Not to start a new “Invisible Aircraft” thread, but just to mention a couple of oddities.   Flying Bloody April (25/04/20) I saw an invisible Albatros 😄, in fact, lots of players, in the same area, seem to have “seen” the invisible Albatros.  What was even more remarkable than that was that it kept vanishing and reappearing, it didn’t just fire its guns and de-cloak, indeed, even when he was firing it seemed that he remained invisible, at least to me  (of course, because he was invisible, I might just have been looking in the wrong direction when he was taking chunks out of my tail).  I initially spotted the Albatros in good time and not posing a threat (maybe 5 -600 yds), I warned the other players, I was on voice comm’s with, but not in formation with, the Albatros then disappeared.  The Albatros then came around behind me, according to my A.I gunner, took some shots, and then veered off to the side, ,to reposition, at which point it reappeared, it then became invisible again before attacking me for a second time. Again, I couldn’t see him, despite the fact he was obviously firing, my A.I gunner indicating with his gun the direction in which he should have been for me to see him.

....... and No, before you ask, I wasn’t recording the flight.

I think lately J5 server is acting in a weird way. From my side I have been disconnected many times and the same happened to all my team mates. Packets lost are often queued and after a while they come back all together when the conditions of the server improves. Few days ago, the fps of one of my team mates dropped to 14 and he couldn't keep up with us. Few minutes later the queued packets  arrived all together and we saw him flying at maybe 600/700 kmh. Weird. A couple of days ago I engaged a Camel. I saw my bullets hitting its engine, entering the cockpit and then slowly slowly going back to its tail. In a second pass I saw tons of my bullets hitting its right wing. The Camel apparently didn't suffer any demage and, working with a Se5a, shot me down. Just out of curiosity I took a look at the log and guess what? According to the log none of my bullets hit the Camel... Despite of the fact I saw something totally different.

For what I noticed, since the last update, unluckily the J5 server is not always working properly.  I am not a tech but I have the feeling sometimes the server is not "synchronized" and what we see is not what is really happening. I suppose the reason why is that some stuff are generated from the client but if the server loses its synchronism server and client do not agree on what"reality is". Again, I am not a tech so I could be wrong...

From the other side, we "saw" invisible Brisfits, cloaking & decloaking without any gunfire assistance, as described above in the case of the Albatros.

Dammit the entente just obtained this technology from the germans and already the NCO's can't stop playing with the button!

Please be a doll and post here:

Also send the track file to -ded-rapidus with the time in which the planes disappears/appears etc.

That's bizarre...unlike the previous examples...new version of the bug? Different bug? Server stress?

I saw invisible Bristol (know the player because of skin ) but all those was do to the network data missing and confirmed by messages from dserver about this player net traffic .

Even an AI plane which I escorted during the mission turned on the cloaking over the front and I could not follow it.

I think that when there are more than 60 players online, there is a overload stress and a packet loss due to the connection/bad ping. That was visible during the first mission, when both sides had more than 30 pilots online flying for their side.

Some players experienced packet loosing when they were attacking ground targets, like trucks or balloons. So, they were putting ammo into those but there was no effect since their bullets were not recorded in the mission and had no impact.

There were no position messages repeatedly throught the mission but were confined to only a handful of players. Usually I only see this on disconnects. Don't think the parser keeps chat logs tho.

I saw a shitload of those messages.

On another note, we encountered invisible planes on a completely cloudless map. So its not the clouds that are an issue.

So, would be good to try to map those who the "no position" message is about to those who are sometimes cloaked.  I think my flight and I on BAX last night saw one of our teammates, who was the subject of those messages, blink in and of of existence.  I think this was at the start of the first mission, just before the whole thing went tits up

It happens on the sever when that message is not popping up as well.

So its not tied together I don't feel.

....not trying to say, 'look over there', but we haven't done anything to change the server.  What we do know factually is:

a) Bloody April is more resource intensive than standard missions, so yes its possible we are pushing the envelope, although after the restart of the first mission things went much better.  We had increased the server strength before Bloody April.

b) the nodes for everyone's internet connections and paths to and from the game server and master server are loaded more than they likely have ever been due to COVID-19 and so many people staying home, working from home, Zoom meetings, streaming movies, etc. etc. etc.

We will try to look at "a" above since it is under our control and see if there are possibilities we can explore to improve things.

Invisible planes have been encountered when only 6 players are on the server. It's not tied to server overload.

The best hint to what's happening is how it goes away: shooting your guns makes it go away. This should provide hints for a workaround patch, if not a fix.

We had a CL2 in our flight popping in and out of visibility in the last session of BA. For the whole flight. It seemed to be directly related to the message...  "No position data on ... [pilot name]". I don't know diddly... but could it be packet loss?

Oh... shooting guns didn't have any effect. We often didn't see his tracers or flares when invisible. I seem to recall seeing tracers momentarily from empty sky and he popped in but soon disappeared again.

The planes going "in and out" on the runway and in flight on Saturday isn't the same issue as our average run of the mill Invisible plane bug.

Feel that this is extremely important - to me, this means that this is NOT the same 'invisible planes' bug we've seen up until now.

It's Evolving

Good grief !  Let's hope Mulder doesn't try to pull his trousers down and start doing a moonie from the rear gunner position.  The Horror.

We had an Alb going in and out of view while on the field.  Oddly enough, when he went invisible, the sound of his engine went silent....yet we could still see the dust from his prop wash.

Also, even when the plane was visible, the pilot was not.

This was different. I recorded it, but don't have all the know-how to make a vid.

in one of the BA missions this Sat. we had one of our flight of 3 Halbs that was invisible.   He could see us, and was in formation, but we couldn't see him except for one moment when I saw him pop in beside me for about 5 seconds and then pop out again.
