Just updated and when I tried to launch the game I got this:

The program can't start libcurl64.dll is missing from your computer.  Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem

Any ideas?

~S~

Perhaps the updater failed to rename the file for some reason. There should be the file libcurl64.dll.update in bin\game, rename it to libcurl64.dll (remove the .update part).

Is it possible to auto connect to MP server using autoplay.cfg or it works only for SP?

I think the new "sky" is by far the best thing about this patch.  No longer losing enemies in the deep blue!  looks awesome.

First sorry for my bad english ...

It seems that since the update the 2 scripted missions for each chapters of the campaign become locked and non re playable once finished ?... Is this a bug or not ?...

Thoses scripted missions were very nice made and really a nice showcase of what the editor can do !... and I have really hoped the campaign could be more like theses instead of this quicly boring mission generator we still have now instead !!...

At least please make thoses scripted missions avalaible from the "missions" menu ...

Despite all the developpers efforts the solo part of this game is really the week link of it and really cloud all the other amazing parts of the sim !...

Can only hope they will decide to really, really do something about it , even with official third party "additionnal DLC campaigns" as DCS is doing now for their sim ...

As for cross-eyed effect you're getting, have you adjusted inter-pupil distance on the headset? I suppose you did, then it's rather strange since no one here complained about such issue on our Vive.

Ive got the same issue.

The loading wallpaper is by far the worst offender for not displaying correctly. IPD is set, and the startup.cfg seems to have been updated with my IPD setting automatically "or_ipd = 0.06520"

When you move your head there is very noticeable lag between head movement and the image being updated on the display.

Frame rate for me would not be high enough to attempt flying with the headset in game. Ive changed settings to as low as possible and turned off all aliasing. See PC specs below. The 970 is overclocked, as is my CPU - but in all fairness I would be considered minimum spec for Vive (the CPU is below, but overclocking is working very well for me in all other content so far).

It does not seem like re-projection works either (not that I'd like to rely on it). Not sure if interleaved reprojection is a Direct mode only capability.

The menu screens being fixed to the display and not moving away from view when you turn your head are also very discomforting.

The plane now seems to be more of the correct size following the patch though - so good work on that.

Im running or_fov_gui = 0.4 so that I can see the menu buttons to start a quick mission on the ground.

What I don't understand is why the 2nd Vive patch has disabled head-tracking. The scale is better, but now I'm just looking at a centered view; no response to my movements at all.

just had amazing single player campaign mission with plenty of dogfights and overall great atmosphere (fight over ju88 i was protecting, fight when returning home, AI got really better since i played SP last time). Finally i had a feeling i was flying combat mission with unexpected events and encounters great job

Head tracking wasn't disabled. Mouse control may interfere with head tracking in a cockpit, so switch to joystick. Or try external cameras.

last update my frame rates have dropped down to the 30's...

Are you talking about 2.002 or the latest hotfix? SP or MP?

My frame rates are better than ever in SP and MP, very smooth on ground and air. Full settings.

It`s great! Missions don`t feel so generic anymore with those random elements. Great update!

Is Vsync on? Try turning it off as well as FPS limiter in game options.

I think I'm going to hold off getting the Vive until it is all sorted. Seem like a good start I hope they persist with it!!!

Thank you very much for this update. Especially for implementing the Vive support. I managed to make it work and I would like to give you some feedback to improve it. Also might be helpful for others.

I'm sure that you are already aware of some things but I still want to highlight them again. For instance the GUI is attached to the players head. That way I cannot focus on specific items and it makes it very hard to use. Please make it static to a specific position in the room (main menu) or attach it to the plane (ingame HUD). That way I could just look down and a little bit to the left to see my speed whenever I wish.

I somehow messed up the center position on the HE 111. Pressing F12 did not work and I tried some other weird stuff. Later I realized that F12 was not even bound in my game settings (I had the game installed already before the update). That way I could make all other planes work fine now but the HE 111 is still messed up and pressing F12 makes me look to the top but not to the front. How can I fix that?

Obivously there are some limits in the view range. I cannot lean forward as much as I want. I also did lean back very much and my view was suddenly rotated. It did not feel very bad but that would not happen in reality unless your broke your neck or you are an owl.

The mouse cursor is very hard to find. Maybe you could make it red or something to make it easier to find.

I'm running on a GTX 980 + i7 and I'm noticing lags (reprojection is disabled, maybe would help here, did not try). Maybe you could add information about FPS because I'm not even sure whether it is a FPS problem or some conflicts with the way the game view usually works.

I also noticed that the FPS limiter was set to 60. I'm not sure if that also does decrease performance for some people or it is not active in VR mode anyway. Information about the FPS would help here as well and also could make it easier to find the best performing game settings.

My settings are now:

LOW

120 FPS limit (default was 60)

VSYNC on

1024x768 resolution (not sure if that makes it better or worse)

Everything else is off or low

Finally you really should make it work in Direct Mode. I think that current setup is too complicated for some people. The first time I only saw red in my headset. I clicked in the taskbar to give focus to the game itself and it finally did show up.

Anyway great stuff is going on! There lags are annoying but I still managed to have some dogfights and it felt great and nausea was not too much an issue because of the real flight speed and turning speed. This could become something very serious for VR.

Looking forward for this. Just keep going. Dont stop now. :)

When I launch game from il-2.exe and try to log in I get message #10005: Please update your game: new version available.

