. I've skinned these as historic as possible. Exact versions are naturally a problem where some compromises had to be done, like in Hurricane. Of course some guesswork had to be done, but that is done after research and consultation. There may be some errors left, some debatable decisions, but more of that later in the subsections: Update 10th December: added several generic skins as requsted. NOTE: GREEN = Released YELLOW = Will be released soon RED = Awaiting for the template BLUE = In maintenance NOTE2: Please report any errors you see, I've had only couple of testers so there are easilly some mapping issues. Thanks to szelljr for pointing out some of those. Messerschmitt Bf-109 G2 (10 skins + generic) Spoiler Skins are here: https://1drv.ms/u/s!Ai1G8Nbf5lNHgpsPGSTk7-S98rOJUQ?e=ushoHB And the story behind the planes & preview ================================================================================================================================== MT-201 Werknummer 14718. Riihikallio after planes transfer to HLeLv 24) Notes: This just a overpainted re-skin of a default Riihikallio skin made by BlackHellHound, so praises if any, towards that direction. I've just reskinned this to fix incorrectly colored insignias as they were darkened at this point. Also added some missing stencils and tuned the weathering. The point is not to compete with BHH, but to bring other version of MT-213 to game. ================================================================================================================================== MT-215 Werknummer: 14783 Flight time: 52.30h Air victories: 2 Time: May '43, 1/LLv34 at Malmi User: MSG Eino Peltola Notes: was destroyed 29th July 1943 when engine caught fire during the flight. ================================================================================================================================== MT-222 Werknummer: 13528 Flight time: 84.45h Air victories: 17 Time: May 1943 at Malmi User: SGM Ilmari Juutilainen Notes: The "Ace" was painted in the plane only for a day or so. It was overpainted immediately when Co. Major Luukkanen found out what mechanics had done. "We do not need to tell the enemy that who is flying the plane!". Another speciality about painting is the yellow band in the fuselage that is in different place than normal. ================================================================================================================================== MT-227 Werknummer: 13736 Flight time: 113.30h Air victories: 9 Time: June 1943, 2/LLv34 at Utti User: MSG Niilo Erkinheimo Notes: MT-227 has a grim history with the next one, MT-229. 17th of June 1944 MT-227 was shot down, pilot Ltn. Urho Sarjamo was killed. The plane fell through the clouds with one wing and cut through MT-229 fuselage. Mannerheim-Cross holder Ltn. Lauri Nissinen was killed in that plane. ================================================================================================================================== MT-229 Werknummer: 13993 Flight time: 127.50h Air victories: 14 Time: June '43, 3/LLv 34 at Utti User: Ltn. Total amount was 20 victories for MT-415. Survived the war and timed quite stunning amount of 591h 45mins of flight time. NOTE: real MT-415 had a tall tail and early heavily-framed canopy, but this was too interesting plane, so I chose to use G6 early model for it anyway The historic skin is nowadays published in G6 Late section MT-416, WNr. 411704, Used by 3/HHLeLv 34, pilot Msg A. Nuorala who scored 6/10 of MT-416's victories. It's war-path ended in 29.6.1944 when Nuorala landed on the soft part of the runway and MT-416 was flipped over. Later repaired and total flight time was 298h 50min. MT-423, WNr. 412122. Belonged to 1/HHLeLv 34, Msg. H.Leino. 4 different pilots scored one victory each with MT-423. 30th of June the other landing gear did not come out and Leino had to do forced landing. MT-423 did not make it to war anymore, but was repaired and total flight time was 306h 25min. It was decorated with the HLeLv 34's Eagle logo in the rudder. NOTE: real MT-423 had a tall tail and early heavily-framed canopy like MT-415. The historic skin is nowadays published in G6 Late section MT-437, WNr. 163627 Used by 3/HHLeLv 24, pilot Msg. L.Ahokas. 4 air victories, 2 scored by Sgt K.Keskinummi. Was damaged during air combat and was sent to repairs, but did not make it in time to fly in war anymore. Flight time 310h 30min. Was equipped with Trop air filter. Tail rudder has HLeLv 24's very rare "Lynx" logo. MT-453, WNr. 165274 Used by 1/HHLeLv 34, pilot Msg. O.Länsivaara. 