PANZERKNACKER - Scripted campaign Ver. 4.505

Recommended Posts

Thank you so much for this Walter.  I love the Duck (that sounds wrong) and have been playing it almost all of the time online where it can be difficult as fighter cover is rarely available and I spend more time trying to avoid getting shot down than attacking the tanks (which are hard to kill in the first place!).  This will give some much needed experience and sounds like it has a fantastic atmosphere.

I extracted it first in the root IL2 folder and the campaign folder appeared there.  I didn't appear in game though and so I extracted it instead in the campaign folder and it seems to work fine although in the first mission I just seem to have the default skins.  The briefing mentions selecting a particular skin but I don't see it.  Advice?

Thanks.

Would be cool if people would read the complete topic. It´s only 3 pages 😁

Cheers

On the arming page, skins tab, there is an arrow down to change from default to custom, the skins should be in there.  Otherwise you may have to move them manually into the Hs-129 folder.

For some quick tank busting practice you can also d/l the single player mission pack from Jade Monkey.  There is a duck tank busting mission with unlimited ammo.

Mission 2 is impossible to complete for me...we destroy all the tanks on the road but that says : "Mission no completed'....It seems you'v forgot to put a mission objective on it ;)

Still ground looping on nearly every take off...ok.... make that every takeoff. This is one of the toughest aircraft to get off the ground not just on the first mission but all of the missions... Are there Russian partisans hiding just off the runway shooting my tires off Oh how I wish for the cheat of auto pilot...sigh....😪

Thank you sir for that awesome campaign!

I really appreciate the time & effort you spent on this. I imagine there was quite some time spent on historical research!

Thanks for sharing this with the community.

I was having a real blast dodging flak, blowing bridges and busting tanks 🙂 - still need to complete the last mission though!

@Blitzen: I had lots of trouble taking off initially, too -->The trick for me was to use only wheel brakes (not the rudder) to keep the plane straight - and pushing the throttle slowly

Hi Folks,

First ever post! I'm loving the game and especially this campaign as a ground pounder, thank you Walter  :) However....

Mission 1 - I simply cannot get back to base without being jumped by four Mig 3s halfway home. I must have played through over twenty times, varying routes, dogfighting, I've even managed to take down a couple before getting shot down, yet again!

I see the Northern return route with the convoys has some friendly heavy anti air but sticking around those hasn't helped either!

Any advice would be very much appreciated!

Many thanks in advance

@FofS216

Hello and welcome to the forum!

On the first mission on the way back to base, when the migs catch up, the only way to evade them is flying on the deck. Literally about a couple meters off it. Follow the road that goes back to the airfield. Staying up against the trees.
this will keep you in one piece. When you make it to the airfield circle low until the AAA takes care of the threat.
I hope this helps, I have to say I really love this campaign as well! I’m on my third time flying it and it never gets old!

:salute:

Thanks for the campaign! Good opportunity to fly on Henschel.:pilot:

I also liked that the map is mainly summer Stalingrad. She is beautiful, and in the official career there is no time to fly there. I also drew attention to the talent of the architect. A lot of buildings and fortifications were built.

For myself I made a translation into Russian.

Also for 4.005 I had to follow these instructions. Because otherwise the bridge was not destroyed by a 50 kg bomb.

Thank you very much, I will add your translation to russian for the next update !

With this values, the bridge is destroyed if you put 2 x 50kg or 3 x 50kg bombs into each bridge. I tested after last update.

Good day!

Apparently I was not very accurate bombing. :) But when the script changed all the values, then it became enough for me to use one SC50 bomb.

Took me a couple of tries, what worked well was flying very low and when a Mig gets close chop throttle and he'll overshoot you then pull up and blast him

Don't think so. At least I had to resave it in the mission editor to be able to play it on the latest version.

You have start the editor from <install folder>/bin/editor/STEditor.exe. Then "Tools"->"Resave all missions in Folder"-> point to the folder where the campaign is installed (under data/campaigns). That should do it.

Sorry.  I do not like this campaign.  While it may be possible to return safely to the airfield, it is nearly impossible to do so.  There is a huge number of enemy fighters and it seems they are only maniacally focused on destroying the HS-129 pilot.  Nothing else.  Flying very low to the ground on the return, they still spot you from many miles away and zero in on only you. And any other outcome but landing safely at the original airfield is a failure.  I appreciate the hard work you put into this but I will not be continuing with the campaign.  It is an exercise in futility.

I guess you didn't get past the second mission... I agree that the first and second mission are hard to finish but once you are passed them this campaign evolves into an excellent piece of work! 🙂 Actually, the rest of the missions are not that hard (but very varying and fun).

This campaign was very good imho but if the creator should change something, it could be to tune down the level of difficulty of M1 and M2.

Frosen is right, only the first mission is very difficult, the others are not. I enjoyed this campaig a lot! it is one of my favorite campaings so dont give up and play it. If the first mission is too dificult for you, I think you can skip it by just taking off, turn around and landing on the airfield. That works with allmost all campaings.

Thanks for the suggestion of turning around and landing to get past the mission and on to the next.  That worked.  The first mission was simply too frustrating and artificially so.  I completed the second mission and it was much better.  The second was not difficult to complete but again there was the artificial factor.  I had completed my run and we were warned that more enemy fighters were coming: go home.  So I did.  I was alone for two-thirds of the way and no one following me.  Suddenly something like 9 Russian fighters come tearing after me.  Why?  How did they know where I was and why would they risk the AA at the airfield miles inside enemy territory just to chase one little HS-129?   A bit unrealistic if you ask me.  Anyway, I enjoy flying the plane and will use the campaign as an opportunity to get to know the aircraft better.

Doesn't work.

Extracted Panzerknacker folder to Il2 Main. No joy.

Extracted data folder to IL2 main per above. No joy. Campaign hangs in mission description.

*** Is this due to the fact I have IL2 for Steam?

What game edition did you own?

I think you need "Battle of Stalingrad" and you also need the collectors plane "Hs-129 B-2" to run this campaign.

@totalize: did you resave the campaign missions as advised by Hanu?

Actually, this is necessary for all old missions / campaigns...

see previous post by Hanu on 17. Oct.:

"You have start the editor from <install folder>/bin/editor/STEditor.exe. Then "Tools"->"Resave all missions in Folder"-> point to the folder where the campaign is installed (under data/campaigns). That should do it. "

Thanks, Hanu.

Hi pilots:

I will re-up all my campaigns to new IL-2 updates. A lot of work can`t put time to update all my campaigns. But during this days I will have time to make that work.

After some missions, you will be transferred to the Tatsinskaya air base where is the squad Schlachtgeschwader 1, Gruppe II, commanded by Hptm Paul-Friedrich Darjes.

During July 1942, in Operation Barbarossa, Gruppe II of the Schlachtgeschwader 1 moved to Tatsinskaya in July and Tusov in August to support the 6th Army during the advance to the Don, and later to Stalingrad, which started on June 25.

Also, added 2 more maps in winter located in November, 1942 (non-historical)

The skins are the first I have learned to do and are not 100% historical.

I am on Mission 8 or thereabouts now.  Very nice.  Aside from the extreme difficulty of the first mission (please, move it to the end!), the missions are very enjoyable and I like the variety.  Not attacking the same targets every time and not always dealing with enemy fighters.  Good mix and realistic.  Thank you, Walter!
