fogpipe 40 Posted August 15, 2018 (edited) Flying germany, have tried, easy and moderate mission settings and flight settings from normal to expert. I saw one or two allied aircraft on the first couple of missions, after than nothing. In game its September 9, 1942 and im flying a bf 109-f4 Edited August 15, 2018 by fogpipe
pilotpierre 783 Posted August 15, 2018 (edited) Are you following your flight path? if you are when you get to the red combat area hit auto pilot and if there is any enemy a/c in the vicinity it will take you to the nearest one. Also bear in mind not all missions encounter enemy a/c. Also Crtl/F2 will show you if there any Enemy a/c on the map somewhere. Finkeren 6031 Posted August 15, 2018 (edited) I wish that was the way my careers went. I’m tired of encountering opposition on virtually every single mission (except for ground cover missions, but we know those are bugged) Edited August 15, 2018 by Finkeren
fogpipe 40 Posted August 15, 2018 Yes i was following the flight path and iirc those were ground cover and ground attack missions. How are ground cover missions bugged? I just flew a bomber intercept mission and there were plenty of bombers and yaks, so maybe it was an anomalous string of missions i got. Thanks for the replies, i didnt know if it was something historical or a bug or what.

I always get nervous over enemy lines though, and my head is literally all over the place wearing the oculus rift. Gives me a thrill every time I fly, I can't imagine ever getting bored of the career mode.

I grew so tired of the same six missions per-type, merry-go-round AI and abysmal radio calls that I had to set the game aside.

I think radio communications between AI and pilots are the biggest flaw with BOX singleplayer. IL-2 1946 made the AI feel alive with all the radio chatter. Sometimes there's just a legitimate 'no enemies' thing. However, the 'bug' seems to be that the enemies only spawn at the instant you've got the 'Mission Complete' message and you're on your way home.

Wierd as I just flew a river crossing cover mission for Luftwaffe in Kuban and we had 2 squadrons of Yak 7's and a squad of P39 L's mixing it up against 2 squads of 109's on our side. Plenty of action and it was air carnage for both sides. Sometimes you get nothing, other times you get the kitchen sink and yet others like a soft column strike I had recently, I led my flight past a flight of LaGG's in a shallow dive and they didn't bother with us but as the soft column was near a VVS field, we had incoming B20's and P39 escorts to play with after we dropped our ordinance on the trucks. Yak 7's are a bit of a challenge for us 109's, must remember to set trim properly when engaging. Not come up against La5FN's or 5's for that matter yet. Nor Pe2's. In Kuban that is. Not boring and leading a flight is fun.

My personal favorite was the reply of the German bomber crews upon the arrival of their fighter escorts: "Holla, die Jäger! Wir sind froh euch zu sehen! Danke für das Geleit, Ende!" Which roughly translates into: 'Hooray, the fighters! We are glad to see you! Thanks for the cover, over!' I really wish we could have things like this back on our ingame radio. And now I'll stop derailing this thread, promised. Edited August 15, 2018 by Fritz_X

The germans in 1946 were very shouty, but I quite liked that? If you were being shot at you'd yell too! Then there were the weird line combos where a pilot would very calmly mention his number, and then scream bloody murder about being attacked!

We have the opposite here. Ive noticed there is one Russian voice in BoX that screams his number and then talks normally afterwards.

-TBC-AeroAce 858 Posted August 16, 2018 I have only played about 10 missions and two of the protect crossing missions consisted of circling the target area with no oposition.