5 air victories. Was equipped with 20mm gunpods. WO Antti Tani scored 3 IL-2's in one sortie with this plane. Survived the war. Flight time 300h. Was equipped with Trop air filter. MT-482, WNr. 165185 Belonged to 3/HHLeLv 34, pilot 1st Ltn. L.Lehtonen. No air victories. Survived the war. Flight time 300h. Was equipped with Trop air filter. MT-483, WNr. 710012 Used by 1/HHLeLv 24, pilot Cpt. A.Lassila. No air victories with MT-483. Survived the war. Flight time 250h. She was actually G-8 without cameras, but still portrayed here as the model of the plane was correct. Actually a bit smaller DC-2, but he had way too interesting history, so I decided to paint him here regardless. He has his second "Sotamaalaus" Built on California, and completed in January 1935. He served as a passenger plane for KLM by name "De Haan" (Rooster). At May 1935 he opened a new route Amsterdam-Frankfurt-Am-Main-Milano, Soon after that he was transferred to Amsterdam-Batavia (Jakarta) route, which was longest route at the time. He flew 5072 hours for the KLM. Swedish count Carl Gustav von Rosen (son of Eric von Rosen, the man who donated the first plane to Finnish air Force in 1918, thus his family symbol was used FAF's national insignia) bought the plane, converted it to bomber configuration with two machine-guns and flew it to Finland to be used as a bomber in LLv44. He was here named as Hanssin-Jukka mistakenly after puukkojunkkari (~Knife-fighter, troblemaker) Anssin-Junkka. He made his only bombing sortie 1st of March 1940, piloted by Von Rosen himself. Returning with only one engine he went to maintenance and Winter War ended. During continuation was he was used in many roles. He supported General Lagus's troops during summer-autumn 1941, tranferred pilots and mechanics to Germany to fetch planes and training, evaquation flights and VIP flights. You could say he was "Air Force One" during that time. He flew until 1st of June 1955 with 7579 hrs of flight time. Right after the war he was destined to be scrapped because of peace-terms, where Finns we not allowed to have any bomber planes (what is a better way to say that "Damn you Finns, you bomber force was WAY too effective" 😉), but he was saved as we managed to prove that he was a transport plane. in 1955 he was destined to be scrapped again, but luckily he was saved by Osmo Rantala (Ju-88 pilot during the war). He was a landmark in Hämeenlinna when he was used as a Cafe from 1959 to 1981. Once again destined to be scrapped in 1983, he was saved 3rd time by Guild of Karelian Wing and donated to Museum. Restoration was done during 2010-2011 and now he is on display at shopping centre Tuulonen (61° 6′ 21.66″ N, 24° 51′ 52.01″ E) Download here:https://1drv.ms/u/s!Ai1G8Nbf5lNHgp0NafXn7Y5B2Xj8_Q?e=l85Mga Hurricane Mk. II (3 skins + generic) Spoiler Finns had 13 Hurricanes during the Continuation War. 12 of those were Mk I and one was war-booty Mk IIA. I chose to skin those Mk. I's also just because Hurricane is such a nice plane to fly and I do not believe, we'll get Mk. I any time soon. Update 7.12.2020, fixed the wing textures with cannon armament The skins can be downloaded here: https://1drv.ms/f/s!Ai1G8Nbf5lNHgpxHHgVozBJlmQiLHA The planes are ====================================================================================================================== HC-452 (Hurricane Mk. I-16 (1 skin) awaiting 4k template Spoiler Ju-88 (23 skins + 2 generics) Spoiler This is definitely my biggest and proudest project here. 23 Ju-88's. It means that EVERY Ju-88 that arrived in Finland has been accounted for! Previously I released 8 Ju-88's and felt that they were successful and liked so I turned my nose back to books, historic forums, historic video material... I decided to skin as many Ju-88's I could find a reference about markings... In the end I was more successful that I had imagined; I had at least some sort of photo of almost every Ju-88 that arrived in Finland! From JK-251 to JK-273, excluding JK-263! JK-274 was also officially named, but she suffered engine malfunction 23.4.1944 above Riga and crashed taking the crew with him. Thus it was natural to leave JK-274 out. JK-263 and JK-269 were a problem; I had only picture of JK-269 hull and none of JK-263. But educated guess suggests that JK-263 had "Yellow 5" in his tail as he inherited JK-268's place in the 3/LLv44. 