did you happen to get ready to add the 2 new planes in about 3 months? JU52, and Yak1b?

 

ui still auto size when I set it to 0 for my size screen is 2560x1440

Hi Pat, is there a way to manually adjust number of kills for AI pilots?  I noticed that at the start of a campaign, everyone in the squad, even squadron leaders with 50+ sorties, start with no kills.  I found the file containing the pilot stats but cannot figure out which variable logs the kills.

we get to the target area and only 1 Flak 36 is there, I destroyed it 3 times as it will re-spawn as stated from you earlier, in 2min, 30 sec.

there was no other targets in the area. I F5 around a-bit and found a arty gun under a bridge in the ice. near the area. nothing else was there.

The respawning AAA is by design.  I think I explained that in detail in an earlier post.

 

The things in the river is on the to fix lis to the extent that I am able.  To some extent it is going to happen.  The program doesn't know the terrain and placement is semi random, so things will occasionally get dropped in a river or lake.

 

Was the mission flown using Beta 3?  I would have expected targets in beta 3 (unless, of course, they were all in the river :) )

If ground targets are missing in any mission please tell me the type of targets as described in the debrief.  I checked out artillery battery as a target and it was there.  Each target type is a different set of code, so if there are no targets I need to know what the type should have been.  Options nclude:

 

artillery batteries

assaulting/defending troops

truck convoy

train

barges

+others.

Custom skins, when configured they don't show up in the game. should I place those custom skins and default skins into the PWCG input skins folder?

 

odd Arty positions placed as single guns around areas, should they be MG's, or Flack guns?

Also, two of the Ju-88s in my flight had damaged engines. I thought that this was due to AA fire, but as we were behind friendly lines the entire time, I don't see how that could have been possible. Judging from the speed my aircraft was doing (I had the autopilot on to test the AI), I think it's possible that they just wrecked their engines from overuse.

 

EDIT: Just had a scramble mission as I./SchG 1 at Tuzov, 1/8/1942, a Schwarm of 109 Es against two LaGGs. I got a kill, it was a very sweet quick mission. It reminded me of the old 1946 careers - awesome work :salute:

These Yak-1s over the Moscow Autumn map were using winter camouflage.

The flak gun issue is still here, I'm pretty sure it's a result of the MG spacing option not properly working when you use a number below, say, 1000.

Airfield attack missions are broken. There are no targets to attack, such as parked aircraft, and there's no opposition at all - no enemy fighters waiting over the airfield or taking off, and not even any AA or AAA defences.

Also, some early Ju-87 missions give them the 37mm cannons, which should only be appearing around February or March 1943, if at all.

Winter skins working automatically for the La-5, but not for the LaGG-3 (or any other aircraft I believe).

 

Also, the AI LaGG-3 FAB-50 loadout doesn't work.

EDIT: Some Yak-1s have winter skins, but not all. Based on photographs, I think this is actually accurate for winter.

EDIT 2: German artillery battery had no defences - no AA, AAA, or fighters. The only unit that spawned near it was another artillery piece.

Found another bug. While being chased by a MiG-3 over my airfield, no AA or AAA guns spawned, while I had the 'Use airfield MGs' option turned on (set to '1', to be specific - does the 1 just mean that an appropriate amount of guns will spawn at airbases, or that only 1 gun will spawn at each airbase?).

@Lymark: Squadron and date?

 

It's failing to generate an escort for your flight.  I know that this is not something that happens all the time, so my guess is that it has something to do with the map position.  To recreate it I need the squadron and the date to get to the right location.

 

As a workaround, if you are interested in doing so, you can try transferring to another squadron.

Pat, shouldn't German squadrons start recieving Bf-109 F-4s some time during October 1941-January 1942? Or am I just completely wrong (again)?

EDIT: Found another bug but only a minor one. The debrief screen said that I survived a mission, when in reality I died, and my pilot dossier says that I'm active and doesn't mention any deaths - but I can't go on anymore missions and there's a gravestone next to the campaign, so PWCG does know that I'm dead, the debriefing and pilot dossier just don't acknowledge it for some reason.

Some more things I've found:

 

- AI attack aircraft hang around the target zone for the rest of the mission. They don't return to base.

- Many aircraft have different loadouts to their wingmen - see picture below.

- Targets are too lightly defended. The largest amount of defences I saw was 1x 20mm flak gun and 1x 88mm flak gun. This low level of defences makes ground fire virtually harmless to the attacking aircraft. Some targets, like artillery, are completely undefended.

Bug reports and requests for improvements are good.  No offence taken.  In fact quite the opposite, I very much appreciate people taking the time to post.  

 

This has been busy week outside of BoS and I have made near zero progress (which happens when one does near zero work).  If I can do things today and tomorrow I will release an update on Sunday, otherwise the next update will have to wait for the week after.

You could edit the campaign file directly (it's a text file).  Just beware that if you mess up the edit the campaign file might become unreadable.

Not working in BoS yet.  On the to do list as an enhancement but I want to focus on fixing errors first.

II./StG 2, 01/08/1942, artillery attack.

 

The AI not RTBing was a completely AI flight of Sturmoviks. It didn't really matter in that mission, but I can see it causing issues for fighter missions.

Just a quick note about the front line.
