Yep, I go online to fly the FW in the fighter role, it's what I enjoy doing and no, I'm not even a little bit sorry for it.

If you enjoy mud moving then I guess your just a more well-rounded and all-around better person than I am.

Hitting the tanks keeps the map open for all of the rest. I usually hit a tank (or train), maybe two, then DF for the rest of the map. Afterall, I am a Jagdflieger. :)

I think it's funny that first thing, someone latches on as if I was talking about them personally, even funnier given what I actually typed.

I should say that back in the day I fit that description...I just wanted kills.

I started having more fun when I let go of that, and just became focused on the mission, whatever the mission.

Be it mud moving, bomber escort. Those types are more fun to fly with as well IMHO.

That's all I'm saying.

I love flying fighters too, and when I'm not up to my eyeballs in the editor and start flying again, I'll spend my share of time in the Yak and 190.

Back to tanks...there's real potential there, even though it will never be a fleshed out armor sim.

I haven't had the opportunity to attack a player driven tank yet...I'll bet that adds to the fun factor.

Tried one of the included tank missions again earlier this week - remembered to start my engine so I could move this time, which definitely helped :)

Had a bit of trouble figuring out what was going on, but managed to kill 5 of the Russian vehicles (no T34s) before they knocked out my PzKw III.  Will have to brush up on my key assignments (e.g., couldn't switch between AP and HE ammo on that run, which led to running out of ammo which led to one torched PzKw III) and give it another try sometime soon.

Not sure yet why anybody would ever use what I guess is the driver position, since with that view you can't really see or hit anything, whereas in what I guess is the gunner position you can see, hit and drive, but maybe that will become apparent as I play around with them more.

It's a maturity thing with some Murf (everyone please note I didn't say ALL so remain calm)
Once you grow out of the ego-driven need to get kills, you realize mud moving is about the most fun you can have. Getting in, avoiding notice, delivering your ordinance and landing safely back at home is about as rewarding as it gets.

At the very least, it's nice to not be, and not have to fly with one trick ponies.

These types of missions are more fun to build as well.

Salutations,

I totally agree. Participating in a 'realistic' manner ie. getting in, avoiding notice, delivering ordinance or engaging in dogfights and landing back home safe is the essence of a truly successful mission and

is most rewarding.

If there are tanks or trains on the map I fly at least one Jabo mission per day before jaunting off into the wild blue for some DF. I'll even do some airfield AAA suppression if I see bombers at altitude. Take some pressure off them and hit those distracted bastards on the ground giving them a hard time.

In my opinion a possible lineup for Kuban could be a Panzer IV Ausf H, and a KV-1S. Both are able to take out each other reliably.

I definitely support some added tanks as I frequently visit the server CUJO is referring to (1CGS Official Normal) gotta agree with his frustrations. There is always one T-34 driver who believes the greatest fun in life is ending the map as quickly as possible. I'll admit there is also that one 111 or stuka with an 1800 kg bomb hell bent on erasing airfields but at least I can stay in my La-5.

This could easily be remedied by a playable Panzer IV or Stug III. This would draw more lufties to play tanks and also give them a better fighting chance. 1CGS Normal has markers so it is difficult to put a Panzer III within usable gun range without it getting damaged first so there's more often then not no Axis tanks.

Ground attacking on Wings of Liberty or Random Expert is a joy, even taking out the bombing targets on 1CGS Normal is fun. Committing your flight time to bombing a tank driver until they quit just to prevent the map from rotating in 10 minutes is not.

Adding more player controlled tanks models would (at least for the 1CGS Official Normal Server) turn a chore into a more enjoyable objective.

I totally agree with the above comments....and I would buy too Blitzen !! its discouraging when shooting 20 times with AP and very little if any effect on T 34...they take one shot and you're gone. P.S. Super ET really like those pics.
