http://www.mediafire.com/file/8f8s9qqftt9dz1o/Exile.zip/file

Non historical campaign by IronK, inspired by games like  "Strike Commader" or "Interstate 76"

Map: IL2 - Battle of Stalingrad

Planes needed: Fw190-A5 (Battle of Kuban) / Bf109 G6 (Collector Plane)

This campaign is set in a fictional timeline, in which Stauffenbergs assasination attempt on Adolf Hitler in July 1944 was successful. After that Germany and negotiated a truce with the western allied forces, only facing the red army from the east. With Adolf Hitler gone, the soviet propaganda machinery ran dry. The outlook to face not only the german army, but also of their former western allies on Germanys eastern border brought the rolling masses of the red army to a standstill. The army structures started crumbling, the number of deserters grew by the day. The first anti-communist militias formed and started to head for Moscow. In November 1944 Joseph Stalin and his polit bureau followed the same fate as the Fuehrer did just a few months before.

A fragile military government now holds the pieces of the former soviet union together. These chaotic times are the foundation and beginning of countless venturers streaming into Russia and its former republics, looking for the fortunes this “treasures of the soil” filled lands promise.

Gold, oil, weapons, medicine ,drugs, food - everything a man needs to build a fortune. Local militias of former red army veterans roam the countryside, looking for their share in this new environment. Mercenaries, privateers and entrepreneurs from all over the world fight for their piece in this fast changing new land of opportunities.

You are playing as Artur Sander,a former Luftwaffe pilot, who was stationed in Anapa / Kuban, but had to leave in the mids of the turmoil after the death of the Feuhrer and the collapse of the soviet union. He chose not to go home, but to stay and start a new adventure in the vast and promising new "Wild East".

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

V1.01 - changed description of 2. Mission

V1.02 - changed mission failed logic in 01-Visitors mission

             - fixed bug that didnt trigger mission progress in mission 08-TheRaid

             -  changed time of mission 12-Santa to late evening, so spoting of cargo plane is easier

This is my first campaign, after a lot of testing i hope there are no major or mission breaking bugs. Missions can be challenging for new players, AI is set to "High" or "Ace" for most aircrafts.

No big Battles, but small and diverse CPU friiendly  missions  (15-20min, Air-Air, Air-Ground missions).

Missions automatically end and count as accomplished when described mission objectives are fullfilled and player successfully lands the aircraft at home airfield.

Most missions have some variety in AI encounters (type/location), alternative mission objectives ensure progress to next mission if objectives are to tough. Read mission describtion for details.

Big thanks to the guys from the Mission Making corner, JimTM, Gambit21 and all the other guys helping to get into this topic and to make these missions/campaigns.

If you enounter bugs or problems, just leave a comment.

Enjoy!

P:S.

I created a highly randomized SP mission with randomly offered "everyday life" missions for this timeline and scenario. (escort, transfer, AG attack or scramble missions)

Mission variants for different planes included.

Sounds like the epic campaign "Rebirth of Honor" in the old IL-2 1946 days. For me the best scripted campaign ever. I love both fictional and Fw190 campaigns - the best prerequisites to play EXILE. We will see and give you feedback. In any case, thank you a lot for sharing your work with us.

AWESOME!!!!! 😀

Will the Western Allies and Germany make peace to join forces against Stalin?

IMHO we miss more fictional campaigns? What´s the point of recreating always what happened in the past? GROUNDHOG DAY! 😛

Sounds interesting.
Just curious, are the planes still have the Soviet and/or Cross on German planes?
After a fall of Soviet Union and German government I would expect the signs of the army to be changed, no?
I mean, it would be epic to see a completely two new factions rise with different plane signs in this campaign.
Anyway, sounds like a fun campaign. I am sure I will give it a try and provide feedback!

Thought about doing it, but would have been a huge Endeavour to also change plane designs. Spend the last weeks getting familiar with the mission editor, didn’t have the time to also dive into skins. In some missions I worked with available designs that are more reminiscent of war paint than actual camouflage, to mimic the scenario you described. If someone wants to contribute something in the skins department, you are more than welcome.

