SCG_motoadve 1893
Was at the Reno air races this weekend, talked at lenght with the previous owner of Miss America P51, multiple winner, who also owns and have owned and flown a Hellcat, a Zero, P40 and lots of warbirds. While talking about the handling, he told me in the P51 at 400mph to make the tight turns at the races he had to use lots of strength, your arm would get really tired, sometimes he turned with both arms on the stick. Those turns looked like a turn that would have been used in real combat. New gen joysticks are real nice and accurate, Vrpil, VKB and just missing force feedback, I am surprised why force feedback is not popular. Are there any after markets add ons we can use for force feedback with current joysticks? (This looks like its for the Warthog http://www.realsimulator.com/html/fssb_r3_warthog.html My friend is a WWII aviation enthusiast and I talked to him about BOS in VR , and the feeling of flight which was impressive to me as a real pilot, so we agree he will come to my house and try BOS in VR, cant wait for his impressions. Of course he invited me to seat on the P51

Your best hope for an new Force Feedback stick is Iris Dynamic. https://vs4.irisdynamics.com/magnetic-force-feedback-joysticks/ This ~2009 concept don't "take off": http://www.paccus.com/forcefeedbackjoysticks/hawk_specs Meanwhile an used Microsoft Force Feedback 2 USB (discontinued in 2003) from eBay is the only viable option. Already have one of those MS FF , but compared to my Virpil with extension, no comparison.. Wish they make an accesorie FF add on that you could put in the current sticks. Sorry, Sokol but I believe neither of those sticks is in production, There is no FF stick around that the normal guy can afford.
malexx74 3
Well old thread but ... If you want good ffb, you have the base. Put an extension too it and scale the force within il2 or software. The potis etc are really strong.you can scale the force as far as you really need strong arms to move the stick

But whould it run with BoS ? The FFB2 is supported. But I don´t think this Brunner will run out of the box, and who would do a driver for BoS ?

We will need a lot more effects to be able to be worth it for IL2 Series

I think it has to do with FFB patents that belong to Logitech if I'm not mistaken. There was a talk that it would expire in 2019/20, but I read somewhere that it still holds some way ot another. Since any brand would have to pay patent fees to Logitech, no one does it anymore. Is that right, people? Any news regarding the patents expiring? von_Michelstamm 192
I don’t think it’s Logitech, but another company that holds the patents. Last ive heard They’ve actively been licensing ffb to controller makers for steering wheels, but flight simmers are too niche to justify the cost.
SeaW0lf 638
There was a thread on DCS about who hold the patents. I'll see if I can find it. Edited December 22, 2019 by SeaW0lf
