Well then don't fly on enhanced spotting servers.

I personally don't think it's going to be just on enhanced spotting servers because on normal visibility I can very easily spot contacts from 10 km and beyond. This unfortunately comes down to a multitudes of different sets and equipment that folks are using. I think that bombing and ground attack has now become very much more of a challenge than before. And if we are mad enough to fly unescorted (which we do a lot) its going to be a turkey shoot. As for 110's I think it's going to have to be nap of the earth flying all the way to target and back. 

Having said all of that, I know that the huge amount of work carried out by the devs will be very welcomed by the majority of the community.

nah, man, it's just FUD. The visibility was great before the 3.x or 4.x updates that broke it and the gameplay was fine, i.e. tactics/strategy worked then. It won't be any different this time except people will just need to re-learn their old ways.

I'm witholding judgement until I can fly a large number of attack sorties and compare outcomes.

 

But my feeling in general is that the spotting before did not give much advantage, if any, to the attacker in terms of getting home. The enemy was more likely to spot you than you were to spot them because the flak  or your own ordnance would expose your position. Then, if you were under attack, any friendly escort or air cover could have trouble seeing the enemy fighter you were dealing with or even seeing you until they opened fire. In most cases, friendly air cover was usually  able to avenge me, not protect me.

Well i have to give my thanks to the devs today. I am finally able to see the aircraft i`m escorting to target and back home. 

Aircrafts are more easy to discover then they used to, and when i`m chasing an fighter and check my six and turn back to the fighter he is still there

and haven`t disappeard to the background like he used to do before this update.

 

Airplanes are still difficult to discover if their camoflage are used to their advantage, but this update have certainty been an improvement concerning spotting of aircraft.

 

Some members of the community here might feel different, that it has been to easy to spot aircraft, but for my part it has been better, and i don`t have to strain my eyes looking 

for enemys/targets/allies.

At least that is my own humble opinion regarding this update. :thank_you:

With the new patch, oculus s, 1 on 1 mission, enemy plane is totally invisible till it reaches 600m away from me and then it just pops up. Its totally invisible  out of the 600m range...

If you can, record a track of this happening and post it with your full system specs in the Technical Issues part of the forum.

 Maybe when flying attackers/bombers now you have to fly together, in lathe formations, and plan a better route to target ... You know ... The way they actually had to do to increasing their odds of survival against fighters.

I will also see how it pans out for the bomber and ground attack flyers in the long run. As I said, I think many folks are certainly going to be very happy with the results of the updates to spotting.

Hi

Very good stuff, with new aircraft spotting, LOD scale system, new 'Wind of Fury "campaign and 4K skins for P-39L-1 "Aircrobra" and Bf 109 G-6.

 

Is there any reason why the pilot model of P-39L-1 is the old one? ... the same for other aircraft.

Incredible. I can now see planes in the distance before they even show on the map or the icons show. Also easier to see where planes are around me when I have a look. Fantastic job.

i have some questions does tank gunner turret control with joystick was implemented? if so how do you set up to work?

because i cant use joystick for turret control or shooting. i able to use mouse for rotating and shooting i can use throttle to drive but not joystick for turret. if anyone have explanation or tip i would appreciate

You have to map the direct mode turret control actions to your joystick in the key mapping settings and change the tank turret control mode to 'Joystick' in the 'Input Devices' menu.

It's working for me but the axis are reversed and reversing them in the controls setting appears to do nothing

Hello, have you checked your options in Control devices? You will find and option here to use the mouse or the Joy for the turret. Mapping in key mapping without this won't do a thing!

Nothing is changed in the G-model of the pilot, though... ))

Truly excited to try out my baseline spotting-test mission in VR with my Stalingrad Playground and these improvements tonight!   

 

Speaking of which, thanks for the heads-up on rebuilding mission binaries.

i found it, it is located in input devices, tank control mouse or joystick, thanks.

Beware, this version (4.501) renders 4.009 tracks obsolete. So you must backup your game and only run the backup in offline mode if you want access to the old tracks.

Thanks for the update guys; much appreciated. Really enjoying the Tempest campaign and operating the tank turrets with the joystick.