3/LLv44 user yellow spinners, so I decided that I can go on with this information. JK-269 arrived to 4/LLv44 at the same day as JK-270, who received "White 2", so it is quite ok to assume JK-269 had "White 1" as no other plane had that number. Again the spinners were while donuts at that time so I thought that this will suffice. Most Finnish JK's had the original german painting during their service. Every plane had german transfer codes painted to hull. Those and german markings were normally washed or sometimes overpainted; sometimes quite crudely. They are somewhat visible, and if possible, the same way overpainted as in the picture I've found. Of course I had to guess many times, but still. Underside markings were normally overpainted with white color. However several JK's got the official "Sotamaalaus" during bigger maintenance. I've preferred the Sotamaalaus as long as it war wartime paint (JK-263 and JK-252 were painted too late, so they are represented with old painting) I'll most likely update these when 4k template arrives as these need 4k bump-map The skins are here:https://1drv.ms/u/s!Ai1G8Nbf5lNHgp1k1RUtlxhLT680KA?e=o0lZz7 And details about the planes: JK-251 WNr 088 3880, transfer registration GB+YJ. 1/LLv44 had "laughing man" emblem in the nose, spinners were 1/3-blue-RLM70 and 1/3-RLM65-RLM70. Was destroyed 1.7.1944 when he was caught in the prop-wash of the leading plane, entered spin and crashed into the lake in Liperi. All crew lost. Was later recovered and the hull was melted to key-fob's and sold to collect money for the veterans. (My avatar is a picture of that). Among the killed was Mannerheim-Cross holder Cpt. Tauno Iisalo. Flight time 383h 55min. The infamous "*Lavansaaren revohka" = a disastrous attack against Lavansaari airbase at 18.9.1943. Bad weather was the main reason that 7 (!!!) JK's were damaged in landings. Most of the planes were out of service almost a year and were JUST in time to participate the decisive battle during Summer '44. LaGG-3 (2 skins) Spoiler Finns had 3 LaGG-3's. As they were faster than Brewster and we had no Messerscmitt's yet, the plan was to use LaGG-3's to catch the irritating Pe-2 scouts. This plan was unsuccesful even after several attempts as the were lots of engine- and weapons malfunctions with LaGG-3's. 45 combat flights were performed with LaGG'3's, with 1 air victory. Madcop 83
Hello HANU Many thanks for those well researched aircrafts. There is a little mishap in the Bf 109G-6 Late ZIP file. MT-423-G-Leino.dds when open is actually MT-405-G-Karhila.dds MT-435-E-Lehto.dds when open is actually MT-449-E-Puro.dds There is no MT-423 White 3, nor MT-435 White 1 to find in the ZIP. Please could you check this in this otherwise wonderfull bundle . Thanks a lot. Congratulations. MADCOP

LeLv30_Redwing 369
Wonderful work Hanu and writing those details for individual planes gives them a "personality". Jatka samaan malliin!
Juri_JS 1681
Great skin packs. They will be very useful when we get the Finland map. But please add a few more generic skins.

You need to "duplicate " the black camo in this wing parts ( using gun mods*) Damn, you're right! That part of extra cannons texture I've missed. Thanks! That will take some time to fix. Also I found another one on HC-454 with it's extra MG's. I had to redo whole black pattern as it was so different to others and thus old already solved problem re-emerged. Hurricane is one tricky plane to skin 😅 47 minutes ago, Juri_JS said: Great skin packs. They will be very useful when we get the Finland map. But please add a few more generic skins. I not fond of those generic skins myself, but I see your point. I will do that when time permits and update the packs. 1 hour ago, LeLv30_Redwing said: Wonderful work Hanu and writing those details for individual planes gives them a "personality". Jatka samaan malliin! Thanks, that is my point exactly, I'll keep updating those. For example MT-227 and MT-229's story was a "lucky" co-incidence I was not planning beforehand when I selected those for skinning. The true story behind their final fate is just incredible.

Hanu 328
Added 2 LaGG-3's, a U-2, a Ju-52 and the only P-40 Finn's had. And fixed the Hurricanes earlier this day also. BUT the most important; My definitely my biggest and proudest project here... 23 historic Ju-88's in 4k! It means that EVERY Ju-88 that arrived in Finland has been accounted for! Previously I released 8 Ju-88's and felt that they were successful and liked so I turned my nose back to books, historic forums, historic video material... I decided to skin as many Ju-88's I could find a reference about markings... In the end I was more successful in the research that I had imagined; I had at least some sort of photo of almost every Ju-88 that arrived in Finland! From JK-251 to JK-273, excluding JK-263! JK-274 was also officially named, but she suffered engine malfunction 23.4.1944 above Riga and crashed taking the crew with him. Thus it was natural to leave JK-274 out. But do not lurk in this post any more, go check those out in the first post and all the pics. 😁 Edited December 7, 2020 by Hanu Added Ju-88 info 5

Hanu 328
Added DC-2 "Hanssin-Jukka" after C-47 template with his wonderful 85-year history. Hand-painted year 1943 camo-pattern. Some compromises had to be made because of different size and door configuration, but still very very much historic skin. 5
