[MOD] WW1 over Moscow - career MOD

Recommended Posts

Hi guys and gals,

in case someone is interested to fly careers in SP with the Flying Circus planes over the Moscow map. You now can do that. I swapped the WW1 planes into an existing career and I thought it might be a good idea to prepare this little MOD for you.

Prerequisites: BoM, P40 and MC202 necessary. I have everything released by 1CGS, so everyone else with full install should do fine.

Swapped into the careers were: Camel, Dolphin, SE5a, Spad13 and the two Bristol versions for the allies and for the germans all german WW1 planes with all subversions.

So, if you are tired of using the WW1 planes only in QB, with this MOD you should be able to have some career with them going. Mind you though, the preset missions are the same as with WW2 planes, because only the planes have been exchanged to WW1 planes. So there could be some odd occurences.

Installation: I suggest you use JSGME to enable the MOD. Simply extract the files into your MOD Folder. File structure will be (data/scg/13 and data/scg/scripts)

Have fun!

Well, that's interesting. Until we get the real thing it will fill a void. Thanks.

Too bad there isn't a way to give the current ground based anti aircraft machine guns the rate of fire and caliber of a Vickers gun and the Spandau.   The WW2 guns just rip the WW1 kites to pieces in no time.

Hi sevenless,

thanks for the career but I don't have much experience with JSGME. Does the JSGME folder go in the root > 1C\IL2 greatbattles\JSGME\MOD? Or is it in the data sub directory? Sorry for the lack of understanding but I've been dying for something like this! Thanks for making it!

Nick

Nevermind-This dummy figured it out!!! Thanks again!

I have no JSGME and no MOD folder and I have no clue how to install this mission. Can somebody point me in the right direction about how to do this.

Sure, here is a rough rundown:

1st) download JSGME here: https://www.softpedia.com/get/Others/Miscellaneous/Generic-Mod-Enabler.shtml

2nd) install it to your IL2 GB root directory,

for steam: X:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\IL-2 Sturmovik Battle of Stalingrad

for 1CGS: X:\Program Files (x86)\1C Game Studios\IL-2 Sturmovik Great Battles

3rd) run JSGME 1st time and it will create a MODS sub folder

4th) download the WW1 over Moscow mod

5th) extract it to the MODS folder

6th) restart JSGME and you should see WW1 over Moscow, then activate it

7th) start IL2 with MODS allowed

8th) start career Moscow and select the unit / biplane you like to fly

Thanks, it is done. Some addition/corrections for others with the same "problem"

- The location of the (non-steam) program is free to choose during install, in my PC that is D:\tankcrew\IL-2 Sturmovik Great Battles\

- First I had to run jsgme_setup, that made : JSGME

- Then I had to run JSGME and that made the MODS folder.

the rest went well upto finding the career.  I could not find  the WW1 over Moscow career.  I had 3 choises BOM, BOS, BOK and selected the battle of Moscow, then after some searching I found a career with an other name (I forgot, something with city in the name) that had a list that showed the WW1 planes. (I am new to caree-rmode because I play 90% of the time off-line so most people will probably have no problems finding it)

I have not played it yet but I look forward to trying. I choose the Fokker Dr.1 in the famous red color.

I made a quick ( maybe too quick) decision to download & drop this fun Mod directly into my main game folder ( maybe I should have used JSGME instead?) At any rate it changed the one or two campaigns already started on the Moscow map & all the corresponding aircraft therein.I can live with it but if I wanted to how can I get the default map campaigns back or use the other JSGME mod that uses FW-190d’s on the Moscow map ?

Having said that I am delighted to have the opportunity to use all our WW1 planes in meaningful mission/campaigns while waiting for the proper maps.I was getting a little tired just using the Quick Mission utility. Thanks!

I can help you out I think. Delete (or copy to a safe place) the following files:

Once those files are deleted the game uses the encrypted standard files.

You are welcome. Yes everytime you want to play WW1 planes turn it on. If you want to play WW2 planes turn it off in JSGME. Quite convenient if you want, like me, switch between BoBP planes in the east and WW1 planes and regular setting. Simply switch the corresponding mod on and you are set.

I tried it today and I must say the potential here is bigger than I thought.
I flew an Albatross escorting a group of Halberstadt in VR.
I was not "inside" the cockpit, I was "outside". I could see the pilots from the other airplanes around me. I could hear the engines. As the speed is much slower, the movement from side to side, going up and down and around, felt realistic. As I was in normal mode I could freely move my head and torso and that contributes a lot for the sense of movement in the space, something that does not happen in the WWII airplanes since you are restrained by the closed cockpit.
I wonder if the devs have tried it, cause the FC will not have campaign, and now I think the the single player campaing is something essencial for this title.
The experience is much more visceral. That is the word. Visceral.
