Strategic Fighter Command - Pilsner is Our Profession!

Pilsner? If the RAF had delivered that, there would have been a mutiny!

How  can I download it? Don´t find it on the DCS page nor in the game itseld?

Open command line and got into the bin folder of your DCS installation and use the command "dcs_updater.exe update"

example: E:\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World OpenBeta\bin>dcs_updater.exe update

Totally jealous! Just finished work and I'm downloading now. At least it's a good speed, Steam feeds me 7.7MB a second. I'm not going to complain about that.

Can't wait to Harrier-ize those clouds. And yes, I will drink and fly.

In my shame, I only later realized that "Porter is our Profession" works just as well and also tastes a million times better. Hell, I don't even like pilsners.

I like the Clouds! Not perfect, and I got a few funny animations here and there, but i-n-f-i-n-i-t-e-l-y better than before. And improvements to come no doubt. That said, I've barely run 25% of the presents.

And maybe it's just my addled mind, but the 2.75 rockets on the Harrier have an annoying new "Pew! Pew!" sound, and the Ka-50 also has a kind of tin can sound on takeoff. Going to take a while to unpack all the new stuff and see what's what.

  1. Rename the DCS folder in Saved Games.
  2. Run a DCS repair.
  3. Start DCS then close it, so a new folder is created.
  4. Take the input files from the Config folder in your backup DCS folder and copy them into the newly-created one so that your key bindings are restored.

You and me both.  :drinks:

My sources kind of maybe almost perhaps alluded to it being a surprise arrival and soon. That gives me hope.

The Spit, the Jug and both WW2 maps, so I can run with the Dogs some time - but looks like not tonight.

The DL is taking ages...

It worked for me, and some others. But some said it didn't help. Best of luck.

(I also disabled all mods for the time being)

Ermagherd, which plane/ map to buy first on sale?

No sale on Steam yet. Then again, I think I already bought everything I wanted. I'm waiting for some Mosquito action.

Still on the fence with the Hind, and with the new Clouds! I would almost consider the F-16 for some glorious boomin' & zoomin', but I have the Mig-29 - which was 1/7 the price of the F-16 - and that little thing is beaucoup fast. I should get to know it better.

As to the new AAA barrage feature in the ME, at first I didn't think much of it, then Spudknocker put up a video with a neat little clip and it was pretty cool.

It's right at the start:

Yup. With low sun, it can be even more spectacular.

Try out the rain, too.

Did you just out-spectacularize me with premeditation and malice?

Where's my safe space? I need a puppy and a soft pillow. :(

i been playing DCS for around 5 years or so, have virtually all the planes and a copter head :), too me i dont find i t hard to memorize all the planes i fly, if i havent flown one for a while then ill do 1 or 2 familiarization flights before a mission.

but then using a full hotas/rudder/tracking etc and a small black book with quick refreash on planes buttons sometimes.

i like the complexity of it all, only wish i have is they make the scenery more up to scratch, the new cloud systems are very good though and the new FA-18 sound files are way better.

as for WW2 birds, i like them in dcs due to the more in depth flight and missions etc, but IL2 is easier of course to jump straight into, but to some degree this all depends on how you want to play a sim, to me its a proper start up etc, weapon align, to others its press here to start

whatever, happy flying :)

I'm toying with either buying Syria map or the F16.

They did an amazing job on the clouds brings so much life to it now. Obligatory Tomcat Screenshot below, from a free flight

Ended up buying Syria, damn its a good looking map

It's a great looking map and they just added a bunch of improvements. Still more to come too. And the nice thing about a map is there is no learning curve.

I'm still thinking about the F-16, but I already have the F-18 so it's just more of the same in a way. And even on sale the Viper runs $70 to $80Cdn.

I have had the Syria map since it was available and have yet to fly over it.

Guess I need a Hornet campaign that utilizes it - seems Hornet Campaigns are all I am doing at present with DCS.

Still more to learn...

I was about to buy the viper as well, when I realised that I forgot how to operate the F18. I've spent most my time in the F14 and Harrier, I dont need another one to learn. Thinking of brushing up on the MIg-21 for Syria map.

Really?

Dude!

I second that “Dude”!

Only seen pics and videos so far, but best map I’ve seen. Individual shrubs/trees, some areas rendered quite faithfully it seems. Very nice work.

From scratch BoS install happening right now - painful at 350 kB/s but getting there.

Then it’s time at last for another very painful download. I’d better grab the Tomcat while it’s on sale.

I’ll be training at Nellis. :)

Can’t wait!
