I wonder if it will catch fire if you are not gentle on the throttle like in the original il2.  Looks marvelous!

Yea, I´m also wondering if we get the occasional flame out with the Jumo engines.

For many people, it might be just another plane but its a sensation to me.

There are only two WW2 aircrafts, which I've been waiting for such a damn long time to see them in a state-of-the-art flight sim. The Me262 is one of these two aircrafts.

R4M rockets, nice. 👍

I was wondering when someone was going to point that out. Not that it needs them with the 4xMk108 but nice none the less. It will not be the aircraft I fly most often, but awesome that we have it.

So is this an indication that the 262 & the P-47 might be next to be made available in the next update?🧐

Nice DD,

looking forward to this one too.

As i can see its a later type, not the initial one, may be a MTT Rgb.

Thanks

P47, maybe. But not the me262. Its more likely that the me262 will be the last one in release schedule. There was a Q&A with frooglesim.

Jason said: "I don’t have the entire schedule in front of me, but I know the Me-262 will be last to be finished thanks to having to build a jet FM to support higher Mach numbers"

so maybe a year from now until we fly this plane.

Jet fighter FMs...   Mig alley, F86 vs Mig15?

Anyway, back in topic.  Cool pix.  Looking forward to base plating some allied airfields. The 262 is going to be a totally new experience.

On the contrary, the R4M rockets were a welcome addition to the plane, as pilots complained about the extremely short time they had to line up their gunsight for a shot with the cannons. With a barrage of rockets, the aim didn't need to be perfect, and there was the chance of taking out more than 1 plane with such a big salvo.

I know it's not the place to discuss the combat capabilities of the Me-262, but I'm really curious what it will be good for. It has high top speed, but what else?

I spoke with Galland about this and he completely agreed as did many others in JG7 and JV-44.  However, if these damned things did not fire, you could not jettison them as you would a bomb and they just would just hang up from time to time.  I drafted a report and gave it to Galland and all of us shared the same opinion that we should either have reliable weapons or just leave the damned things off the jets."

I believe that this issue was finally resolved in March 1945 on-wards, so it would be great to have this simulated in the game, although I realise it is very unlikely.  For interest, the issue that was causing the problem was that the vibration shook lose some connections owing to the quality of metal/material used.  The In-field mod to resolve the issue was to melt down their Knight's Crosses to use the metal to "redo" the solder connections.  It just goes to show that even a simple thing can cause the biggest problem

Salutations,

It will be a fast well armed Boom N Zoom craft with limited flight time due to fuel usage. One will probably have to be smooth on the throttle with those engines.

Regarding the R4M rockets... I doubt problems with them will be represented in the game. In other words, I expect them to work well.

In the Bodenplatte and related tactical scenarios, the Me262s were used mostly for their speed and ability to carry a pair of SC250 bombs under the front part of the fuselage.

In general, the Me262 is best at speed, with a decent climb rate, and with absolutely incredible firepower with the four MK108 cannons in the nose. It works best against bombers and is definitely not much of a dogfighter.

Thad,

Agreed, however, the engines I believe once up and running were very rarely touched in flight owing to their sensitivity and they tried to anticipate well in advance the throttle settings.  However, I do not believe that even the fitment of automatic throttle regulator always solved the problem.  Although the aircraft was quite maneuverable at high speed it was no dog-fighter and the usual technique was to either climb or dive, although some P-51's soon found out at their expense that taking a Me262 head-on was not the way to go.

However, I'm really looking forward to this kite no matter what it might bring, but I'm hopeful that it will not end up just being a Hangar-Queen.

Regards

It was good for shredding bombers, fast bombing and reconaissance missions as carrried out by NAG 6 with 262A1a/U3.

That would be a variant that could make sense in the game:
