PWCG 13.3.0 Are the new cannons coming soon?

Unfortunately, I can confirm exactly the same behavior with 11.4.2 with only recon missions being generated for our P40's in Stalingrad.

Still showing 1.14.1 after updating to 1.14.3. Nothing too serious. Everything else seems to work fine.

 

11.4.3 definitely says 11.4.3.  I just downloaded onto my alternative computer and did a fresh install to verify.  

 

11.4.1 will work well.  It just won't have the payload and pathing changes in the later versions

Flown several missions on 11.4.3 and it's resolved a lot of the issues I was experiencing. Now to wait for the Hurricane to be added so I can play a campaign in lend-lease planes from Moscow to '45!

Well I do have the Hurricane.  But for some reason I do not have a Russian service in my menu.  I assume that I must select the correct service.  I do have 7 services but no Russian.

Oh du!! Thanks Pat flew my first mission in the Hurricane.  Strange thing is I cannot get the Hurricane to to show up in normal campaign in either the Moscow or Stalingrad map:crazy:

in the standard campaign you need to progress an ongoing campaign one day. Two Hurricane squadrons are collocates with the P40.

At the moment I collocated the Hurricanes with another fighter unit and the C47 with a bomber unit.  In the future I will take a more careful look at the Hurricane's placement, but I already know that I don't have enough airfields to give it its own.

Great job on the C47’s, as we were running in on our ground attack mission tonight a flight of 4 dropped their sticks of paratroopers, it looked Epic!

Again Pat thanks for 11.5.0.  The one issue I have is loading ordnance on to the Hurricane.  In the load out screen it will list the ordnance but when I go to fly a mission the only thing that remains is the default ammo.  The only way I can carry any other ordnance is to go to my plane and load it that way, the rest of the Hurricanes have any only the default ammo.

 

I will install 11.5.1 and see if that what has changed.

One Query...

 

I have a campaign in progress...If I upgrade to the current 11.5.1 will it get trashed?

No.  I try very hard to maintain backwards compatibility.  I go as far as to have a "CampaignFixer" class that upgrades campaigns from older to newer if necessary.  

11.6.0 is coming today barring unforeseen issues.  This will also be backwards compatible.

 

I am motivated by self interest.  I don't want to lose my long running campaign either :)

 I usually save my PWCG campaigns to desk top, update the version and drop the saved campaign back in the updated version.

Never lost anything doing that.

I wouldn't want poor Bruno Stachel to have to start over again in his Blue Max Flying Circus campaign!

Actually appreciate it as it's a good reminder of the User directory.  A couple of versions ago, I put all user stuff into the User directory.  This way you can just save that directory and back up your campaigns, coop user files, and config changes.

 

I always found myself losing that cool font that I had for the chalkboard .  No more!  :)

I'm having troubles with the AI Hurricanes, I lift as flight leader and they just do circles on the runway and crash into each other and the windsock

Probably not PWCG related but that's where I'm having the trouble, I have changed to air starts until a fix is in

- Consolidated several buttons into sub menus.
- See tool tip (hover over button) to see where things have gone
Added Emergency Resupply feature
- Use if your campaign is depleted and not generating oppositon
- Campaign -> Intelligence -> Emergency Resupply
- Verify resupply by looking at Campaign -> Intelligence -> Intelligence Report
Added CPU Allowance Simple Config
- Accessible from the simple config screen
- Allows you to tone down high CPU mission elements
- Low: One enemy bomber flight.  No friendly bomber flights.  No virtual escorts.
- Medium: One enemy bomber flight.  One friendly bomber flights.  COnfigured max virtual escorts for enemy flights.
- High: CPU allowances not considered.
- CPU allowance config does not affect other configs such as air, ground, and AA.  Also does not impact advanced configs.  
- Setting air, ground, AA, and CPU allowance to low gets lightest possible mission.
- Allows for more limits on high CPU mission elements as they are identified.
- If you are low CPU allowance, recommend scrubbing strategic intercepts.

 

11.5.1
Fix designation of C47 "Type"
- Could cause AAR failure to accept claim
Fix failure to write new squadrons under some conditions
- Could cause AAR to fail

Campaign date?

 

I did some tests with Hurricanes on the Moscow map and they took off just fine.  Could be related to the runway.  Knowing the date allow me to try it under the same conditions.

One question, what do you mean by virtual escorts. I’ve seen the setting in the advanced section but didn’t mess with it cause I dont understand what it is/does.

Limits the number of AI flights that will have an escort.  Helps prevent too many planes in the air.  The advanced config was the first setting to limit the number of escorts.  The CPU Allowance simple config is a more global setting that further modifies escorts as well as the other items.

BTW: If I was not clear in the release notes, the emergency resupply is to right the situation where units are depleted and not producing flights.  Think of it as emergency transfers from other parts of the front.

I have had a few ground attack missions in a fighter wing where when I'm not the flight leader, as soon as my teammate AI sees incoming hostiles, they will jettison the bombs and go dogfight instead. Is it something that supposed to happen?

 

I attached one of the missions where we started and within minutes a flight of C-47s appeared, my whole squad  jettisoned their bomb and shot the C-47s down instead. After downing the C-47s, we went back to the ground target and my AIs only had guns to shoot the AAs/trains

I think that's normal WW2 behaviour tbh. Fighters are fighters to begin with, so attacking enemy planes would be the norm imo. More than once as a flight lead I've ordered my flight to engage incoming bombers/fighters. But that's me...

Yes, the AI is coded to do that.  IMHO that is proper behavior if the EA is a threat.  In the case of a C47 it's an overreaction.

Ok so it has been a few weeks, downloaded this latest version and trying to get my mission set up.

The mission only had two of us, so I added two more. Tried to figure out how to move my pilot down to 4th spot, now my pilot is completely gone and

there are four AI pilots listed for the mission.

 

What the heck am I doing wrong? I don't see how to move pilot order? Now mine dissappeared.

Don't click on your pilot's name, but on the small circle left of it. A dot will appear in it to make sure he is selected, now you can move him up or down by scrolling your mouse wheel.

It's a little confusing but once you get used to it it's far more usable than the other method where you had to go back to the left menu - click, go back to the chalkboard - click ...

I'm getting dogfighting bombers again since around 11.5.0. I will admit the Ju-52's doing hammerhead stalls before dropping nose-first into the ground was pretty hilarious to watch (and some easy kills if I could get a bullet in them before impact), but it does take away from the immersion.
