Career mode plane modifications locked

Recommended Posts

Hi all, this may be a stupid question, but I can't seem to figure out how to unlock certain things for aircraft in career mode, such as the rocket launchers or 150 octane fuel for the p51. I tried starting my career late in the battle and as a commander but nothing worked. Is there a way to unlock these things for use in career mode? Thanks

Plane configuration is determined by the mission. You don't get to change it.

Additionally, some modifications are available in the  game but may be only available either very, very late in the war, or not available for the squadron you are in , or just not available in Career mode. Most of the continental-based USAAF squadrons did not receive 150 octane fuel IIRC, it was mostly available to the 8th AF fighters for escort duties deep into Germany.

Correct, 150 octane fuel was not delivered to USAAF units on the Continent, because it was seen as unnecessary.

The rocket tubes and radio compass of the P-51 were mods seen only in the Pacific and the Far East.

I knew about the 150 octane fuel but did not know that about the rocket tubes. I guess I had always assumed they were used in the same way as with the P-47s!
