[MOD request] Prop Texture

Good Day Gents

 

I have lately realized that the prop texture is a little bit off. It appears as a solid shiny disk with sharply defined radius which to me just does not feel right.  I noticed on another sim the prop appears to be more convincing and adds a little bit more to the immersion factor. Below is an example. Would anyone be up to providing us with a similarly modified prop texture? 

 

PS - Top 2 pic is the better prop texture. Bottom pic is the existing texture in IL2.

Also, if I may add to this topic, it would be great to have a cinematic option for the propeller in slow motion. Currently when the footage is slowed down it keeps the same disk shape throughout.... a blurred circle.

 

It would be nice if when the game speed was slowed down, so was the prop disk.

Just wondering if it is possible to add different prop shapes for different game-speeds. This makes much better screenshots....and it is only a request, thanks, MP

I like Mysticpumas idea too (except I think it should not be less that 1/8th texture):good:.

 

Out of desperation I have attached the prop texture from the above said P51 (thanks to Shadoh from another forum). Is it possible to use it on the Spit and if so, how to do it?:bye:

Would love to see the prop disc improved in the game as it doesn't look great, shame there doesn't seem to be anyway to mod it.

It is easy to change. In each aircrafts texture folder there will be a texture named AIRCRAFTNAME_blr.dds. Most changes should be done to alpha channel.

Excellent thanks. Though there doesn't seem to be a _blr.dds file in the texture folders, only a _B.dds.

Thats because you have to UNgtp the GTP files.  But indeed the whole prop design is rather ridicules made, while forcing the propeller to act properly, the rockers of the engine are moving strangely, think the best way is to make the whole prop not visible during the flight.

I will disagree, I would much prefer a cinematic Prop for film makers to have a choice to use 😍

If that could be possible,(= your idea of prop as an function of the engine revs), only I think thats to complex. Lets start with an invisible prop first. Or make the prop independed from  the engine rocker movement. Would be great mod for all the flyers who use the 2 wingers in VR.

This is one of my last few pet peeves about this game, it's very annoying with the sun at your back, all the other great art work, and a 1950's comic strip propeller.

I wont be able to work on it for a bit but as soon as I get to it again, Ill add the Mustang and the Jug for sure.

It's a great start, I would love to see those props blurred more though as they are still too well-defined, maybe 2x 3x as much blur/transparency, but certainly much better (for film makers) than it is currently. Looking forward to future updates :)

It's always bothered me that the prop animation for the P-51 appears to be for a 3 bladed prop. I'd love to see that changed.

You also have to remember that movies, war footage, and airshow footage show the prop disc the way a camera sees it further processed by software and your screen refresh rate.

Looks fantastic! I'll check it out innVR, see if there are any issues.

 

If I recall correctly, the devs had to change the original props because they created artifacts in VR.
