This. Brits fought Tigers much more than Americans. I think Americans ran into Tigers a grand total of 4-5 times, 3 or so encounters with Shermans and one with Pershing's. Shermans won all three times yet interestingly enough the Pershing's lost. I'll have to find more info about it.

One interesting myth is that you needed 5 Shermans to take out one Tiger when in reality it was thought you really only needed a 2 to 1 advantage, more is better of course and you could do it with only one to one.

The Sherman wasn't the most heavily armed or armored by any means but it was one of the greatest tanks of the war imo. It's a shame the Sherman has so many negative stories surrounding it, most of them false.

I like the fight between the Pershing and the Tiger I and also the second Pershing vs Nashorn and the Cologne fight!

Yep that fight between the Pershing and the Panther at Cologne was pretty incredible to see. I read that the Pershing's first shot was while on the move and it was a direct hit.

Its a shame that the panther was turned to the side, i would like to see hit to the glacis plate, from such close distance.

Would have been interesting to see though I don't think it would have helped much. There were two Shermans (one was hit) on the street the Panther was originally facing (glacis towards them) So if the Panther would have tried to maneuver he would have been hit by the remaining Sherman.

Yep, I know, but I wanted to see hit on the panther front plate. I have some papers with testing of hvap 90mm ammo on panther glacis from almost point blank. It would be interesting to see that.

Will the M2HB the commander's Cupola be a field mod? More often than not, I've seen images of Red Army M4A2s without the .50 cal mounted.

If you keep mobile and out of a slug match she will do alright. If she get's pinned and forced into a slug match it didn't do as well as others.

Tank on tank combat was not the main cause of tank losses. However, as someone else mentioned, the Sherman did fine toe to toe with Mk IVs and Mk IIIs. However, all German tank destroyers were armed with guns that had little difficulty in penetrating the sherman. And the German towed AT guns were mostly all at least 5cm by 1944. In one of the British/Canadian attempts to break out of Normandy, just a couple or German 8.8cm guns blunted the entire offensive. I think they weren't even the really good anti-tank 8.8cm guns, but the anti-aircraft "88".

Basically, tanks get into trouble when they go it alone. It is combined arms that wins battles. A hidden gun can destroy a half dozen tanks in minutes; it takes infantry recon, artillery suppression, and tanks in direct fire all working together.

I think the T-34 and Sherman were pretty evenly matched, however, the pre-HVSS shermans were not nearly as good as the T-34 in cross country maneuverability. The T-34 had lower ground pressure than the sherman (the HVSS suspension evened things up on that score, but that was in late 44 or 45.

I take it that you cannot get the Kursk map unless you buy the full TC package?

Just looked at the TC description: the term ‘decimate’ is mis-used to describe the potential effect on the crew of a hit. Suggest this is changed to ‘devastate’ or something similar in the interests of good prose 🙂

In Singleplayer yes in multiplayer no. In MP you are until now able to join to every map. That means you should also have MP access to the TC Map

Got ya, thanks.

I would like the map but I know I would have little time for the tanks, so not sure that it is worth the cost

Looks great! Combined arms is going to kick ass.

But is there any chance of more intense weathering? Everything is quite clean. Thick dirt and grunge really enhances the heavy experience that tank game-play is.

I'd love to see tessellation bump mud tracks - or anything tessellated close range. Ground looks flat, and is always a large part of the viewing experience.

Will the grass get thick and dense?

I too have the same reaction when Decimate is used instead of Devastate, however in general usage it appears that decimate is now common when refering to large scale destruction rather than a tenth of something.

Synonym's are things like Annihilate, slaughter, wipe out, exterminate, etc.

still feels wrong to me but there we go.

It's really hard to be the best in the world, everyone blames you for everything.  LOL🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😀

To be fair to our american cousins (bloody colonists!) their saucy colloqualisms have spread well around the globe.

No one likes a cry-baby 😋

But the point stands: the term is used incorrectly and it is a tendency of a particular American-English flavour. Similar to the propensity of confusing adverbs and adjectives.

Happy St. Valentine's Day 😎

With Tank Crew there are lots of basic ideas still not being addressed.

Firstly, there should be the presence of anti-tank mines (Such as the vastly produced German Tellermine series)

This and second line defenses should have much more towed artillery, AT emplacements and self propelled guns significantly more so than is already in game.

And lastly, ambushes and dug in tanks should be a fairly common encounter for forces on the attack.

How many objects do you put on the map before it all grinds to a halt... consider that.

I think they're focusing most of the TC resources on finishing tanks/map/crew members/a more detailed damage model. While all that other stuff would be cool and hopefully is added, you need the core product first.

Just a comment on the photo of the US tank destroyer in the ditch.

More Shermans were made combat ineffective by that cause alone, than were lost to German tank fire.  Let that sink in for a bit.

Blame the Romans instead, half of it is Latin.

Or 10%, in this case 😀
