I-16 Type 24 skins

Recommended Posts

Thank you Baron I will consider that information. Here was my interpretation. You can clearly see the wing tips are glossy from the ailerons out to the tips. It makes no sense for it to be green to me. The tail has the same shade and is also glossy but masked off as you see. The nose cowling is also glossy but just a bit darker that the green area which led me to believe it was black. I'm going to keep searching around and find more and more info.    :salute:

Upon further analysis of Baron recommendations; There was no red oh his plane.

Big BIG thanks to @ICDP for the 4k Template and .n File

Just unzip, drop the I16Type24_Sting In The Tail.dds file into the skins folder on the same path as described below (........>graphics>skins)

and drop the 'textures' folder into the root game directory >data>>graphics>Planes>I16t24 and replace the textures folder that is already there.

In case of emergency then just rename the original file that is contained in this folder by removing the 1 that renders it as a backup after deleting the 4k one that comes with the plane.

Have fun and shoot straight mates from Raptorattacker!

post-7910-0-62357000-1506388937_thumb.jpg

This is what I found of his life as a pilot

He was born in Madrid on April 29, 1915.

From a humble family, he combines his work with the night school, enters to work in the newspaper ABC like typographer worker, participates actively in the revolution of October of 1934, reason why was imprisoned, being amnestiado after the elections of February of 1936.

When the civil war broke out, it was incorporated into the militias that armed the failed military uprising in Madrid, participating later in the fighting in the Sierra de Madrid.

In November it is aimed to participate in a course of pilots, still convalescing of the wounds suffered in the combats of Madrid. After the tests he is part of the first contingent of students trained in Kirovabad, returning to Spain in June, where he carries out trainings in El Carmolí.

In August passes destined to the 1st Squadron that is being reorganized in Liria. In November he joins the 4th squadron sent by Manuel Zarauza, a squadron that he sent to command in July of 1938.

It reached the rank of captain and fought until February of 1939, date in which is forced to happen to France along with the rest of the Republican Army of Catalonia.

Interned by the French in the concentration camps of Argelés and Gurs, emigrated to the USSR in August of 1939, there he works as a mechanic in the factory of tractors of Kharkov.

World War II surprised him in Moscow where he studied, joining the Soviet Army along with another group of Spaniards. Participates in the defense of Moscow as pilot of the 1st Air Brigade.

In June of 1942 passes to a regiment emplaced in the city of Vologda, in which it would fight like squadron head until the end of the War.

In 1948 he graduated from the Army and moved to Minsk, returning to Spain in 1990

It is estimated that between the Spanish Civil War and the Great Patriotic War in the USSR, the Spanish pilot Arias participated in a total of 154 air combats. He was never knocked down.

I had to redo White 6 due to my limited knowledge of GIMP at the time of doing the first one resulting in missing layers.  I also went back over many effects to adjust to what I hope is a better skin.  Original post:  https://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/17316-i-16-type-24-skins/?p=447410

Don't get me wrong, I know what a Wildcat looks like. When I said 'post some examples' what I meant was of the actual paint scheme(s) that you were after is all. The one you put up is quite 'generic' so the Rata would just end up looking like a US Navy blue Rata with US roundels if you know what I mean (unless that's what you actually want)? There's actually quite a difference between even such things as the size between the two planes...

Polikarpov I-16 Type24 'Yellow 45' 156th IAP Winter 1941 - 1942

This scheme is actually based on a Type 29 unit,.It is a representation of a winter scheme that appeared in MANY different incarnations.

The schemes consisted of a water - based white applied over the normal (and often factory painted) schemes

and so weathering was always more apparent on these camouflages due to the extreme conditions they operated in...

Ha! Ha! I love it.

That gives me an idea actually. I feel a 'Barn Find' Rata comin on... leave it with me and, if all goes to plan, you won't have to bother about scratching the paint!!

I-16 Type 24 9/D-EPRN is a surviving warplane, restored to flying condition in Russia, that belongs to private owner in Germany.  I was inspired to make this skin after watching THIS video of a 2017 test flight following major repairs.  The camerawork is top-notch and the engine sound is fantastic.

I left off the civil registration and I wasn't able to locate the propeller to add the red tips.  Otherwise a pretty fair representation I think.
