Aces in new career ..????

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone,

In the new BOS career mode is it possible to see some aces ??? with matching skins.
In the career of ROF there exists the notion of aces and one can personalize by extracting the files "Skin" located the compressed file "scg"

Thanks..

From one side it would be cool to see some real historical aces flying but then you shooting them down would feel weird, especially if they survived war. Easily shooting down Hartmann or watch him die like typical AI plane in first day of career would be weird :lol: I would love to see them on that newspaper tho.

Are you asking whether they are there now?  The answer is no. AFAIK all you can do is give any of your wingmen a custom skin, but not the enemy AI or other friendly AI flights, which only contain one grade of AI skill depending on your difficulty and default skins.

If you are asking could there be in future: I would like that, but not as a high priority.  Getting the bugs out of career and making the AI behave itself a bit better is more important IMHO.

Generic Skins by squadrons are activated, it is possible to customize the skins by squadron but I'm not sure that it works for aces.

In the career of ROF there exists the notion of aces and one can personalize by extracting the files "Skin" located the compressed file "scg"

This gives this kind of text in a "skin" file read with Notepad

//FRA

[squadron=101003]

                [period]

                               period="1916.09.01","1916.09.30"

                               [skin]

                                               plane="LuaScripts\WorldObjects\Nieuport17Brit.txt"

                                               skin="Nieuport17Brit\N17B_Esc3_camo.dds"

                                               name="Escadrille N 3"

                                               type=0 //0 - common, 1 - ace

                                               probweight=100

                               [end]

                               [skin]

                                               plane="LuaScripts\WorldObjects\Nieuport17Brit.txt"

                                               skin="Nieuport17Brit\N17B_N3_PereDorme.dds"

                                               name="René Paul Dorme"

                                               type=1

                                               probweight=80

                               [end]

                               [skin]

                                               plane="LuaScripts\WorldObjects\Nieuport17.txt"

                                               skin="Nieuport17\N17_101003_ans.dds"

                                               name="Escadrille N 3"

                                               type=0

                                               probweight=100

                               [end]

                               [skin]

                                               plane="LuaScripts\WorldObjects\Nieuport17.txt"

                                               skin="Nieuport17\N17_Deullin.dds"

                                               name="Albert Deullin"

                                               type=1

                                               probweight=80

                               [end]

                               [skin]

                                               plane="LuaScripts\WorldObjects\Nieuport17.txt"

                                               skin="Nieuport17\N17_N1530.dds"

                                               name="G. Guynemer"

                                               type=1

                                               probweight=60

                               [end]

                [end]

By extracting the file "skin" located in SCG of BOS for the campaign of Stalingrad that gives me for example and I personalized the skins including for aces ..

[squadron=201033]

                [period] // Chapters 1-3 (summer and autumn)

                               period="1942.08.23","1942.11.13"

                               [skin]

                                               plane="LuaScripts\WorldObjects\Planes\Bf109F4.txt"

                                               skin="Bf109F4\Bf109F4_skin_03.dds"

                                               name="III./JG 3"

                                               type=0 //0 - common, 1 - ace

                                               probweight=100

                               [end]

                               [skin]

                                               plane="LuaScripts\WorldObjects\Planes\Bf109F4.txt"

                                               skin="Bf109F4\Bf109F4_IIIJG3_Von_Einseidel.dds"

                                               name="Einsiedel H"

                                               type=1 //0 - common, 1 - ace

                                               probweight=5

                               [end]

That is really interesting Marco, I'm looking forward to get home and try modding this. This could allow having a different skin per unit, and even several skins in the same unit.

One skin per unit works, on my game it works but I do not know if we can manage to run several skins per unit
