This happened to me yesterday also, flew 109 to Moza on Friday and was able to start from there on Saturday but after landing again it was blocked. Was not damaged or anything.

Can be strafing, or airfield switching hands back and forth. This wipes reservations. If it’s in the same mission, you need to give it at least 2 minutes for the plane list to update after finishing mission.

I rather like this server. As a novice, I thought that navigating with no map icon to show my position was going to be a massive problem, but not too bad on my first attempt. I managed to ferry a 110 to a forward airfield, then take it out on a bombing mission. Luckily there was a river following the axis (heh) that I needed to travel on to the target. I took out a few buildings before AA got a shot on me and took me down.I think with an escort (or if I had made a pass at the AA first) I would probably have made it out alive. I'll definitely be back on this server!

Actually the answer is in the manual : when you land a plane on an airfield, it will spawn as a static plane for next missions.
And if an enemy destroys this static plane on the airfield (bombing, straffing... crashing on the ground too close to it...), you lose this plane.

Welcome on board and congrats for your first successful navigation on an Expert server!

Just a word of advice : straffing AA alone isn't a good idea, especially if there is a mighty Soviet 61-K canon. This one is deadly, and if you don't destroy it first, you're basically dead.
I suggest you to practice dive bombing, run away from your bombing zone as fast as you can, and dodge bullets by doing maneuvers for 3 minutes during your escape run. 
61-K canons have no tracer shells, so keep dodging even if you see nothing, you never know... I made the mistake quite a few times to think that I was safe after 1 minute, and boom got a shell right in the cockpit

How about making re-captured aircraft available on a first-come first-serve basis when an airfield is retaken?

I have something like that planned. In short, planes that are in excess of reservations, if any, will be usable by anyone and the AI. Possibly with a quota reserved for the AI, if people drain that pool too fast.

Landing with unreserved planes would not give a reservation. Those would effectively be "community planes".

It will also be possible for people to donate some of their reserved planes to community, should one want to generously help their side.

Yeah, thanks for the reminder Centx.  I'm sure this is the what happened.  When this server was 'young,' & I was playing it more often, reserved planes at forward bases often lasted 2-3 days or even longer.  But those days are over, especially with a couple of folks apparently spending half as much time here every week as I spend at my full time job in the same period.  :biggrin:

Nice ideas, Coconut - they have the potential to be really helpful especially for those of us who love your server but can't afford to treat it like a 2nd job.  The last one is very creative.  A few people might even be that unselfish once in a while.

Hi Coconut, There still seems to be a problem with your Normal server. I can get into all other servers....other than your Normal server.

What could be the problem?

Thanks Coconut. I managed to get two flights in then it wouldn't allow me to fly again......I left the server and then it wouldn't allow me to rejoin. There is a serious problem (I think)

Hi Coconut, For three days I am having problems getting into the Normal server and I still cannot get onto the server. I have tried coming out of the game and going back into it and that doesn't work. All the problems started after the update on IL2.

I hope you can sort it out.

Problem with connecting and ending missions seems to be sporadic. After landing it can take four or five minutes before you can select "Finish Mission", however, after bailing out one time it was available right away. Just have to be patient after landing. Also, as you remarked coconut, deleting the local mission files cleared-up the connecting issue. Got 85Cam back on after I got him to delete the mission files. Thanks again for all of your hard work and time maintaining these servers.

Although I don't have the problem to join any of those good and populated servers at the moment, I observed the fact since the new update

that the loading times till you sit in the cockpit increased dramatically and when it happened to me first time I thought my game was hanging.

 

But because I was patient in this very moment the game suddenly came back and the loading screen appeared finally. Also, I noticed some

micro stuttering coming up again - a problem which I didn't have in the last months.

 

And the same phenomenon can be reproduced and observed when doing some QMB with lots of ground targets:

- If I select - let's say - only trains as ground targets, the mission will load quite instantly, although not as fast as before the new update.

- If I select all possible ground targets, then the mission will take some time to load and the mouse pointer stays quite a while on the start

  button without being able to move - as if the game was hanging. And all of this, of course, accompanied with some nice micro stuttering.

 

I have nearly the same system like Centx has - I know it's not brand new, but still acceptable - and I didn't have any trouble before. And btw.

it doesn't seem to be related to system configuration, as there are plenty of chaps with monster rigs having the same pita.

I deployed an update today which should start take effect in the coming hours. This update does two things:

  • Limit number of tank battles to 1 (before it was 2)
  • Total number of AA guns is at most 200

That should help, I think.

Hi !

Coconut,  today Fw-190 can not take bombs,why !? If you could take P-47 (if it was in the missions), people would lynch you ;)

Hello coconut, currently the server notifications lag somewhat behind. Just got kicked 20min after I took off because I was not allowed to take Pe-2 s.87 from Novorossiysk. Happend to FF_Groucho and others, too!

When I complete a run and land the plane and press escape the screen to end the mission does not appear.

 

Nor can I change settings in flight by pressing escape it does not want to.

Yes. It happens to me sometimes as well. Alt+Tab put and then back into the game solves the issue for me.

There was something strange going on this evening after patch at least with AI, planes were vanishing and popping up in different places on three computers at the same battle. We also watched one burning LaGG going towards the sun and never coming back, guess UFO abducted his sorry ass and got the kill. http://coconutside.eu:8080/en/sortie/log/62936/?tour=6

 

Anyone else saw this, I think guys from 56RAF did mention something about 109's disappearing?

Confirmation from "the other side". Discovered red AI patrol, dove on it and when I was almost in guns range, the AI plane's vanished. I climbed back up, after a while saw both of them below me, climbing after me. Boom on them again, they vanish again. After third attempt with the same result I let them be.

Hasn't happened with player controlled planes. Spent about 1 hour escorting three attackers, these have never disappeared.

Thanks for answering Jakob, now we know that the problem did exist with red AI. Unfortunately I didn't see any blue AI the whole evening, so maybe VVS didn't see either? Anyway,  I'm reporting this to bug section, if it's still happening tonight.

56RAF guys saw disappearing AI 109's, I spoke to them to confirm last night, same with us having disappearing AI VVS fighters.

Seeing the same issue on the normal server. Pull in on a 109's six and at about 300 meters it just disappears. It does seem that they reappear at the spawn point. Had this happen four or five times. Will see if anyone has posted a bug report.

This might be related to the timer changes recently introduced. I might have to change some of my timer-based logic that controls spawning of AI planes.

Retnek and/or his gunners shot down 2 of those 4 fighters shooting him up. Perhaps the relative damage caused by the survivors did just not add up for a kill?

I suggest you look again at the amount of damage done to the A-20,

 

ACG_Otthold  did 7.9%

I did 33.5%

Black-Bart  did 46.1%

 

That's 87.5% damage and he was still flying, THEN,

=LwS=Balapan  did another 8% damage before the A20 finally span into the ground and "ditched", no-one got the kill.

I believe to remember that Blackbart and Otthold died. That leaves less than 50% of the damage done for the survivors, which is what I wanted to transmit. Now, if that has an influence on kill crediting, I do not know, I was just guessing and trying to find an answer to your question.
