Thanks for the great skins Rap. Especially  the Me262 Weiss 3 . I saw this aircraft at the museum in Munich around 1964 or 65.

Please look at the skin you made for P-51 'Josephine'. I think the I and K are reversed on the right side. (never mind I think it is correct)

corrected 252 to 262 never mind

It's an absolute pleasure my friend! The way I look at it is that it's better than doing Airfix kits (which my eyes are pretty much past doing these days anyway!) and you can FLY them after you've finished and if they give other people pleasure then that's an added and very welcome bonus!

When you saw 'Weiss 3' I myself would have been around 3 or 4 so I PROBABLY wouldn't have been there!

'Josephine', as with pretty much all of these planes at this time, was configured like this. You had me panicking for a moment there!!

Anyway, enjoy and I'm glad you like them.

Yes that would be very nice. It also complements your "Josephine" nicely.

I absolutely agree with this. I was born in Chattanooga so that would be amazing to have in game.

Just found this incredible painting. It is the artist who usually is doing the 1CGS artwork, Mr. Antonis Caridis (rOEN911). His site definitively is worth a visit.

Lockheed P-38J-25 Lightning

While this is actually the P-38J-25, it is based on the

P-38H-1, 42-66683 'Pluto'

of the 12th. FS, 18th. FG out of New Guinea in 1943.

This is the reason for it's early style insignia.

ALL the artwork is hand - done, as are most of the other markings... why?, I just LIKE it!!

All the artwork is hand-painted

The skin can be downloaded HERE, as ever.

Thanks once again to @ICDP for his sterling work on the template!!

Based on a P-38G unit 42-2197 'Nulli Secundus - X~Virgin'

flown by Lt. Kenneth G. Ladd of 80th. FS/8th. FG out of Dobodura, New Guinea in the winter of 1943/1944.

It carries the thin white stripes and green markings of the 80th FS on the spinners and vertical stabilisers and the emblem of the Squadron on the portside of the nose.

and it is with great and humble thanks to @ICDP for his work on the template!

P-38J-10 42-67916 'California Cutie'

flown by Lt. Richard O. Loehnert or the 55th. Fighter Squadron, 20th. Fighter Group flying out of Kings Cliffe, England in June 1944.

@ICDP's fabulous template, you KNOW the score!!

Can you please tell me how to remove wheel covers?

It depends on the model really. Most of them, especially the latest ones, have most of their undercarriage and such in the .gtp files and are able to be manipulated but only SEEN with your 'Mods On' checked. The way to make anything 'disappear' is to render it pure black on the Alpha layer. I did it on a couple of MkV Spitfires to make the cannons disappear.

https://youtu.be/PlRYwYJ1ijU

Thing is, it can often interfere with any layer below it in the 3-d model as to render something invisible often has quite a disturbing effect on things near/around it!

Let me know if you have any joy, I'd be interested to see but personally I'm not a fan of the 'mods on' way of doing things, just can't be a***d...

Hi RAP,

i cant like it as all my likes are gone! Sorry!!😐

I dont know if i t is clear what i meant.

Its the round mud cover on the wheels.

The P-51 and the Jug didnt have it.

I see these two versions only on the P-38

Are you referring to these too?

Thanks for your help!

What, you mean the 'hub caps'? It still applies. Like on the Havoc you mean?

They are indeed! See, if you were to 'black out' the hub caps and there was no modelling of anything else immediately behind then you would end up with a tyre with nothing inside it! Interesting but NOT very historical!!

I just noticed, if you look at the P-38 template Alpha there ARE provisions for 'hub caps or not', which involves exactly this, a pure black disc either on or off....
