Idea? Fi-156 Storch and Po-2!

Whichever they decide one, both have advantages and disadvantages. Po-2 is likely much less work than a fully fleshed out Li-2 but also terribly slow and less effective marketing wise.

 

Furthermore the Po-2 could serve as an observation and reconissence aircraft but that would create a lack in the LW plane set much like the current transport aircraft situation.

 

The Li-2 on the other hand would give the VVS a long desired alternative level bomber although quite inferiour to the Pe-2 with bad performence, protection and low payload.

Well, all the players that think the Po-2 won't sell [Edited] They are just against women in Flight Simming. I am absolutely certain that it opens a completely New Market giving female players Heroes they can identify with, like the Night Witches to crush the Patriarchy of the 3rd Reich.

 

Why don't you want women in this game?

Female Soviet pilot flew bombers (587th Bomber Regiment, Pe2), fighters (586th Fighter Regiment, Yak1), types that we already have in game...They were not  only flying po2 as some seem to suddenly believe... :huh: 

 

That said i'm all for the Po2 at some point when we will have something like a Bf108 Taifun, those are more liaison types than cargo.To me Soviet cargo/transport should be Li2, it will make a more interesting thing to fly for dedicated cargo pilots.

The Ju-52 is listed at 210kph,, yet ingame it is mostly flown around 230-240kph.

 

Documented @ 260-270kph, and happily does 260 in the sim.

When you say listed, where is that exactly? In the game itself? I haven't looked at it's page there yet.

That's Top Speed, but Cruising Speed is normally between 180-210. 

 

Cruise on the Po-2 is a civilian 110, but Maximum is around 155. 

 

Ingame People cruise the 52 at 230-240, so my guess is that the Po-2 will also be cruised at much higher Speeds than the Civilians one would.

I really don't see the sense to another Bf109 when there are far more interesting planes that can be used to make

truly diverse missions. Having had a lot of experience with planes like the Storch and Hs123 I can see their value

when good missions are written for them. They make a good break from those fighter missions and their slower

pace means you get to fly longer in these relatively small maps. The Po.2 is good for this as well. They also add

more of a strategy element to the missions when it comes to surviving those annoying fighter attacks...

Something else to note about the Po-2: one of the developers (I think it was Han) said that they would like to do Korea at some point.

Have no idea about the match with Po 2 but it would make more sense than Storch.

 

Storch is just a aero-taxi/liaison aircraft. There is absolutely no task it can fulfill in Il-2 game environment. Thus it's just a waste of limited resources. The Hs 126 is "better" plane since it was used for close tactical recon/artillery spotting missions. So it could be used to some extend.

No right or wrong here, but they're just 2 more fighters...we're not hurting for more of those where the Eastern Front is concerned.

I think the most valuable thing would be adding additional gameplay dynamics, which the Po-2 and Storch both offer.

I don't really see the Sorch having as much versatility as the Po-2, as much as I like it, I don't really see it having as much of a Place as a Fw189 which could also be used for harassment.

For offline I can see the Storch kind of working, well except for the AI AAA gunners that will shred it at every turn.

 

In multiplayer it will be a slow, short ride to a smoking hole in the ground as it will be easy prey for even the most inexperienced pilots, and still have to deal with the AI AAA gunners.

I think the challenge of ingress/egress at tree top level, using terrain and clouds on the Kuban map would be too much fun. :)

Why would you fly with it into enemy territory? This can work in multiplayer with missions around friendly territory, fly from airfield to airfield with officer, evacuate someone, recon mission etc. Fly low and do task far away from frontline and should be good. I would rather buy this than another version bf109. New plane, new gameplay options, more fun while new fighter will not bring anything new to game. After these little planes I would love to see seaplane (:

Reconnaissance, night bombing, artillery spotting, SAR, supporting Partisan operations, sneaky low altitude daylight bombing... I'd definitely take the U-2 all the way to Berlin if I could.

 

Servers like Random Expert reward that. Coming in between the trees and following roads and rivers until you bump into something, drop a pair of FAB there, alert the position and head home.
