Sidewinder FFB2 and TrackIR conflict

Recommended Posts

Plus 1

Stutters terribly at 60fps with both Track IR and FFB enabled. With the new patch and DX11

I turn off FFB and stutters are gone.

Track IR 5 and MSFFB2.

Tried putting camera smoothing to 100% and it does improve the stutter but replaces it with input lag for track IR. Head turns a moment after track IR . Makes my head movements feel sloppy and delayed.

Game is unplayable :(

Yesterday night I was playing online, flying with FFB. Stutters in a multiple contacts scenery are too many :(.I´ll soon make other video.

I´ll try tonight with 100% smoothing (again ...) but should not be the definitive solution.

The stuttering in the new dx11 version is even worse!!! I have a pretty good pic and am seeing fps of 90-120 on a gsync monitor but it feels like 10 gaps because of the stutters!!!! I was really hoping dx11 would fix this! Any comments from devs?

Note I have no stutter problem in clod! Maybe now that they have clod source code they can use that to figure out the problem?

+1

TrackIR 4 and Sidewinder FFB2

Really choppy tracking, gives me nausea

Otherwise frame rates good..all maxed out.

Hello all, sadly I add me to have same studder problem: MSFF2 + OPENTRACK 2.3 (Last version) give me continuous studdering in-game. Only disabling FFB in-game can solve the problem.

Win 7 64 bit and i5 4670K GPU nVidia GTX 770  4gb version.

(Never had any problem before this patch to run smootly the game at all setting maxed out).  :(

Also going to report stutters with trackIR since connecting my MSFFB2 I recently purchased through ebay. smoothing does reduce it but I don't like this solution personally, and there still is a stutter here and there.   Not having the issue in RoF or other sims or other programs for that matter.

win10 pro 64-bit, i5-2500k, 8gb ddr3 1600, gtx 980ti.

Just mentioning the only other issue I seem to be having with the game right now - seems myself and other users of Acer x34 or the Asus equivalent are having their monitors refresh rate reset from 100hz to 60hz when running the game in fullscreen since 2.006 .  WIndowed mode +gsync seems to work fine.. but for some reason since the update fullscreen caps at a 60hz refresh rate.  There's a thread on it but just in case the devs see this and all. The FFB+TrackIR stutter is really annoying and worth a hotfix asap, with all due respect to the devs.

Any updates on this? this sim is collecting dust on my pc and I'm holding off future digital nature sim purchases till it gets fixed :( for me I had the same problem in rise of flight but smoothing was an effective fix in rof, smoothing set to max in bos makes head movement feel like you are drunk and still leaves stuttering. It's very smooth with ffb disabled but once you go ffb you cannot go back

Unfortunately I haven't noticed any comments from the Developer team regarding this issue yet, but I guess that doesn't necessarily mean they aren't aware of it.

I've mentioned it a couple of times (with links) in the Dev Diary since the DX11 update,  but it would be nice if someone from the Developer team could at least acknowledge the issue.

I'm going to continue to bring it up until it's fixed of course. Prehaps, we need more people to do the same (respectfully of course).

It seemed to work for the FW190. Squeaky wheel gets the oil 'n' all that!

Keep posting!  :salute:

I ve posted this to another TracIr-FFB thread guys but do test pls.

Pan camera speed is related to TrackIr jerkiness if it's at 100% in the sim.

Don't just set the smoothing in sim pancam options to 100% but set also speed for left/right - up/down even as low as 1%.

The zoom in/out speed doesn't seem to affect it so much but the other 2 have a very profound effect over trackir when they are set to high numbers.

Back when i had that same problem in RoF, uninstalling the 2008 version of visual C++ fixed it for me. I can't test that myself, because currently have no access to an FFB2, but just an idea. It might actually make sense to get rid of all C++ versions before the 2012 version.

Try at your own risk though.

Necro_v please do Test this, 1st and 3rd line set to 1% in the pancam side, that's on the right hand side of your screen. Also set as default camera the PAN one not the SNAP, that's on top left corner of the screen.

These settings do not affect how trackir moves, only the speed that camera moves while you press DEL-INSRT e.t.c.

Please report back your findings.

So I'd like to write something else, but unfortunately the 0 or the 1% there is no improvement.

And Smothing to 90%? For me, this was the fundamental parameter. This afternoon I´ll test Volker sugerences ;).

Devs, please take 1 min of your time to acknowledge the issue somewhere on the forum.   BTW, when i use the same stick in WarThunder (dx11), it's silky smooth.

