@SCG_Riksen 19// should be 5 instead of 10, realistically. That's pretty much the max we get online at once.

New TAW campaign starts 15.04.2018 on Sunday morning. Registration is open.

 

Changes and new features

 

  • Scenario based maps. On some maps Axis attacks so they have more limits (aircraft, tanks, pilots) and their tanks convoys spawn more frequent for the first several missions and on other maps Allied attacks so they have advantage. There also maps with draw situation. List of maps:

#1 Moscow_North – Axis offensive

#2 Moscow_South – draw

#3 Moscow_North – Allied counteroffensive

#4 Stalingrad_Center – Axis offensive

#5 Stalingrad_South – draw

#6 Kuban - Axis offensive

#7 Stalingrad_Center - Allied counteroffensive

#8 Kuban - Allied counteroffensive

 

  • The frequency of spawning tank convoys depends on three factors:
  1. Map scenario – more frequent for one side for first several missions
  2. Depot destruction – the more damage/destroyed the less frequent tanks spawn
  3. Captured area – the more captured cities the more frequent tanks spawn
  • Pilot gets CM if he ditches on a friendly airfield with any AK or GK.
  • Pilot gets new aircraft after 3 CM if his hangar is not full. Before pilot got new aircraft after sortie ended with CM. Now if pilot has 3/3CM and lost an aircraft he gets a new one.
  • New layouts of airfields. There are less buildings and more planes than before.
  • After capturing a city a train and supply convoy is send to this city in the next mission.
  • An enemy airfield is not repaired in current mission if it was attacked in previous mission. It doesn’t concern border airfields.
  • Airfields supply are also damaged after attacking and destroying airfield facilities. Airfields supply are also damaged by tanks convoys.
  • Buildings and hangars are generated on non-frontline airfields, but it shouldn’t be attacked because it will not be counted (to save cpu they are not in the log files). As before only frontline airfields should be attacked. There is text “Attack!” under it on the map in game.
  • After land of every 12 paratroopers there is a text message that inform how many paratroopers landed near enemy airfield from the beginning of the mission.
  • Gelenzik airfield fixed. Take off is towards sea not the mountain.
  • Bug with different mission ID on the www page fixed.
  • Convoys detect big rivers so they are not generated on it.
  • Bigger Moscow_South map (work in progress)
  • In mission list on the webpage there is description of the events after each mission. You may find there info about what was attack and destroyed, how airfields was damaged and supplied etc. It’s only in English version for now.
  • The manual has been updated. If something is unclear or is missing let me know.
  • Plane set as before (missing BOK planes added). Please check manual.

 

Attenction!

To fly transport mission choose bomber with text “transport” and take no bombs/rockets (it’s necessary after 3.001 update). It doesn’t concern Ju-52.

If payload are locked then you have to choose airfield and aircraft several times. It’s a bug after 3.001 update.

If you see black screen after connection to the server please wait for a while.

Well I tried. I guess in the end it does not matter, some squadrons will always fly for the same side regardless of what the balance is. Sign up just opened and there are 11 LW squadrons for 3 VVS ones lol. Thanks to those who switch sides and keep the campaign alive otherwise it would end up with LW vs Nothing again

In that case SQSQ is def going red. Thank you Riksen for all your hard work. We will have to see how this TAW plays out this time.  I have high hopes it will be more even than it has been in the past. just give it some time for people to register.

Excellent news Kathon! 

However, I hope that it is not too late to edit the plane list. Currently the A-20 is not available until Map #6! Looking at the rest of the planes there this is a solid 1943 planeset/scenario. However the A-20's first saw combat in Summer of 42. A-20 should be available no later than Map #4, and even as early as Map #3.

The Plane setup is not completely historical, otherwise you wouldn't see the P40 on map 1 either nor would the G6 get a Mk 108 and so on.

I understand that. It's also why we don't see a Ju-88 map #1. 
 

But you can't make the argument that the A-20 is game breaking, to be added to an earlier map. Whereas an F2 and 88 in Map #1 for the Reds - would be (with the current planeset the way it is).

Cutting the inevitable discussion about balance / historical accuracy short, i think most agree that we play a Sim where Balance shouldn't impact historical accuracy. 

 

Therefor i don't see a point why the planeset shouldn't be accurate as well.

I do wish that the A-20 was available from the summer of 1942.  It would be historical and add fun for both sides I think.

=BES= will likely go Red as always, but we will see what balance is like on Sunday before final decision.  Only 2 on at a time though.

Looks like this of squad list of TAW combatants is a moving target LOL - are some squads and dropped or is this an issue with version control related to the most current list? :huh:

The squadron list is not going to be updated anymore. It doesn't seem to matter guys, like I said, because some squadrons will always fly for the same side regardless and the campaign will start tomorrow so what is done is done. Hopefully the lonewolves and the unreported squadrons can balance the campaign so we can have a nice TAW again. I wish everyone good luck and thank the TAW team once again for putting this together for us!

Thanks for the attempt, Riksen.  I'm sure it had to help those squads who wait until now to decide which side to pick (like mine), even if it's only a few squads.

 

I was actually almost worried I'd have to fly blue!

If pilot disconnects during a flight then all his AK/GK and combat missions are not counted and:

· aircraft is lost if pilot or aircraft was damaged and disconnection took place more than 5min after last damage

· aircraft is lost and AK/GK streak is reset to 0 if pilot or aircraft was damaged and disconnection took place less than 5min after last damage. Sortie result is DISCO.

Can someone explain this for me in plain English please.

If you D/C 5 minutes after getting damage, it counts as if you died
If you D/C more than 5 minutes after damage, you keep your streak but any kills in the sortie don't count

It also seems if you disco without taking damage you lose any of your kills and any combat mission you may have earned.

You mean your CM count is reseted to zero? No I don't think so. It just won't count as a CM.

How does that work? If you wanted to change it, but the decided not to what is the reasoning? Is the argument really balance? Because the Peshka is better in almost every way.

 Cool! Very fair indeed! So if you have a crappy internet connection - you better land after every sortie as fast as possible!

If you do sustain battle damage - hope you don't get disco'ed until after 5 mins.

 

Although this obviously hurts those (few) that have bad internet connections, it's the only way satisfy people (many) that want to penalize those that disco when they are in an unfavorable position.

I lost a 30+ streak a couple campaigns ago because of that 

Plinked  by a tailgunner no real damage but discod 2 mins later
