Please don't pay attention on some technical problems while registration and aircraft assignment

You will be able to fly even if you didn't register or choose an mission type on the InWar web-site

It will happen, of course, only if the Dedicated Server of InWar will be Ok and we will have enough pilot slots)

Btw, we (Axis side) need 4-6 fighters for day mission on saturday. Yesterday we flew with no one-engine fighters at all.

Tomorow (day mission, Action Stage) it will be very hard or even impossible.

I try to get couple of Finns there first time, can they fly together in the same flight with Bf 109 G-2? And luckily our new Finnish pilot Adexu can speak good Russian (he is coming, too) so we don't have any language problems any more! ;)

Day mission report 04.02.2017

-------------------------------------------------

Due to the heavy condition on Rzhev direction, lack of resourses and suppressed land forces, after discussing the situation, german HQ was decided to implement adventurous and even risky plan - to put everything on the line and start a counterattack near Rzhev.

Remnants of supplies in that case was not allowing to deploy defences anywhere, even it was not enough to deliver more planes to a frontline.

Plan was at bounding as much Soviet fighters as possible in fight by all fighters that Luftwaffe able to provide on that direction. This was should provide our ground attack air forces a chance to clear enemy defence and give German tanks break through defence lines to strong point. Important factor was a forests at south from Rzhev, that was should create problems for Soviet sturmovik's in tracking down tanks.

To realise that plan German HQ had next resourses:

Group of 5 pilots Bf-110

Group of 4-5 pilots Bf-109

53KG bomber squadron of 5 pilots, one of them was assigned to do a recon task.

Situation has evolved next way:

In beginning of mission was started tanks deployment on Rzhev direction.

Finnish squadron was assigned to patrol the area in south from Rzhev on advantageous height, to bound Soviet fighters in fight, distract them from Bf-110 that was working nearby.

Bf-110 squadron was assigned to destroy 1st Rzhev defence line.

Mission was accomplished in two flights with minimal losses for Bf-110, no one fighter reached they position. But losses was. In a first flight group leader of Bf-110 =LwS=Zweit was down by a direct AAA strike, next two planes was damaged(but succesfully returned to base). Meanwhile Finnish squadron was bounding Soviet fighters on that direction.

That success was offset by messages about attack on our defence on same, Rzhev, direction, and increasing losses of our fighters.

When German HQ got information from fighters (JGr8_Abent), that above Rzhev now is Soviet superiority, Bf-110 that flew to attack strong point - was commanded to cancel previous target and head on a warehouses of A sector. Attack was lossless, but lossless from both sides - group that destroyed defence line with several tanks and AT guns earlier with regular 250KG bombs, was hit no one warehouse.

On this moment situation was grim, Soviets providing a full scale attack on A(Rzhev) direction, by reports from Finns earlier - was known that our defences at A was totaly destroyed. Only a faint hope left, that German tanks will destroy or do heavy damage to counter going Soviet tank group.

German HQ still making a guesses - what exactly happened in ground fight? One after another had come messages that German tanks under attack, and in after a small delay - that they destroyed. It is possible, that German tanks reached strong point and was destroyed by unsuppressed 85mm AAA, or rolled out straight on 2nd defence line that probably was deployed by Soviets. Why in that case was no messages about German tanks reached 1st defence line, that was cleared earlier - still a question.

But was entirely clear - German tank attack failed and attack of Soviets - succeed.

Luftwaffe fighters loses on this moment was disasterous, and was no ability to change something.

In according to time was left - three Bf-110 was sended to a last, for this day, attack on A sector warehouses.

Pilot Wize1980 was succeeded in that attack and destroyed one warehouse. Unfortunately, by the AAA firing was killed =LwS=Shnekorotor, wich was effective in previous flights.

Couple words about KG53 actions.

After become clear that main activity is around Rzhev again, group of 4 He-111 was assigned to strike sector C warehouses. Attack was unsuccessfull because of almost solid clouds layer.

Scout on a Ju-88 (I./KG53Riedel) has made two successfull recon runs. Unfortunately, because of HQ confusion, once he photographed wrong object, that fault of HQ, but not scout's.

Special thanks to our Finnish allies! You only one organised fighter squadron on our side.

I join Shekorotor in his thanks to our finnish friends. We could not do any ground strike without you, guys.

Also I remind to everybody who reads this topic - we still need 6-8 fighter pilots on this thursday and - especially - on saturday for Axis side.

This will be last stage of "Battle of Rzhev". Unfortunately already there is no chance to win this battle, but we can still "slam the door" at least!

Kanttori - there's a fine report about Finnish pilots training night-fighter-business on Me-109, check:

http://www.geocities.ws/finnmilpge/fmp_faf_nightfighters.html

see "Training in Germany in the Summer 1944"

Once there was a very detailed report about the whole training session online, best description of a german nightfighter airfield setup I ever found. All the old links on this are dead, but there has to be a copy somewhere on my hard-disk.

Hey Retnek!

Couple of Finns are coming on next Friday, we are sorry about that...  :salute:

The In War map and "Recon photos and other info for Axis side" looks very much similar than it was last time, so are we starting the same war again or is there coming a new Rzhev Mission?
And do you want that we are flying mostly the Bf 109 F/G fighters (everybody of us has now the Moscow planes)?

Hello

Finnis pilots are always welcome S! We value your dedication and desire to participate in our event .

The mission is exactly the same. There will be some changes to improve balance and organization.

About Bf109 F\G - ask the commander of the blue side. He will define priorities according to his plans.

Hi! Kanttori linked me this thread.

I already sent an e-mail about not able to login or register for In War for some reason.

Which ever takes faster to handle. Now two times I have been there as translator and today flew supply planes for our fighters as Finns got 1 short after the computer crash.

Do you want that we Finns fly mostly fighters or do you need us also with the other planes: bombers, transport planes and jabos? It is also possible, that we can arrange one smaller fighter group (4-6 pilots) and one bomber/jabo group (3-4 pilots). Main thing is that we can fly together and stay in our own radio channels. Just tell us what to do! :)

We have a transport mission in a next flight. 3 pilots required. Ju-52 is welcome but not necessary. We can send your pilots there. Anyway - you choosing prefered role when you registering in a next flight, and you free to choose any of it.

P.S.

Usually we have not enough pilots on transport.

I have Ju 52 but I must ask other Finns what they have. Is here also Heinkel 111 transport?

yes, you can take either ju52 or he111 as a type for "Transport N". N = 1..3

I would be interested in joining the war with my wingman.

A question related to that, do all the players need to be on server sharply at 22.00 Moscow time (20.00 CET) or could someone join 5-10 mins late?

Because of limited number of players for each Side on server, its better to be in time.

But(theoretically) if the Commander be aware that you will late, he can reserve a slot for you

So how to proceed?

Here is Help page

Any open slots for Luftwaffe or is the VVS in bigger need of pilots?

I dont know about Blue team, but Red team has no empty slots for tomorrow flight.

Hello

This time we decided to make a lot more intense action

3 groups of Pe 2 three airplanes each

One group of Il  2 with 5 airplanes

3 Fighter groups 3-4 airplanes each

Each bomber group had specific warehouses to destroy using dive bombing and several sorties.

Three bomber groups made total of 8 sorties and destroyed 13 warehouses.

Each fighter group was assign to cover specific bomber group throughout the mission.

Il 2 made 2 successful attacks on enemy fuel depots.

Not everything was perfect, but this was a success nevertheless.
