Spent some time setting up PWCG for FC today... had a good time patrolling the Arras sector in my S.E.5a looking for trouble... great stuff!

I don't fly Jabo misssions so I cannot comment this because I fly the fighters only. But as for the fighters I think the AI behavour has been improved to some degree for the last cca half year (e.g. AI now know how to fly in four a/c formation, leader do not fly way ahead etc.). But there seems to be a lot of work to do in this filed of course. Some AI still punches ground or fly in circles. But some of the AI perform now suprisingly advanced combat manouvers (fighting in the vertical plane, traying to escape with dive instead of endless circling etc.) 👍

 

IMHO It would be very  helpfull if devs were more open to us as for the AI behaiviour and share with us in detail what AI can and what cannot do and how AI perform on various difficulty levels.

 

Of course I still very much missing fully functional radio commands as well as the possibility of some advanced flying tactics (at least at the level of commanding 4 a/c divided to two pairs). Let's hope that now (after 4.001 release) the devs has more time to improve this core feature of IL-2 GB. FINGERS CROSSED 🤞

Hi. Anyone else with a Reverb Pro suddenly experiencing constant crash-outs since 4.001b? Headset goes black then cut to desktop and sometimes even causes blue screen and a system restart. It was fine and running lovely and smoothly with better fps etc when 4.001 was released but then it's now crashing all over the place. IL-2 is the only title I play in VR so I can't benchmark it against other titles but it works fine in WMR home.

At first thought perhaps it was a SteamVR issue but now I'm not so sure.

Most of the time it will blackout and crash shortly after entering the cockpit (between 30 secs to 2 mins usually), sometimes it'll crash out on menu screens (even loading).

 

Since the problems, I 'have' noticed an awful and very uncomfortable 'flickering' during loading (used to be just the SteamVR 'mountains & stars' backdrop but now the mission map stays on screen during loading and flickers like mad. Have to look away. Everything fine again as soon as loading completes. This I've only had since the mini update to 4.001b.

I've tried different USB ports on my Z390-F m/b inc the red 3.1 inputs as well as the blue. No go. Tried the zip tie trick to better eliminate the cable connection from the back of the headset.

This is so so frustrating as I'm longing to enjoy version 4 particularly with the seemingly smoother running and improved fps but this is currently rendering it unplayable and any help or advice would be very welcomed indeed.

@Voidhunger

   Check your windows sound settings on the bottom right hand side of the home screen. Some reason mine switched to Vive audio and I have it set through headphones.

I have sound in every game and movies only Il2 sounds are missing

 

I dont want to reinstall the whole game😭 I have now an hour to play :)

Nope. Jabos,Bombers,Fighters....AI leaders still flying around 60- 100 meters in front of the formation.

2nd question, why does the AI, flying behind the player not stay behind the player? The AI behind the player only looks where the AI in front of the player is flying, and the player has to find his position between those two. Is it really that hard to program AI to stay behind the aircraft, that is flying in front of him, instead of flying in the double distance behind the last AI in front of him?

Is anyone having issues with planes desapearing and reappearing when distant (less than 5 Km) or not Even appearing, ie when they are below you at 16 - 20k feet and they on deck?

Hi,

 

Is it just me or Il-2's (1943's in this case) can't hit anything on the ground anymore?

Somebody please do a test and do a quick mission while commanding x3 with bombs and rockets. They do atleast two times circling around targets without firing any weapons and on a third only one airplane will fire something. It takes forever for them to destroy 4 artillery positions.

 

Also are there any plans to improve AI Wingman and communications that we are in command? They do things without being ordered and I have to press 3 key for them back information ("~","F1", "F6")

Since we don't get enough communication from our wingmen we need some kind of an info box (may be something when we press "~" to let us know what they are doing of if they are down) that should give us rough idea what wignmen are doing or if they bailed out or dead. For example in Arma I can send radio message for their position and if they haven't respond they are claimed as dead.

I'm halfway through Stalingrad career right now and my experience sound similar to yours. I always thought it was just reality or Soviet pilots.

I always get swarmed. It is easier now since I'm commander and can intercept enemy Stuka's+Escorts or provide cover for ground troops with more than 3 fighters.

If we are doing a bridge attack mission I'm the only one that has bombs.

Every other mission some bf109 follow me home, I figured out a way to make them crash into the ground around my airfield.

what did you even do?!

My FPS has DOUBLED.
I assume it's the cloud fixes, but i feel like i bought a brand new computer. And this is on the new map!

Combined with the AI fixes, the improvement is truly massive.

Obligatory "gimmes:"

 

My top 3:

1. ability to save settings like fuel, loadout, and convergence per plane.

2. ability to set separate vertical and horizontal convergence: either via two sliders, or better, via a selection of actual documented convergence/harmonization presets that 99% of pilots actually flew with, taken straight from the manuals.

3. Ability to set default trim/stab settings per aircraft.

In 1943 B-25s used in the long-range Reconnaissance Air Regiments and night long-range Bomber Air Regiments only. I guess day German fighters could meet reconnaissance B-25s in the Kuban area. Soviet bomber regiments that were based on the Kuban airfields had Boston III, Pe-2, Tu-2, Su-2, Li-2, MBR-2, IL-4, U-2 and R-5.

I'm really hoping this will be added soon, but will BoBP be adding individual missions?

 

I'm referring to on the main screen when you click on "Missions"

 

In my game there is a folder for "Battle of Stalingrad," "Battle of Moscow," and "Battle of Kuban" missions, so I was expecting to see a new folder titled "Battle of Bodenplatte"

 

While I usually play MP, some of the most fun I've had in SP is on some of those individual missions.

Hey guys, i kind of encountered a big bug in the bodenplatte career. I'm flying for the No.127 RAF squadron, and apparently in the RAF, you get dragged out of the sick bay and strapped into a spitfire for an afternoon bombing mission, along with your dead flight lead remains and whatever's left no.3. My career is stuck here since if i click start mission, IL-2 crashes from this massive violation of basic human rights, like the right to stay dead XD.

And please take a look at the durability system in general. It seems silly that you can destroy a dugout with airplane's 20 mm cannon, but the Panzer III's cannon can't do diddlysquat to a dugout.

Thank you for this masterpiece Devs! I am looking forward to the upcoming iterations of BoX.

 

One question is still left for me. I am flying in VR and I can remember a discussion after one of the last major updates that were conducted on VR zooming. A higher zoom, e.g. 10x, similar to TrackIR, is the only thing that I'm still missing for VR here. Is there anything planned in this direction?

When you follow something there will be an error as you do not fly in exact position you need to. This error will amplify on each step if you fly not after one leader but after plane in front of you. If we do as you say we would have troubles with oscillating wingmans.

I can't find any WWII era american or british artillery, vehicles, tanks in this release.

Are these planned ?

It will be strange to populate  the rheinland map with russian artillery, vehicles or tanks.

We have the Willis jeep that now has a driver. That is a first step.

As an avid on-line MP fan, I am very much enjoying the official release version of BoBP and FC.  Great stuff! 

 

For me, the VR graphics and performance are much better now and I am enjoying the VR experience (Pimax 5k+) more than ever :)