I have personal experience of Rise of Flight and there I always use 90% the smoothing are the best results in both simulators.

FFB is also a bit choppy - sometimes it works sometimes it doesn´t and at other times it has wrong forces.

I´ve been flying on Berloga right now and at the end there was suddenly a loss of force on the pitch axis and the game went down with the fps in the cellar .. really strange.

I just hope it will get sorted out soon.

I have also MS FFB2 and TrackIr 5. My settings have following

and

post-13080-0-11599700-1485977675_thumb.jpg

My system is Core I5 6600K 4.6 GHz, Radeon 290X, 8 GB DDR4 2400 and Win 10 home 64.

I tested decrease  smoothness from 80 to 50 and after that I had little stuttering.

When smoothness is 80 game running very smoothly even over Stalingrad.

I have all the time 60 fps without stuttering.

Look right left up and down pretty good, but when combined zoom it looks about 15fps when I have a constant 60 fps in every situation. The original engine DX9 worked perfectly smoothly as today in the FFB off.

i slightly do wonder, why there is even a forum, if the devs dont care to take even 1min to confirm this or other bugs, or at least comment to it.

right now, i would like to jump back to il2, but this bug really keeps me away from your sim dear devs. its simply unplayable experience. searching the forums for it, i find this thread here, but with no sign of a developer. do you guys care? no investement from my side into BOK or future add ons until this gets fixed.

S!

Check this. Only a Jason´s reply but the thread shows a NOT IDEAL solution (Camera Smothing at 90-100):

i have this issue also

the best i have come up with is in game camera pan options all at 100%

except for FOV speed i have at usable speed of 65

i also have a very agressive(fast) TIR master speed set at 2.1

smoothness at 20

its not silky smooth but its as good as i can get it after a week of trying everything i could come up with.

Well it was just a suggestion to help , it takes me a loooong time to find a set up between the game and my Tir that suits me , and there' s absolutely no fun in searching for it ... its boring as hell to test the different options /settings speed smooth eeeek  , in particular when you were totally satisfied by the way it works before and that suddenly all is messed up ...

Lets hope they'l fix it and announce the fix so we can revert our settings and enjoy the game without limitations.

those problems  between tir / ffb and the stutter that results begins in dec 2016 almost 2 years ago ...so to tell the truth i do think it  will be solved/ nor take care of  ( ffb owners are a large minority) ... and that s why every work around is welcome, as i cannot fly without ffb ... just impossible !!!!

AND  even with those settings ...it s far from being as enjoyable as 0 smooth ...  very far ...just make the game playable ...

Bummer! I was about to order a trackir 5 from amazon (today!) and I saw this thread. I have a spare Saitek Cyborg Evo joystick I could use instead of my MS FFB2, but that would mean I'm not using my FFB2, and that sucks.

I've got BOX running well, good CPU and GPU on an SSD, and I thought the trackir would be the next step. At least affordable step. a 1070 and a 1440p screen won't be in my snack bracket for months. I can afford the trackir, just seems I can't use it.  Bummer indeed.

I'm using my MSFFB2 with FF unchecked in the game options and I'm also using TrackIr.  I don't have any problems with stuttering.  For me the benefits of using TrackIr outweigh the benefits to be gained by using force feedback.

I recognise you're mileage my vary. :salute:

I'll try without FFB and see how it feels. For me it's the increase in spring tension as you move about that is important, not the stall shaking or the gun firing effects.

Gross! Tried the FFB2 with FFB disabled in game and it was like having a wet noodle as a flightstick. Zero spring tension. No way I can fly like that.

No trackir then. Bummer. :negative:

Thats so weird.  Other people have reported this zero spring tension business.  Mine's like it's on Viagra.  Seriously.  Try running the game with FF disabled,  pull the sticks USB cable from the pc port and then plug it in again.

You might be right. My FFB loses all spring tension sometimes depending on the plane. In IL2-46 (mod), it would lose it on the F-104 every time. Lost it on the Yak-7 in BOX for a while too. It's an old stick, maybe it's just past it's prime.

I'll play around and see what happens.

No, still no tension in the stick. (It must have a lot on it's mind, maybe it's tired...)

*****************************

Tried different planes, different maps, turning FFB off in flight, prior to flight, at game opening, unplugging from wall, etc., and every time FFB is off in-game, spring tension goes to zero and it's like a wet noodle. Must be a hardware/software conflict in the bowels of the machine making it wonky. I have FFB stick noise filter always at zero in the game. I have no idea what that does.

I might still get the trackir for DCS and see how flyable it is in BOX.
