I could be wrong, but I’m guessing we probably won’t see a new campaign until devs issue a hotfix for some of the issues with the stats. Plus, Kathon said there was a bunch of rework to do since the layout of ground objects changed. So in other words, probably will be a bit.

what is the TeamSpeak server address ?   New / old pilot from days of il2 with the switcher 4.08 to 4.09b  . so been a while , but now game is on sale and want to speak with some pilots before purchase .  Please Pm me an address for teamspeak or discord . please anyone

Is the thread opened again? How is TAW's campaign built progressing?

 

Everyone seems to be waiting for this, you guys clearly have the best campaign!  

 

And how are your decisions towards technochat and warmup? Also, will the ground war become more important than pilots / planes killed?

Just caught up a bit on this thread.

 

Kind of surprised by all the technochat debate, because I didn't know that there were any plans to make this a server side config option. I would absolutely love to see that though.

I currently fly with technochat, and hud instruments off by default anyway, no matter which server I fly on.

 

The thing that appealed to me about the TAW server was it's reputation for being among the most hardcore servers available in the game. If I had an option to fly on a server that could enforce no hints / tips / technochat, or hud instruments (compass) that would almost certainly be my personal preferred option.

At the end of the day though all of our opinions do not matter. The only opinions that matter are the server admins, we either like it enough that we chose to join the server, or we don't, in which case we find another server which better suits out tastes. 

I just want to give a shout out to kathon and the rest of the admins, for all the hard work they do, for all of our entertainment.

Server is running closed internal tests for a few days.

 

I haven't seen any option on the server side to turn off the technochat.

Question - any word on AI aircraft Resupply with the up coming season? If we have ai trucks, why not ai aircraft?

I think it is designed the way it is  to encourage us to try and look after our aircraft, as well as our virtual pilots. More readily available aircraft may translate into people playing more reckless, or never using anything but their personal favourites.

 

other servers have a similar system to what you describe though.

I would love to see AI and smoke on the battlefields ,and if possible AAA fixed or toned down `` it's a mare for lone ground attacks or even a pair many many times shot down to AAA attacking targets at high speed or even tree top level and terrain masking and still AAA finds you .

AAA in the Blitz wasn't this good ..:wacko: what you guys think .

I agree with you. But that encourage team work (I bet it's why the flak on TAW is quite strong). And also, when the sever is full or almost full > more big groups attacking ground targets > would be too easy if the flak is toned down. I think they made a good compromise compared to the regular/average population on the server.

 

Still I would like to see the flak reacting more slowly when you run the first pass (surprise effect). Especially when you do your best to fly on grass level at high speed to avoid it.

I think the flak should stay like it is. Otherwise its just a farmfest and those 40:5 ratios are haveing an even bigger impact. All the waffles are not even killing themselves then. That would be kinda boring. ;)

Agree with. Second player in bomber would be capable of so many jobs like navigator, tail scout etc.

That would be a great idea to unlock gunner stations. If you don't like it you can always lock your gunner positions anyway.

As far as i remember (correct me if i'm wrong), gunner stations are locked for several reasons.
First reason is not to block precious server slots and encourage people to be more efficient. You all know how hard it is to get on the server during rush hour. Four guys sitting together in one bomber are much less effective compared to four guys flying a bomber each! 
The other reason is to avoid that someone from the opposite team hops into your gunner seat to either spy out your current position or to take revenge for an earlier kill. The fact that you can lock your gunner stations and that you get a time penalty for a coalition change makes this reason rather unlikely.

The player number thing is a good reason why the gunners should stay like they are. Technically possible to have 40 players on one side and only 10 aircraft in the air.
With the server space precious as it is not a good idea to allow gunners.

Yes you are right, we also don't like the situation you mentioned, but I think we can control that as @19//Darbzy said, it is a try for TAW server, and I believe most of the players are have conscience, lol

Beside, not that rush in UTC+8, so we can enjoy our flight and enjoy the sim, :biggrin:

 

This is just a suggestion, I hope you can consider about it.

You honestly think that that much player just wanna ride on a gunner instead of flying? I think only a minority could will do on some special mission or circumstance, ie a squad member that come on the server late and the mission is about to finish, or recon mission etc. Beside it can be lock if you don't want someone on yours. Personally because of my time zone I never played with a full server anyway

EU Primetime the servers are all full to the brim. From 18:00-22:00 the TAW server is full nonstop. And yes I think there are many guys who would fly gunner only. Players who are not even playing now, and dont have a joystick and stuff. The 10 Aircraft example is of course a extreme one. Will never happen like this. But if just 2 bombers go full crew we have already 8 Slots used.
Its not about my gunner seats, but Overall accessibility of the server.

The initial idea of the gunner station is that one can be a navigator in the leader's plane, and the wingmen's can be locked, I believe this can save the room for others to join the server.

Also I don't know whether can we set the gunner station as locked when we respawn and unlock if we need it.

I think this can bring more fun to the server which is mean to be a very serious sim server.

The big risk is spying and friendly fire ``shooting your tail off on purpose attacking ground targets on airfield waiting for start up its happening today on other servers .

I already hate waiting in the queue for TAW (The connection implementation in BoX doesn't help this).

 

Even if it was just 1 gunner taking a spot instead of a place and I had to sit in a queue it would annoy me. Opening up gunner slots on such a popular server sounds like a bad idea.

 

You could say the gunner would be flying anyway so the space would be the same, but a guy in a plane is 10x more useful than a guy in a gunner seat.

 

Navigation isn't that hard, and if you are in a flight of 2 3 or 4 you have up to 8 eyes already guiding you, no need for someone to be in a gunner position navigating.

 

Don't get me wrong, gunner position being available is cool (Like it is on Coco server) and I would use it, I just dont think its right for TAW.
