Let's talk about career

Recommended Posts

How do you think this will look like? I hope it will have really immersive design, not like box that looks so modern but more like wings over the reich. Where you get info on paper, you have a book, stuff like this.

Spoiler

I have no idea what this is, but would love to get this kind of stuff. When you get promotion, transfer or some orders, it will be on paper with a seal and everything.

I would like to see some non combat events like few days off to add some realism as well. Amazing thing would be to have score painted on your plane, updated everyday and detailed score similar to WotR. You need to write what did you shoot, where, when and have someone to confirm it. You should get more than just kills but probably killed and damaged too. (same for ground targets)

And please don't make it like box where every mission is spam of enemy fighters... :nea:

Events would be cool too, for example first jabo strike or bigger bombing runs on london. While it's a career, still it sould have major real events like 15 September 1940  and battle of britain day (i know we won't get 1700+ planes in air, but similar thing. Getting order with this date and "lore" what is going on. Then you could be escort to this bombing. I think game can easly handle 100 planes, i think i used around 60 on my old pc and it was not that bad.

Dunkirk would be must have too. Story would move forward with every day.

Desastersoft (payware) campaigns for CloD has this kind of "diary".

Hello InProgress

Thanks for your note.

We will have campaigns... we have brought in quite a few new people who will be working exclusively on campaigns for TF 5.0... and hopefully they will add campaigns for the existing map too.

Don't think we can add things like victory markings on aircraft at this stage... would require some code work and our coders are already very busy with things like improving weather systems, clouds, engine modeling, damage modeling, etc.  Maybe in the future.

But these will be scripted? Still cool  but i wish one day you guys can make really big SP addon on career mode similar to BoX or Wings over the Reich.

Put the scores on skins yourself. This way there wouldn't  be a lot of coding involved either. They could even make an official stamp or picture for it and sell it for $4.99. This way the developer can make some cash and who ever wanted it can buy it cheaply. If they did this I would defiantly buy one for each country that was involved in ww2. There would probably be over 10 countries stamps.

Would something like this would work??

Curiously when released CloD have something similar for SP, but you need update your score on paint manually, think in "Plane", but seems this vanished in some broken patch after.

OK. I have a personal developer I'LL see what he could do or suggest to that do.

Well i talked to my developer and this what he said.

" Lol I'm your personal developer?"

It's hard to suggest anything without knowing how they do their stuff. Tacking on additional stencils or whatever on existing models can be done a whole bunch of different ways. It could be custom models for the stamps and it would be conditionally rendered on the plane.

It could be done with shader's. Just depends and depending on how they made everything, it could influence a lot of other things. It could interfere with any physics if it's a new model, it could cause performance issues, etc. But more than likely it would have to be done manually for every plane, so it's a lot of work and who knows what their priorities are.