In this scenario Stalin is already gone and the former Soviet Union in a state of collapse. In these troubled times warlords and mercenaries fill the vacuum that is left.

You are right, fictional campaigns leave a lot of room for creative missions, were Russian, German and American planes cross paths over the steppe.

Unfortunatly i never played il2 1946, and so i couldt expirience Rebirth of Honor. But from what i have read, it sounds like the kind of expirience i was aiming for. (on a smaller scale though)

Mission 2, on the arse of a bad guy, wingman shoots me down... do you think he switched sides?... lol!

Like the idea behind this campaign though  :)

Small point on mission 2... you have no height requirement indicated on the waypoint over the B-25's airfield. I passed over it a couple of times and it sat still on the runway.

It was not until I turned on the hud, and then saw the marker was much lower and then flew through it. The bomber then proceeded to take off after a flare was fired.

I'm sorry, but mission 5 "Clownshow" can't be accomplished. Or it's me that can't do it. I can make as many slow or fast flybys as I want, the Spad always crashes. Is there a trick?

Normally it should take 3 fly bys to get him to land. Just did a test and it worked. Make sure you get really close.

Thanks for the new campaign ! BUT p38 and A20 ...:help:

As statet in the description, this campaign is set in a fictional timeline, former pilots from all over the world stream into this land looking for adventures and opportunities, just like many pilots did after WW1, but with guns.

I have downloaded and finished the first seven missions. Very interesting and challenging campaign. Thank you. ironk79. (In fact, this Wild-West-style story reminds me of the Japanese anime "The Magnificent Kotobuki" I watched last year. 😆)

However, I had difficulty to complete Mission 3 "Nightwitch". I circled around sector 0718 and nothing happened, so I had to use the alternate way (destroying the truck) to skip the mission. It's hell to fly in the dark...... 😅

The bandit camp is randomly spawned in one of three possible locations, lid by a campfire. I admit, can be hard to detect since its located in a claearing between trees.

Thanks for the tip! I have just completed the mission, finally! 😆

It's really hard to find the way and spot the campfire in the dark. I think I have some kinds of night-blindness. 😅

Sorry. I have a problem again.

In Mission 08 TheRaid, I killed an AAA Truck and bombed an Armoured Car, then saw a green flare fired from my plane and a German half-track driving in the compound. Then two La-5s dived on me. I shot them down too. After that, I circled above the compound for a while but nothing happened. Then I returned to my base and got a mission failure.

I tried again and still failed. What did I miss? Any tips?

after the armoured vehicle enters the compound it takes a few minutes for the raid and preparing the explosives.  When raid is finished the armored should signal a red flare and pull out of the compound. When they are safely on their way your task is finished and you can return home.

I tried one more time. This time, after the green flare fired, I only caught one La-5 and the other La-5 escaped. However, I circled above the compound and waited for about 10 minutes. The German vehicle kept parking inside the compound and no red flare.

Therefore, I just RTB, destroyed the truck and moved on to the next mission. 😅

I have completed the campaign. (In fact, I skipped Mission 12 Santa by destroying the truck. It was too hard for me to find the cargo plane in the dark without knowing its altitude.😅)

I tried three times to complete Mission 15 TheBait_II. The dogfight was very challenging to me, but I did it finally. 😁

The whole campaign was a very interesting and exciting experience. I really enjoyed it. Many thanks ironk79. 😆👍

Hey.
I just played the first mission.
The B25 got hit several times by the i-16 and had a black smoke (not a fuel leak I think), and at the last waypoint it just landed between two airfields in an open field.
The objectives stayed for couple of minutes the same to defend the plane while it was on the ground and I quit the mission.
Am I doing something wrong? Is it a bug? I have shot down only one i-16, the other one stayed back with my wingman, should I have destroyed the second as well to pass the mission or to trigger something?

