Mitchell's Men is fantastic!

This is a wonderful proof-of-concept for strategic-bombing simulation--- it can only get better from here!

Yes. Show this to all your friends! Maybe someday we'll be flying those B-25s or even escorting AI B-17s. Seeing all those B-25 contrails and weaving escorts contrails was certainly a thrilling sight today.

1CGS really created a special experience with BoBP. I'm really looking forward to Normandy.

It appears that the server is down.  It's on the list, but won't allow a connection and no one is on.

the average of server down recently has been as high as 3 times over a period of 24 hrs . once down you have to wait for the next mission to start , we dont get to play the lost mission again till the next cycle .

I checked all my logs for the past 18 month and there was this one time when a friendly FLEW into my guns. Just FLEW right into them. Could you please find out who this was and then come round to my house (at a time convienient for me) to provide a full account of your investigation. Would be appreciated as would a written explanation from the other pilot...better still....bring him too.

You will need to check more carefully then:

friendly plane kill:

https://combatbox.net/en/sortie/log/422400/?tour=20

friendly ground objects kill:

i did not see this one in March aircraft kill listing  ,  is it counted separately as a kill under a different heading ? i am still not finding it in the 3 march 2020 sorties log ? what is it listed as ? under what heading ?  What about February do you see anything ? as for ground objects this is true because while shooting at the enemy downwards on top of target i hit something , i am conscious of that , unavoidable and will happen again .

Probably pretty safe to assume there is something. stiglitz can do his own but, if it were me, id be contented that there is rather than go asking peole to waste their time finding more proof.

Killing friendly ground targets accidentally isnt unavoidable. It depends on your own discipline and situational awareness when taking shots.  In turn this is probably dependendent on how much you are invested into the "reality" of the mission and care about your side as a whole not just shooting stuff down for stats.

I don't like the eastern front maps as they feel totally fictional. I understand the use of the eastern front maps to add diversity, but I'd prefer to have 41-42 western front planesets instead of the mixed western and eastern front late war planesets, e.g.

P40E, SpitfireV, Fw 90A3, Bf109G2 ... but maybe that's not possible because that requires collector planes.

I hope when the BoN are avaiable we can make Western Front maps from 42/43 to the server with Spits MkV, Typhoons, Hurricanes, P51 and P47 early version vs F4, G2, G4, A3 etc...

Ill comment as i see fit. My observations on flying with discipline are valid not rude. Highlighting the pointlessness of asking people to waste more time providing you further proof that your own checking of your own records was flawed isnt rude either.

What is rude (if your have as low as tolererance level as you apprear to have) is persistently complaining about the server going down or missions not coming around after a reboot. Its demanding explanations into changes within a mission and its insisting that the owners investigate your own flawed assumptions and reply personally to you.

Your situation is pretty clear to me. You protest more than you check your facts, you complain too much about unavoidable things in the MP world like discos, you dont accept that your own lack of disicpline results in friendly kills and you dont RTFM. CB is provided free and the missions are created for free. There is a wealth of information published by the team about the way the server runs and the missions themselves. There are over 2500 players currently registered with CB.  Few act with the self entitlement to demand personal investigations and PMs from the server owners into their own, self created, problems and certainly dont persist when those assumptions have been proved incorrect and other experienced players have already answered their queries.

Look, i don‘t want to be rude; i went through all your sorties in march, clicked on sortie log and checked what had happened during the sortie according to the list of what got damaged and by whom. It‘s a lot of time wasted, especially for this amount of sorties. I will not look through february, you can do that yourself if you really need to know.

what i do suggest to you is: get familiar with how the stats page works, where you can see your sorties and where you can look into the sortie log of this sortie. This would solve a lot of your questions, save you some „harsh“ comments on here and it also takes workload off the admins, as they don‘t have to waste their time checking your sorties and answering your questions every day/week.

tl;dr: check your stats more carefully

There will be no clarification from the me, on this. While we like to see new pilots on the server, your constant questions are quite tiresome. Everyone else seems to have figured out the rules. We've investigated friendly fire incidents in the past and almost 100% of them are due to pilot error. There is no need to be rude to another player or suggest they stop posting in this thread.

While we appreciate 'server down' reports, those are best done in Discord to actually get our attention. https://discord.combatbox.net/

The Combat Box stats website now features custom banners that showcases the Western Front map and late war birds. The banners will be regularly rotated with images from our players on Combat Box and will alternatively feature Allied and Axis late war birds. Our first banner was used with permission from The Nines. Special thanks to Riksen for his excellent advice and the new background, and to Roach46 for editing of the first new banner 😁

Just saw this post. Cool stuff!   It gave me an idea:

For the sake of friendly competition, perhaps the banners could be reflective of which side won the previous month's campaign.  For example, The picture above shows the Allied plane in the "victorious" position per se.  If the Axis had won, the banner would show the Axis plane winning the fight. I'm sure there are a wide variety of screenshot scenarios that could be used to represent the respective monthly winner's triumph.

That's a great idea, should be easy to automate 🙂 It will also avoid any accusations of bias as it's up to the players as to which banner is displayed 😅

You don’t become famous by dying all the time.  😆

Is it possible to bring the D9 forward more to the front line.
Tonight it was at the back airfield with the 262s.
Allies have tempest and the starlingwood P51.

Close to front lines.

Just a thought.

What happens when you try to connect? Does it just boot you back to the MP menu, or do you get an error code? Is the server full? usually if I try and connect when its 83/84 I just get booted back to the menu, since it usually means someone else has taken that last slot before I could.

Could also be issues with the server, that happens sometimes. you can check the discord for updates.

Thanks for the quick response.

After 2 days, it just started working.

It was booting me back to MP menu. Server wasn't full, but it was acting that way.

New weekend, new maps! To keep things interesting we are re-introducing some of our 'classic' maps. Some that pilots newer to Combat Box might never have flown these, and they're quite fun!

  • Battle for Kalinin is a fictional scenario where Enigma was never broken by the Allies. The war dragged on, and in August 1944 the Soviets and Germans are fighting over the city of Kalinin, west of Moscow. This map features an Eastern front 1944 planeset (Germany vs Russia + lend-lease aircraft).
  • Stalingrad Scramble features the Me-262 jet fighter, jet fuel depot, and high-altitude Ai bombers. For those of you who like the high fights, this map delivers. It also features a unique 'search and destroy' area target over the ruined city of Stalingrad.

Here's our full rotation:

  • Battle_of_the_Scheldt_Sep_1944
  • Battle-for-Kalinin-Aug-1944
  • Crossing_the_Rhine_Mar_1945
  • Stalingrad-Scramble-Feb-1945

Alonzo & all the people that help with the server...

Thank you.

I recently got back into flying (warn-out from Racing Sims and mostly sick FPS games) and I discovered Combat Box... well done!

I'm an old original IL-2 diehard, servers like this is what this simulation needs to build an engaged online community.

I have really been enjoying the competition on the server, even got a couple old friends out of retirement to join in the fun.

I am also doing some streaming on Twitch when I fly on the server:

https://www.twitch.tv/majhnoon_dogs/

Cheers,

Mad Moses

I have read the rules and it states that straffing planes on the airfield is not allowed, on my first trip to combat box I waited until a plane was off the ground on its takeoff run (assume wheels up) and shot him down, this led to me being banned if this is correct some one needs to better define the rules but also that seems a little petty.

From their rules....

"These rules are not comprehensive. Admins reserve the right to use their own judgement rather than a big rulebook. Don't be a d**k and we'll all get along fine."

Doesn't seem that cryptic.
