I am making my first bare metal skin and I am having trouble making the blue color overlay on the nose cowling and D-day stripes to look solid.  The bare metal is coming through! What am I doing wrong?

I think you forgot to copy the markings on the nose and stripes to the Alpha Channel.

Make it and, on the Alpha Channel, paint them darker.

It will work.

You mean use the Alpha.psd, do it in there, merge and flatten it, then replace my Alpha channel?

Exactly

You are having the same problem as DDSnacko was. You need to make an alpha layer where all the painted parts or dark gray or black, this way it will show up in game as a painted area on the plane...What program are you using to paint...?

The Alpha.psd is only to make your skin shiny or opaque.

So, it's reccomended that you copy all emblems and parts that shall not shine to the Alpha and paint them darker... merge all layers and copy it to your main file, in this case, the P-47D-28_4k_Public.psd

Rgr @325th_Bugsyand @9./JG54_Skywarp  thanks I have it all ironed out now. The name beneath the canopy could be darker if I darken it in the alpha, but I am ok with the way it is.  I am working on a proposed non-historical paint for my buds. It will be a while until we fly a Corsair in Il2 BOX :)

Upon your feedback I had the bright idea to use Chrome instead of Firefox for downloading and it worked!

So, thanx a lot for sharing this goreous skin with the community.

Thanks for recognition, I'm not an artist but I try to make it look somehow.

Hi All,

Here's a P-47 camouflage scheme I've always thought was cool.  It's from the 63rd Fight Squadron, 56th Fighter Group late in the war.

Just a little thing. The typing was yellow, not white, but I can live with that.

I did not add the "Big Stud" as I could not find an accurate enough photo that I could use to draw it.

Hi Tom, the best resolution image I could find can be downloaded here, is this any good?

Poochnboo, I did that for the A2A P-47D, easy to make.

the "Big Stud" for our P-47D  I did already, but I did not add as the source we have did not allow me make it  as good as I wanted it to.

I need the kind of photo like the one I had for this one, WIP for this release this week.

Hi Tom was the image link I posted above not of high enough quality? It links to a higher resolution download?

BTW,, look forward to My Gal Sal flown by Wayne Lowry of the 325th FG. I hope you get round to #35, #24 and if you manage to decipher the full tail layout.... #40 "Mary Mac"  (crosses fingers).

I'll do 4 I already did and then a bit later Mary Mac

the Big Stud logo is an irregular font and the end result does look kind of odd, if only I had a close up.

Nope, that's the Razorback. Check my post out above to see the logo. It was on Baselers personal P-47 Bubbletop.