Looks I have to implement emergency and crash landings for B25 as mission possibility. For that scenario the mission would count as not successful. Did you retry?

Update: Just changed 01-Visitors mission, when B25 doesnt land on designated airfield (shot down, crash lands) , waypoint marker of home airfield is triggered, mission counts as failed after landing.

Finally had time to look into this issue. Vehicle also didnt fire green flare, but couldnt find the reason. Increasd radius of the triggering waypoint, so far it seems to have fixed the issue. (Uploaded V1.02 with a few changes)

Mission 12-Santa in V1.02 is much "playable" for me. It is still very challenging but I can see the silhouette of the cargo plane against the twilight sky now.

I had to fly very low to spot the cargo plane and turn to catch it on time. The mission was finally accomplished at my third attempt.

Thanks for the update. 👍

Hi,

I have replayed the first mission, and I have more feedback:

1. When approaching the allied B-25 plane, it does not take off, unless you fly very closely through your waypoint. In such cases, place a checkzone area to trigger the take off both with checkzone and the player waypoint.
2. B-25 plane (and maybe others, did not check) is "Plane" and it does not have Callsign. When B-25 reaches its landing approach, the radio chatter looks like "You are clean to land, " and "This is , roger". (you see the empty space?)

3. For the first mission (except the prologue), the i-16 enemy planes are too aggressive, and thats why I lost on the previous attempt. You need to tone down the difficulty and raise it as player passes missions.

4. Why is the enemy side is so desperate to shot down the B-25 plane risking their lives (the i-16 pilots) instead defending themselves against me and my wingman? Its just a plane with a cargo delivering goods to the civilians. Thats just does not make any sense.

5. Player have to wait until the B-25 lands in order to progress the mission. I would put a checkzone that checks that the B-25 plane is close to the final airfield and that there are no enemies (if enemy enters the zone, disable the checkzone that detects B-25 airfield approach).

6. There is a fake airfield at the landing approach (hence this is why you see the radio chatter) but there is no at the takeoff of B-25, I would add it also to the takeoff process. Now the B-25 just takeoffs silently, it breaks the immersion.

7. Maybe its just me, and I know its a fictional story, but why would Germans help civilians in Georgia? Why would Russians do whatever they can destroying B-25 plane delivering goods to Georgian citizens that fought for the Soviet Union?

8. I would also add some labels such as:
   a. This is BF109 flight, we are going to escort you (or something)

   b. Thanks for the assistance BF109 flight, going to land
   c. Escort mission successful, return to base

Please take this as a positive feedback, dont get me wrong - I did enjoy this mission and I will continue playing it, I just want to help you make it better :) (and maybe its a curse of my profession testing software...)

Thanks for your input,

1. In newest version player is briefed to do a flyby for identification before B 25 takes off

2. Since allmost all the flights arent "official" flights, best would be to remove "fake airfield" from destination airfiled and keep radio silent

3. AI is a controversial issue, lower AI just doesnt do it for me, mission should still be challenging. This Campaign can be challenging, but mission themself are quite small compared to other large scale campaigns.

4. Nobody knows what the cargo is, thats left for your imagination. You are just hired to protect the plane, not to ask questions. If somebody is willing to hire 2 Warbird for protection, they have their reasons.

5. Your task ends as soon as you get the signal after a (safe) landing, no matter if there are possible enemies around or not.

6. Most of the airfield were abondened after the war, maybe B25 used it as intermediate/repair  stop over night?

7. Its the "Wild East", there is no good/bad or  black/white, good guys can do bad things, bad guys can do good things in this uncertain times

8. Communication is limited to basic face to face or written agreements. You are given specific tasks from unknown clients, only thing that really matters is payment and maybe your conscience

I'm having the same problem, 3 or 4 tries now, I have tried dropping flaps and almost scraping the paint on that Spad, then flying and making fast approaches and passing very close, but the Spad flies on regardless and every time he  eventually goes into a spin and crashes ??  does it matter where you pass by, is it over, under, or to the side ?
