Post Updated!

I think I can presuade a few Ju52 fans who are friends of mine to try this game(their main grip is that they play WT and say that this sim will be too hard to get into). Perhaps it should be a massive paradrop somewhere on the other bank of the Volga, with tons of AA, AT and artilery guns all over the place.

This is wonderful to get new players OUTSIDE of Il2 fanbase.

With some adaptations, it is easy to fly tante ju.

We can not use the flaps , we do not have to bother about pitch and radiators (leave them open all the time)

So I believe I could do a "very easy tutorial for beginners" which will suit them.

We need a dedicated server for Tante Ju I believe, that has to be done somehow

Here an interesting story of german build Ju-52's operated by an Australian aviation company after the war: http://www.goodall.com.au/australian-aviation/junkers%20ju52/junkersju52.html

It has some very interesting quotes about the Ju 52's capebilities:

Thank you, will update my initial post Updated

As usual, some juicy screens of this flying joy!

I have to say, I've been loving this airplane, and I'd gladly support more like it. Love that you can trim it carefully and steer with your feet, lean back with a beer and watch the scenery slide by.

Anyone knows whats up with the landing gear? On IRL pictures the landing gear looks really thin compared to the one we got ingame. I guess it has do do with versions but on almost all pictures I find they got the thinner landing gear version. Anyone got some more info about this?

Hi!

Thank you for giving your love to this post guys!

@Thenorm, 216th_Pinko, thank you for your reviews. Post updated!

***************

First off,

For being coordinated at random expert, (and other multiplayer), Don Quijote and I invite you to connect to the AIRLIFTER channel with the Discord  (multi platform com app) https://discordapp.com/

It is Simple, Easy, Effective like Tante Ju!

>>>>>>https://discord.gg/mYtxxw8<<<<<<<

I don`t know if you guys know or maybe already use the Discord app.For those who do not know it,it is a very handy app that can be used for
chat messenges as well as voice communications. And it can be installed on your PC and on smartphones:
https://discordapp.com/
The 216th squadron uses it and in ZG1 we also made much use of it,because it is unbeatable handy for making appointments for flights, planning stuff, share information and links, stay in contact with your squadmates
and so on.So if you want to give it a try, create an account and then follow this invitation link that leads to our new Transporter channel:

https://discord.gg/mYtxxw8

Again, thanks Don Quijote for helping coordinating the Airlifters!

**********

Remember guys, fly very low and slow. It is our best defense.

On the last random expert, we were torn off by IL2 because we were not flying low enough.

But we got alive because Tante Ju is crashing so well! so we were able to take off again and fulfill our job  ;)

Also , ask fighters to do some recon on the dropping area helps.

Your wheels MUST touch the trees! or this happens:

post-467-0-03646100-1485245006_thumb.jpg

See 216th_Peteria post to see how it is important to touch the trees.

I guess you referr to the removed aerodynamic covers on the dampers:

post-22578-0-23682900-1485261979_thumb.jpg

Haven't seen many pictures of machines without them. It does not seem to have been a common practise, most likely done temporarily when spare were out of supply.

Might have been the same reasons for removing the aerodynamic tire housings - instant access for the service crew and no chance for dirt, snow and ice to gather at hidden places, blocking the mechanics finally.

Just an album with some versions as I described http://imgur.com/a/YW6Y1

I think I exaggerated a bit about the numbers without but still, many pictures with thinner landing gear.

Off the top of my head many of the pictures I have seen have the two forward covers remaining, but more often the rear one is removed

Our version of Ju-52 is an early one so perhaps in this instance it was more common, and the two rearward extending covers were not present on later models?

Cheers Dakpilot

I think 6./ZG26 will soon be back with their server, one of my favourite adresses in the past.Sometimes it is the less populated servers that provide the more interesting missions.

We really want to do this but lack a dedicated mission builder atm :(

Interesting. Woud be a nice idea for a skin (although I doubt the internal damper struts are modeled properly).

Yeah, we have the Ideas, but Emil has moved to a Location with Insufficient Connection to run a Server, and none of us has the Funds, Know-How and Missions to run one ourselves.

We would definetly like to run some Cool Co-Ops, including Nightflying Ju 52 Airbridges and Big Bomber Missions again. Don't Expect anything and you will be pleasantly surprised when we actually manage to put something together again.

That Fear alone qualifies you more than most other wannabe Hartmanns and Pokryshkins out there. You will have "how tu...  star-engne???" Chat Messages in MP often enough for me to tell you, if you can Start your Engine you will not be more than a hindrance than any of them.

