Not reading the brief? never . Sorry I could not join on Tuesday as my VoiceMeeter Banana broke the game.

Hm, haven't noticed this.

Then again, our group has a long standing tradition of kinda like not read any briefing - information on where the target is usually sufficient :)

mmmm. seems to work now. Not sure what I changed? Anyway, maybe we have a working solution in next version.

Oh? I just looked into it, and just wanted to confirm the issue: Lots of lines are lost from the .eng file.

However, adding the -t parameter (in front of the -d) appears to 'fix' that, though some lines are still missing ...

Then again, if you got it working now, that's great! :):)

Thanks, I just found the same solution!

I also don't need to create a .bat file first. Turns out there was an extra backslash or something. In any case, next version will have working msbin, .list and description files!

Version 6 released!

A bit quick after last release, but removes a nasty bug which will make it a lot easier to get started. I will now focus on supporting all the planes and more maps. Kuban first I think.

Version 6 release notes:

-Fixed the bug that MissionResaver couldn't generate proper .list and description files (Thanks DD-FT!). No need to open it first in mission editor just use as is!

-Added " Ground Attack"  scenario for fighters/attack planes
-Removed ground attack objectives from "Escort Bombers" scenario
-When choosing low enemy activity, some AI planes of the random groups will also be removed (2 per side)

Well, another problem. I can run the tool, but when I click the Create Mission button, the message "Could not generate mission!" appears.

I have set IL-2 game folder, and I don't know what to do. :(

Mmm. Let me check later. If you set “create_msbin” to 0 in the config file, do you get the error as well?

Also, are you sure you also replaced all the files? Also the ones in "Template" folder?

Yes, I get the same error, and all the files are correct.

Edit: Does this tool work with the Steam version of the game?

I would assume so, as long as the file path structure is the same. Are you sure you have chosen the IL2 game folder correctly? (as in the correct folder in Steamapps maybe?)

I have just tested this on another rig with Il2 and have no errors...

This is the path: C:\Program files(x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\IL-2 Sturmovik Battle of Stalingrad\bin\game.

Is it correct?

A friend of mine has the no-Steam version of the game and he can generate missions. I'm really confused.

Thanks! And nice video 👍

I think I can remove the “simple” by now 😊. Almost done adding the Kuban map and all planes.

Looking forward to the kuban 😎

One question, would it be at all possible to add an option to have all planes spawn on the runways, or is that not possible?

Yes, that is possible and I can imagine why 😃. I'll add it to the backlog

Salutations,

Can one create a tank coop mission or is it still restricted to aircraft only? Thanks. :salute:

Not with this version. You would need a totally different template for that with different objective/mission types. Maybe some day?

New version out! Now supports starting the mission from the runway with running engines.

Version 8 release notes:

-Added the option to start from the runway with engines warmed up

-Added loadouts to all WW2 aircraft so you can change the plane set in the config and it should work (ie fly a P-47 over Kuban)

-Fixed minor bugs

Download link in first post as usual.

Is it possible to edit the ini file, for example adding new planes?

Thanks very much Vander:salute:

How do you select a P47?  Couldn't see it as a selectable aircraft.

Yes, that’s the idea. I even added the Dora. Didn’t test everything though, so please report any issues.

Also, config.ini will be overwritten with a new release so keep you planeset safe.

In the config file is a planeset defined per map. These are chosen so they are historically correct for the map.

However, you can edit this. Delete planes, add your own. The first entry is the name displayed in the drop down menu (has to be unique!), the second one the id as used in IL2 mission editor.

P-47 entry would look like: "P-47D-28": "p47d28"

Yep, seems to work great, I've made a plane.txt file which contains all the planes in the game apart from WW1 planes.

Question, how do the scripts generate the default loadouts? For example can I put BF109's into the attacker category to act as fighter bombers, will it automatically be assigned a bomb loadout?

planes.txt

Instead of editing ini file. It would be better if you add filter, which can be selected, created, imported and exported.

Yes, in the code I have a definition for all planes for attacker and bomber configuration. For fighters these are usually the same (ie in both cases carry one bomb)

Yes, I thought about that, but it will take some time. Maybe select the planeset on the spot from the program in a sub-menu.

I actually use this for single player missions, and its breathed a breath of fresh air into the game for me

I don't have time long operations, like in career so its excellent for pick up and play. The quick mission options are woeful.

This is much much better.

When not flying as a coop with others this is what I use it for too.  It's a really good general purpose mission generator.:)

Got an observation regarding V8:

Looks like you are no longer 're-saving' the generated mission, and the result is just a .eng and a .mission file.

That's good, as generating the mission is much faster now :)

There appears to be a downside though: Said .mission file is mostly twice the size of the .msbin file that results from a re-save.

Downside being the client that needs to download the files. And it really counts up one you've got like 10 people connecting and downloading the files.

What I think I will be doing next time we have a coop session, is to re-save the generated mission, and next delete the generated .mission file. As far as I could test this will work - it will take 'some' extra time on the host, but downloading the mission is faster... for áll the clients.

But the generator simply works fine, does a grand job, and gives our group a lot of fun! Thanks, again! 😎

Look in the config. Is the msbin = 0? Set it to 1 and it will generate a full mission.

If so, then bug from my side. Will upload new version.

EDIT: Indeed, must have forgotten to set it back to 1 (I use it for testing). You can change the config.ini yourself for now.

Great idea.  There's a big demand for something like this.

Flying as close escort to the A20s on the bomb run whilst being bounced by a group of D9's.

A scenerio the game's QMB would be incapable of creating but a breeze with this generator.:salute:
