That’s a red lightsaber, though, so...

I really like the paint erosion caused by the pilot/ground crew boots on the wing root.

Hello - it is an old skin I looked in i-16 skin thread but couldn't find it. Maybe someone else knows.

If not maybe I can upload it somewhere.

After knocking down eight 110s and 109s between us, we head home, slightly battered and with a few bullet holes.  My No.3 wingman had to return early after a cannon shell shredded his starboard wing. He made a safe landing.

'Sweet 16'

A bit slow, not a great climb rate, but armed with a pair of 20mm SHVAKs very dangerous if you get too close. I like to hang around below 500m and wait for skinnies or Stukas coming out of a dive. Got three HS129s on my last mission. (Absolute sitting ducks, slow and ponderous and no rearward armament. 👍✌️)

Those are not screenshots. Just screen cap from Adobe Photoshop, of the special skins for the founders. (Players who ordered Il-2 BOS before it was released). You probably have them too.

I just opened the skins in Photoshop to see how the template is laid out. Photoshop is a pretty powerful program for skining and 2d graphics design. You open the layered template in Photoshop and start painting, then save it in the proper format, in the right folder, so you can see it in game.

Here are those two original skins in game:

Here's anotehr example.

The texture that contains the Panther turret in Adobe photoshop and then in game.

Where can I find this skin?

OR :If anyone has the .dds file on their directory, could they e-mail it to me please?

Thanks

That one was a special skin for founders and it's hard coded into the game , with the default skin. It doesn't show up in the skin folder. I did have a copy of it extracted, back then in the beginning, but after a few computer upgrades and OS  installs, i couldn't find a copy if it anymore.  It may be extractable with some modding tool, but i don't have a copy of it.

I can select it in the game, but can't see the .dds file in the skins folder.

Yea, it was never released for download.   This two were made as a thank you for the preorder customers and were the result of a competition in the early access forum.

This were designs made by players and then we voted on them.

The skin (lagg3s29_unique_01.dds) is embedded in one of the Planes*.gtp files (I'm not sure which one). You can use ungtp.exe to extract the skins from those files.

The Mods section has a download for ungtp.exe and instructions on how to use it. Once extracted copy it to your skins folder and rename it to something you like.

After a long time also again a little story of mine :) The skies of Combat Box are a dangerous place :soldier:

Nevertheless we decided to visit Dortmund's bomber base with the fork-tail devil to deliver some presents...

It was quiet on our way. No sightings, no contact until we came across flak in front of the enemy airfield. Looks like someone else was about to attack it too...

1.thumb.jpg.260b5d48c59df0e4dfcbbd30d833fa84.jpg

We started our dive and the speed indicator jumped up and the heavy flak began to welcome us..

3.thumb.jpg.423baefb2438e6021e5138c27318ac0c.jpg

The Krauts didn't stop us from doing our job...and if you ask me those were beautiful explosions ;)

5.thumb.jpg.92d572d622c737d45aa01c4a309650b1.jpg

But what was that? .... Fighters! we were immediately greeted by a horde of them. A fierce dogfight ensued and events unfolded... 3-4 enemies on my tail followed by wild evasive maneuvers and the attempt to save my squadron leader that had 2 germans behind him...

7.thumb.jpg.6e2d24d3f61616836966895c90f9f56d.jpg

My pursuers were forced off my tail by a squadron mate, but I was too late... My squadron leader disappeared into the green of the woods. His killer followed him through me, but only moments later into the forest and perished in a ball of fire...

8.thumb.jpg.a03b267f63f0fa1ebfbaf060ae66752d.jpg

Then another call for help reached me and I went to the next Bf 109. I started to open fire with my 50.cals , regardless of possible new pursuers...and fired what felt like endless salvos into the Messerschmitt...

9.thumb.jpg.bbb7989ab8ba2f2a6a8664f223a29997.jpg

But finally his wingtip burst and the 109 was no longer able to attack my squadron mate. The Messerschmitt crashed a little later... We were glad to have survived the worst...

10.thumb.jpg.d63bdee9e42b0aca3ca7b14013e3726c.jpg

In the end my elevator failed during my landing and I crashed, but a landing that you survive is a good landing isn't it? My damaged buddy landed safely. Sadly our squadron leader and the 4th of our group were dead or missing. In the course of the fight we had lost contact to number 4. I for one was glad to have survived the mission.

I hope you liked it :)