However I will also tell you that joinging a TS, be it Public or Squad, will Multiply the amount of Fun you will be having depending on what you like. There are very "historically accurate" Squads which will talk a lot about Lisa, Rolf and Viktor which seem to be VIPs I've never heard about.

And then there are Squads like ours, International with some Real World flyers who first and foremost want to fly together, have a Laugh, Discussions on the way to target, get S*** done and go home.

There is a Spectrum with Squads more on the End of Top Gear (Edit: UK verision with Clarkson, Hammond and May, not that New and Colonial Crap), or  to more Motorweeky, you decide what you like best.

So join people you like if you enjoy that sort of thing and you will also learn a great deal of things much quicker than you will tryin and failing alone.

When you fly "full real" and you are able to take off, maintain a course and land, you should not hesitate to try out multiplayer. It is really a completely different and much more immersive way to enjoy this game. Also, the most people I met online are very kind and helpfull, especially when you are a newbie!Just try,you will not regret it! :)

Depends on Server. Wings of Liberty is the Lowest of the Low in Terms of Politeness and so are the Other "Dogfight Servers".

The Server I spend most of my time on is DED's "Random Expert". While it may not be Perfect, the people there tend to be a lot Nicer, especially the Russian Side.

And once again, don't worry about your Skill. There are entirely useless Squadrons out there, mostly made out of Noobs, normally marked with "JG" which stands for "JuselessnoobGeschwader" with the Number being the Average IQ of their Pilots.

If you want to Transition to more Proper Flying you should seek Tags like ZG "ZeBestTheWorldHasToOffer-Geschwader", TG "ToobadatanythingelsesotheyflyJu-52 Geschwader" and others.

This. Flying together with like minded people is boositng the expirience by a great amount and you learn a lot of things during the process. The Ju 52 is no exception in that regard.

Love flying the Ju52. Does anyone know how to close the big side garage doors opposite of where the paratroopers dive. Can't find the binding.

The new 2.007 update give some change to our beloved bird:

post-467-0-22086900-1485974256_thumb.jpg

We still have some bugs like the missing sound in gunner position which needs to be fixed, but I am sure it will be done. (I reported it)

I am so happy! this sim is getting better and better, as always!

I am enjoying so much flying Tante Ju, like the first day... :gamer:

I wish you the same guys! keep posting! I love to read you!

Thanks to our effort, a new airfield is usable in on line Friday Night Bomber Campaign!

A JU-52 deals in logistics, which is arguably one of the most important aspects of a war, and they also served as paratrooper planes, and that means that they take part in air combat. JU-52 can actually accomplish objectives in a combat mission such as ferrying needed supplies, and dropping paratroopers.-

Ju52%20D-%20AQUI%20d2.jpgju52-1280.jpg

I think it got to do with the angle you look at them. They are thinner at front and thick on the side

What I like about this plane is the fact that the yoke got correct placement and size in this game . while in old IL 2 you would not see the yoke looking forward flying it. I always hated that fact. Also I refuse to fly this plane until I got myself a YOKE. I hate the fact I sold one .

Which scripted Campaign is this?

I believe this is the one Gambit is making that I am painfully, painfully (impatiently :)) waiting for.

I expect that it will be exceptional work - he has logged some testing/AI issues in another thread somewhere else in the boards.

I hope I'm not reopening a topic that has already been discussed, but I have to ask...

Is it correct that the paratroopers land and sit there and then disappear along with the enemy vehicles they destroy?

I was watching them in a replay and this is what happened. I would have expected the howitzers I dropped them on to at least turn into wreckage but they just disappeared entirely

Hi Scojo! The paratrooper sit , relax and disappear. They are doing NOTHING visually.

However, they are a trigger in the mission editor, so they can trigger any event (it is up to the mission creator), like open a new airfield for example.

Ok, thanks, Nil. I just thought maybe it was something lacking in the Flight Log Playback. Good to know that isn't the case.

I guess the mission trigger just set all the howitzers to disappear instead of change to a destroyed state(if there is such a thing as a destroyed state).

It is...taking a metric #%&* ton of work, but it's enjoyable for the most part.

I've discovered and had to navigate several different mission-breaking bug with the Ju52, which has cost me a lot of time and hair pulling trying to track those down...but at the same time it allows these things to get fixed. So I'm happy with that trade off.

I am learning how to make missions and was wondering if there are any missions based on the airlift, with the map being won or lost based on the amount of Ju52s landing and leaving the Kessel. If there is not, should I make one, and would any server want it?(I will also add a large tank battle for ground attack planes and fighters to scrap over).

The JU-52 can select a cargo load. Maybe you can trigger something in the mission with that to determine how many JU-52s land successfully
