Pat Wilson Needs Help

Recommended Posts

Guys,

Although I have kept it low key, many of you know that Pat Wilson has been working on porting PWCG to BOS. He's done a lot of work already, but his ME has somehow broken. He's stuck and I'm no help because I don't see why it's not working. Maybe the community can help fix his issue. He has tried a re-install etc. Any of you programming types have an idea?

Here's what he wrote to me.

Reinstalled BOS to new location.  Editor still dies.  I opened an MS C++ session.  The editor is binary so I can't see lines of code but this is the access violation error.

Unhandled exception at 0x0076dd95 in STEditor.exe: 0xC0000005: Access violation reading location 0x00000000.

And this is the stack trace:
>    enviro.dll!0076dd95()
     [Frames below may be incorrect and/or missing, no symbols loaded for enviro.dll]
     dxBackend.dll!071d78dd()
     enviro.dll!0076e134()
     STEditor.exe!0043cbc7()
     STEditor.exe!004f2dd3()
     KernelBase.dll!76835a00()
     KernelBase.dll!76835a00()
     STEditor.exe!004f34eb()
     STEditor.exe!004f3bad()
     STEditor.exe!005c504a()
     STEditor.exe!004f3d47()
     mfc90.dll!675ca7c4()
     msvcr90.dll!703c3433()
     msvcr90.dll!703c34c7()
     kernel32.dll!7774336a()
     ntdll.dll!77eb9882()
     ntdll.dll!77eb9855()

Looks like an incompatibility between my system and the editor.  Used to work but its possible that an automated upgrade killed it.

Feel free to post if you think you can help Pat solve this issue.

I'm sure Pat has tried that. Something else it up and it's beyond my ability to troubleshoot. Lots of smart BOS users out there who might see something useful.