But when I click launcher.exe nothing happens?  Any advice?

Delete updates folder and try launcher.exe again.

In my case, it is the HTC Vive not the rift.

You might want to check to ensure that you are using the SteamVR beta.  If I click the steamvr icon on the upper right corner, it launches the release version not the beta.

How exactly are you doing that? I have never seen the CV1 as a monitor in the nvidia control panel. I always assumed that was possible with DK1 and DK2 only.

I have not tested it completely, but I launch SteamVR beta and then close the Oculus Home app, this causes the SteamVR app to report an error and the rift goes into extended mode sometimes.  Its tricky and your mileage may vary.....

I think I will try re-installing my DK2 with OR runtime 5 that has extended mode to see if that works with the disable direct mode feature of SteamVR beta.

The mouse cursor is very hard to find. Maybe you could make it red or something to make it easier to find.

I find that as it is running extended mode, the Vive is like a second desktop. You need to move the mouse over to the right onto the "second monitor" to have it show up on the Vive.

Another issue, when you fly off the map and get auto flown back onto it, your view is locked to the plane rather than letting you look around the place.

Once I was placed back into the pit, tracking worked for about 2 seconds, then stopped. I could no longer control head tracking no matter what I tried. (Switch to external, then back. Reset camera).

Leaning forwards in the cockpit also feels like you are restricted way too early. It is like that with TrackIR as well, but the limitation feels even worse when you know exactly how far your face is away from the gunsight and how much more room you have until you would have bumped your face.

Great to see that the devs support HTC Vive and OpenVR! - OpenVR is definitely the way forward, we cannot accept that VR becomes a field of competing walled gardens. Pls, port your support to Rise of Flight too! I know it is early days, but just to see that VR support is starting is fantastic.

Have you turned Direct Mode off in Steam VR options?

Is that the only way to make it work?

I appreciate the effort but I refuse to disable direct mode. It can cause all sorts of trouble and that's not the way to implement proper SteamVR support.

Will wait for that to happen.

Disabling direct mode is the only way to run it for now, yes.

Honestly, I think you're being a bit silly. The devs need reports on various platforms and nothing bad happens outside of direct mode. Do you expect hardware failure? They probably can't get direct mode working reliably yet. I would find that completely understandable.

Is Vsync on? Try turning it off as well as FPS limiter in game options.

I think people might miss this, so I just wanted to repeat it.

Why is it practically impossible to black out now during maneuvers? Lagg (just because that's the last one I tested) for example will simply not allow me to black out...what am I doing wrong?

It's amazing being in the cockpit in VR but the head tracking is off(jumpy but could be my R9 290x) and the scale still feels a little off(feels slightly small)

Sigh...

Still the same `Choose a mission` routine which is boring:

Intercept.

Escort.

Ground Attack.

Ground Support.

Bombing.

Choose.

Hey, Devs can you not give the Pilot a random forced mission (depending on fighter or bomber chosen) until he reaches a high rank? Call it `Mission for Today.` or similar and just have a set mission there chosen at random by the Campaign.

Keep the default as an optional choice for players to use the old mechanic if they like this `choose` business or stick in Quick missions where it belongs.

But this choosing your mission is unimmersive. NOt sure I can explain it any better.

Back to die rolls again.

I have been out of simming for years but purchased this game when I saw the Vive support.  I loved IL-2 1946 but need to re-learn how to fly :).

Anyway besides the obvious GUI issues, the frame rate is definitely an issue.  I have a 1070 and an i7 4970 and with everything on low it is not as smooth as it needs to be.  I can only play 2-3 quick missions before getting a bit sick.  I have everything on low, VSYNC off and the frame rate limiter off.

However please keep at it.  Even with it choppy it is an amazing experience.  VR flying is the only way to fly.  The situational awareness is incredible!  I suspect you might get a large frame rate increase when the VR is working in direct mode.

Also for the F12 view reset thing, I found that it wasn't bound by default to F12.  I set it to a button on my joystick and it works fine.

I am going to explore some more settings options, possibly lowering the super sampling down from the default of 1.4.

Keep at it guys!  Once you get this fully baked in and it pops up on the Steam VR page you will get a lot of sales.  VR users are thirsty for full game experiences, and flight sims are potentially one of the best you can have in VR.

Yep, I can only agree with that: if you get  IL2 BOS with Vive support on Steam, I'm pretty much certain you will cover any cost you might have had for implementing VR. Currently whenever something new shows up for Vive on reddit it attracts a lot of attention, and I've regularly seen people ask for vr flight sims on the Vive sub-reddit. In fact I'd argue (I know, I might sound like a borken record) that you could do the same with RoF and attract a brand new wave of (1) media attention (2) fresh sales for RoF using VR

In reference to the head tracking lag, is there any sort of mouse smoothing applied to the camera when looking around? This is known to generate input lag and will cause uncomfortable VR experiences. I know about it because it's a major hurdle for 3rd party injected VR like Vorpx, and back when I tried running RoF with vorpx (got it to run in a previous verison - RoF was showing in the hdm without stereo 3D but it was a good start) and did wonder whether that lag was due to mouse input smoothing applied to the view movements. If there is that sort of smoothing applied in IL2, it would be good to be able to shut it down for VR. Just a thought. I haven't been able to test it yet, got unlucky enough to have my internet connexion break while I was downloading the patch - bloody Australian rotting communication infrastructure!
