Actually, the Mouchotte's plane was a Mk IX.c with au round tail.

You nailed it Z. If anything the small rivets were almost flat (as they are meant to be 'flush')

The Spitfire use a mix of flush and domed rivets, depending on location, which has an interesting story behind it. Flush rivets create less drag, but domed rivets are easier to use, especially in places where internal access is limited. The process for deciding which to use where involved glue and a bag of split peas: :biggrin:
