Hostilities resume on Cuban and SteveF's Syndicate server this Thursday evening. All are welcome to join.

We've had solid numbers the last few weeks so this should be a good one.

US103rd will have a livestream from around 8:30pm (EDT) going here  https://www.youtube....DrTN6Q/featured

and JG1_R. Recon might be recording for JG1 as well.

See you all up there!

Salute all! After a few months' absence, I've reentered the fray once again. Glad to see Thursday nights still going! 😄

Had an awesome time scanning the skies and facing some stiff competition with the US103rd! You guys were good when I left, but I would dare say that you've all gotten even better! Very good cohesion & teamwork!

After the serious flying, I went and had a series of hilarious duels on New Fliers and Friends. Apparently my Camel and DH.4 skills need to be dusted off lol.

Anyway, you can catch the livestream here:

Also, you can get a view from the other side with US103_Baer's excellent YouTube stream here:

Salute all!

Was quite the interesting night on Wargrounds this evening!

You can see my archived livestream here:

https://www.twitch.tv/videos/333440900

You can also see US103_Baer's livestream from the Entente perspective here:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=16a7upjPxPw

(Twitch stream 0:00:00 - 1:03:48)

We started off with some super high-alt attempts to engage the US103rd in our Pfalz D.XIIs, Fokker D.VIIfs...and Dr 1s. (We dragged poor AngryGoat up to nosebleed altitude in his Dr 1. Upon his return to our lines, we were only able to stave off the effects of severe hypoxia with craft beer and assurances that we wouldn't do that to his beloved Dr 1 again.)

(Twitch stream 1:07:00 - 2:16:28)

Following that, we headed to the claustrophobic skies of winter Cappy, where JG1 and J30 teamed up to try some 2 seater formations with Halberstadt CL.2s and Rolands. (Someone reported seeing a random Brandenburg W.12 in the area as well...I wonder who that could have been? ;)) Had some interesting run-ins with the US103rd once more, and some entertaining dogfights with a brave man flying a Sopwith Triplane and one particular Cuban gentleman in a SPAD 7.

(Twitch stream 2:18:00 - 2:39:00)

I then decamped to NFF in search of some PvP action. No luck, so I took an S-22 and tried to brush up on my level bombing. After the bombs were dropped, I attempted to dogfight the AI in my trusty Russian passenger plane. :P

(Twitch stream 2:40:00 - end)

Still searching for PvP action, I returned to Wargrounds determined to have some fun. One life to live was earlier; now it's time to live like there's no tomorrow! Thus, we took a hypnosis-inducing paintscheme in our gun-packed DH.4 and attempted to draw some planes into a fight. After that, it was back to NFF for some really hilarious dogfighting action with some dedicated Camel pilots, including the one and only Voodoo! (Several collisions may have been involved...my apologies, Herr Voodoo!)

All in all...I had way too much energy last night. This is what happens when I take a 3 hour nap in the afternoon. :P:lol:

Big salute to the US103rd! You guys are maintaining your discipline and cohesion. But you still manage to have fun, which really is why we fly this sim. (On that note, seeing Parsons demonstrate low-altitude bombing techniques at 0:09:35 on Baers YouTube stream is the funniest thing I've seen in ROF livestreams for a while lol!)

"This story shall the good man teach his son;
And Crispin Crispian shall ne'er go by,
From this day to the ending of the world,
But we in it shall be rememberèd—
We few, we happy few, we band of brothers;
For he to-day that sheds his blood with me
Shall be my brother; be he ne'er so vile,
This day shall gentle his condition;
And gentlemen in England now a-bed
Shall think themselves accurs'd they were not here,
And hold their manhoods cheap whiles any speaks
That fought with us upon Saint Crispin's day."

Salute gents!

Here's last night's livestream:

And here also is the right Hon. Baer's stream from last night's festivities:

(Twitch stream 0:00:00 - 2:00:52)

One Life to Live, baby! JG1 takes Pfalz D.XIIs in an effort to intercept the US103rd. After about an hour's uneventful patrolling, the sky lights up and our forces collide in what can only be described as a stunning win for the US103rd. Following this, we dust ourselves off and are airborne again and, while escorting J30 in their trademark Gotha, we once again clash forces against the US103rd, this time putting up a very determined resistance and...dare I say...sending them running for home. [But Herr Hotlead, ve also vere running for ze hills at ze end of that one, ja?] Maybe...

(Twitch stream 2:03:08 - end)

Afterwards, we embark onto Hillbilly's "Ma and Pa's Basement" server for a good ol' fashioned round of E3s vs DH2s. Soon, the map switches, and we take Nieuports vs some very determined Albatros D.IIs. Not a banner night for me; by the end of the night, the Germans had a separate scrap yard dedicated solely to the wrecks of my machines. :P Ah, well. Live and (re)learn! During the latter part of the stream, I got the opportunity to share comms with none other than the US103rd's own Larner and Talbot! Always a pleasure talking with you guys! 😄

Until next time!

Since Thanksgiving Day is this Thursday for all our American pilots, I realize some (myself included) won’t be able to make it tomorrow evening. For those who are still interested, however, tomorrow's fly in will be held on Wargrounds.

Last night was interesting to say the least. High formations of SPADs, Breguets, and even a very scrappy pilot in an N.28 all combined to make life difficult for the Huns.

Here is the stream from the Bosche point of view:

And here is Baer's stream from the Allied side of life:

Thanks to all who came out! You guys are keeping this event cruising along! :)

Cuban has set up a good sounding map for this week on the Cuban and SteveF Syndicate Server. Details here https://riseofflight...eres-june-1918/

It's set near Armentieres so do drop in and parlez avec Marie LeCoq at the Café de la Paix if you get a chance 😉

A little late posting last Thursday's stream, but here it is at last! (Better late than never, eh? :P )

And here is US103_Baer's excellent stream:

Had some absolutely AWESOME action on Cuban's server tonight! US103rd SPAD formations combined with 4 ship Dolphin formations, plus a couple high altitude two seaters made for the most intense action I've seen since my return to ROF! Afterwards, had a very nice chat with Larner & Hunter, and after that, had some DH.2 vs E.III action on the Ma and Pa's Basement server.

Big thanks to everyone who came out tonight! Looking forward to next Thursday night! 😄

We had some absolutely wicked fights last night! Started out the night with MASSIVE Central formations contesting the skies over Metz against Pups, Triplanes, and SPAD 150s (although SPAD 180s would have been nice to have for the Allies). After that, we traveled to Metz bomber offensive where there were some absolutely bloody conflicts in the claustrophobic skies over Metz! (One fairly funny moment that I caught just now... at 1:41:41, when I was dead-stick landing after oiling my engine chasing a SPAD, I actually got turned around and landed in enemy lines. And I didn't even realize it that night lol!)

Hilarious Talbot!

Great turnout again, around 40 for 2nd week running. The sight of those large plane formations is just so impressive, thanks everyone who came out.
I don't know how many JG1s were up but it felt like the whole damn Circus! Amazing to see. :icon_e_salute:

Not a good night for me but a fully crewed J30 Gotha is serious business and i made a careless final run on it, with predictable results. Salute to Hangman, Mein and Hammer.
Earlier we got a good bounce on a formation of Pfalzs in our anemic SPAD 150s and both JG1 Loopy and Hotlead were in my sights when they got 'Break!' calls so it could have been a very different night :icon_e_biggrin:

Here's our stream of Lille -Early(!?) and Metz with timestamps in description.

Missed some of the 2nd half Metz fights, but Hotleads stream should have them

Well, it was an awesome night, with the server very much alive indeed! After some delightful massed formation engagements, I went on to Flying Circus 1 for my first time. I have to say that I am impressed, even though it is still very much a work in progress. Expect to see me there more often after Thursday nights!

Here is last night's livestream on Twitch:

I won't be able to make next Thursday due to having family over for Christmas, but the event will still be open for anyone who wants to join on Wargrounds! :icon_e_wink:

Good to be back up flying after a break.

Spent much of the night searching high and low for enemy. High for JG1 and low for J30 :icon_e_biggrin:  Only bumped into JG1 once but we couldn't do much that high and had to dive out.

Longdong and Rubber Ducky joined us on ts and we did battle with J30 and their escorted Gotha several times, (that Talbot frag will live long in the memory!), searched enemy territory again, and then ended the night with a sweet 'Larner dive' on a CL2 that Talbot dragged nicely.

Salute to everyone who came out.

Here's our stream, with timestamps. http://youtu.be/pEtMWEb2Vy4

As might be expected when action is slow, the banter ramps up - you've been warned  :D

Ok, that frag on Talbot + you guys' reaction was priceless lol!

Yes, we spent a lot of time up high last mission. We were able to get our Pfalzes up to about 6k...but this did not satisfy JG1_Vikner, however. He proceeded to shoot for the moon...and clawed his way all the way up to a historic 8 kilometers high. O_o

Not a whole lot of engagements that night, but good teamwork and excellent formation flying to all involved! :)

After this, a few of us decamped to Flying Circus where I ended my evening with a twisting, turning dogfight in my SPAD against a gallant Pfalz D.IIIa. I haven't had that much fun in a SPAD in a long time! 😄

I'll see you all on Wargrounds next Thursday! :salute:

Last night, JG1 decided to switch things up to keep it fresh. The previous Thursday, we were up at 6k. This Thursday, we were down in the weeds in our bombers, pushing the objectives! We had a very successful night on the first map, turning it around in very quick fashion - not to mention scoring some air kills along the way! The next map was Metz. Traditionally, the Huns are supposed to be relegated to stooging around their own lines to stave off the inevitable bombing offensive from the Allies. Well, we decided that we'd had enough of that. It was time to take the fight to the enemy!  B)  Thus, we lifted off in our trusty Rolands and Halberstadts and bombed out their airfields. Not in a long time have the Allied hangars burned in Metz as they did that night! Although the casualties for us were high, we managed to shut down both of their airfields (although not simultaneously as we had hoped).

After all this, we decamped to Flying Circus for some fun dogfight action on the JG1 server. Really looking forward to the future of this title!

All in all, it was a fun night! Big salute to all who came out and filled the skies! We'll catch you next week on Cuban's server! :)

Looking forward to getting back on Cuban and SteveF's Syndicate Server this week.

I missed the action last week, which was a shame as i heard there were plenty of juicy 2-seaters roaming around  :D

All welcome to join the fun as usual.

Salute to all who came out.

I certainly had a few lucky breaks this week. Could've died 4 times, should've died once. But will take the luck when it comes. :)

Certainly won't be taking off into clouds or landing cross-wind again soon.

Interesting to note we couldn't out-climb the J5 DIII's in SpadVII 180s at high alt. We got level fairly quick, but near 5k climb performance just disappeared. Yes, mixtures and temps were constantly optimized.

I think the high altitude performance of the Albatrosses was screwed up back when they did the camel nerf patch as I have experienced that before.  Would be something worth testing for the hell of it.

Salute to all the pilots who flew and help keep these sessions such good fun. A good turnout of 25+ with most of the evening spent on the Spring Verdun - Late map.

Central's ground attack prowess had them winning that map again. Once we realised there was no high threat we concentrated on the incoming 2-seaters but when the low Gothas started coming over it was probably just a matter of time.

Here's our stream, with action Timestamps in the description.

https://youtu.be/wvW1_EcOEgE

The squadron did well this week but nothing really flowed 1st Flight's way and every 3-gun Albatros seemed determined to seek out 3rd flight!

But that's the way it goes sometimes and we still had some good engagements, and captured a really funny Gotha - HP - Gotha dogfight near the end.

Was fun indeed, @US103_Baer! I got on about an hour late, but got to participate in some nice furballs on the first map before we switched over to Gothas in the next map. We got 5 Gothas in a high-altitude formation at one point and level bombed an airfield, which was good fun! After this, I switched to Il-2 and tried some tanks. Conclusion? I suck as a tanker!  To cap it all off, I went to Flying Circus and had some really entertaining 1 on 1 duels with @GCF. Was a pleasure flying with you Sir!

See you guys on Cuban's server next Thursday!
