Hello guys its my first post here i have a question related to multiplayer and game version. And im sorry if i ask this in the wrong section

 

So my question is if i buy just The IL2 Battle Of Kuban. will i get all the map for multiplayer? like lets say on Wings of liberty the map that is being play is Stalingrad. Can i still join if i dont have Battle of Stalingrad?

The maps come with any version of the game, in so far as I know. What you are actually buying is the plane set that you will have available. So, yes, if you buy Kuban you will be able to play on a multiplayer server running the Stalingrad or Moscow map. How much you can actually play is up in the air, that depends on which planes the server makes available at the time you are on the server.

Server just crashed in game, first GPS stopped updating then it crashed now it's at the -1/82.

Can somebody help me? or admim?

My ping stays around 260, but for some reasson, every 5 - 10 minutes, i get logged off the server and i cant join for 15 minutes, because i get banned

Do i need to download something? or the problem is something else?

After several shoulder shooting he decided that if he wasn't able to hit an enemy, he has to shoot an ally.

 

Of course, the comissar killed him after that.

I have some big issues since 2 days. I cant fly longer then 10 minutes on wings. It doesn`t look like that this is a ping issue. When i log in to the server it says ì got 60 or 100 ping. But i get kicked out without warning to the main screen. Sometimes it shows a failure number (#10009). Has somebody the same problem? I never had that before and i never had the issue on an other server.

yep, having the same problem, but i do get banned for 15 minutes after i get kicked of the server

Same things are happening to me. I connect to WoL and in a few seconds, it says "Lost connection with master server, #10009". Don´t know whats wrong - my ping is 63 and it was working without problems few days ago...

I have played quite a few times on this server and I want to give some feedback.

 

1. Plane limitations make no sense at times.

 

Some bases get 10 of one plane model, some get none and some get them with only ground attack option. Its awfull because people tend to populate the base that has the plane that they want, not that they need to carry out the mission. If you want them to serve some purpose fighters and bombers should be taking off from different bases, that actually makes sense. I would understand if those missions were made historically accurate, but they are clearly not at all. Also plane restrictions are quite random. I understand if you want to model a period of time, but usually it makes no sense why one plane is available and the other is not with such and such modifications. It all feels random. If you want a mission without a Spitfire/Fw190 fine. But make some in which that those planes are available in bigger numbers so that people can actually enjoy what they payed for.

 

2. Missions are either too similar and simplistic or too convoluted.

Firstly the missions that are about "traitors" are wierd and make very little sense. Secondly typical mission always has the same setup. Targets along the frontline. Not only it makes impossible to carry out CAP because the bombers can always get through, but it also streches the battlefield making big dogfights impossible and very hard to find the enemy, especially with the built in fog of war that IL2 BOS has with 10km radious.

 

Make some missions for bomber escort or set up them differently. Sure there is space for support the frontline mission, but why not  attack the enemy supply depots behind the lines. Make one side defender and the other the attacker. Set up heavy flak possitions along the way to the target, so that defenders can see approaching enemy planes. Differentiate how those targets are defended.

 

Mission ideas:

a) Bomb the depot chain / big factory deep inside enemy territory (One team tries to attack a big concentrated enemy defense network with bombers like He-111 and Pe-2 beeing the backbone as they can only do it efficiently and fighter escort and interception are key)

b) Stop the enemy advance (One team has to stop attacking ground forces from reaching their destination and breaking through lines of defense while the others focus on damaging defenses and protect their advancing troops. This focuses on attackers and fighter/bombers more)

c) Meeting engagement (both sides are trying to get a hold of an area and push ground foces out of it attacker and fighter bomber focus)

d) Air superiority (destroy enemy airfields the side that can destroy most or all wins).

 

3. Ask someone to help you with Russian-English translation, I am sure someone will help. It's funny to read it sometimes, but everyone would benefit from more precise translation :P.

And about the upgrades. F4s most of the time cannot use the "Removed Headrest" option, wich makes no sense.

Would be nice to have a team forgive policy similar to Red Orchestra whereby a mistaken shooting with an apology can then be forgiven by the victim and not lead to the banning of mistaken pilot.  Just a thought as the current TK = ban is quite harsh especially for new players who are learning the ropes.

 

Some of the more experienced pilots who suffer from such accidents could also be a little more forgiving especially if it is not a series of such events so not a deliberate act on the part of the pilot who might get the odd accidental TK.  Calling for server bans from 1 incident is immature and enough to turn prospective pilots off mp in BoS.

most of the time, rookies shot us down not by accident.
When i bought BoS, before i started in multiplayer, i practiced in SP. Dozens of Hours. I learned how to spot. Learn how to fly in BoX and etc. Ű
So, if someone buy this game - a sim - and jump in MP without a single minute of experience they deserve to be banned when they killing/shootin down their teamates.

I like the idea of asymmetric missions. Figuring out the balance would take a little tinkering but I think that can be done. It would be interesting to see how it all plays out. My only real concern for the success of this idea is the numbers imbalance on this server, especially during US peek times.

 

For the translations I could prove of some use. I am a native English speaker and worked for years as a linguist, focusing mostly on Russian to English translation. I can't commit to anything concrete in terms of time, but would be willing to lend a hand; I already end up translating the mission text for friends when we fly together anyway. If I had to guess, I'd say the server ops are running the Russian text through something like Google translate, or another electronic translator. The English text just has that feel to it. I know for sure I can do better than a machine.

 

Bubi, you speak like someone who has never shot up a freindly in the heat of the fight. Well, bully for you! But most of us have done that. Hell I've done that with more than 600 hours in the game. Mistakes happen, grow up and let it go. If it is a consistent behavior, that is a different story.

It's not hard to see the reasoning behind this. On some maps it's bf109f4 with mig 3 which is a truly woeful situation. We already have yak1 with rockets to slow it down to klimov m-105 performance for the appropriate time.

Anything to try and help that woeful situation without taking away or adding planes that weren't historically available at that time is understandable.

The point is the Devs did all the balancing needed when copying historical plane and gun values.

Mission maker for Multiplayer, should not be able to balance these game  settings artificially to their idea of historical or patriotic accuracy needed to maintain sense of ones national superiority.

Options imho that should be removed from MP map maker or atleast not usable in MP but only SP missions.

- Ability to set AAA funner skills (only devs should determine this based on most accurate stats available)
- Ability to set AI Gunner skills (only devs should determine this based most accurate stats available)
- Ability to set destruction threshold of objects. (only devs should determine this based most accurate stats available)

The stats no longer count the kill you get that is delayed when they must have a crash landing and damage prop. I get the kill notification in game but no mention on the server stats. I also got the notification for a guy who disconnected but the server doesn't say I got him, just hits. So In game I had three kills and on the server only one.

 

The same thing happened I think yesterday, the kills that you get later when they fail their landing doesn't seem to register on the stats anymore.

 

 

Oh well I thought I'd just mention it so you guys know in case more people bring it up. At least the escaped feature is working :)

I don't believe rookies shoot friendlies down on purpose. I am glad that you practiced for dozens of hours before going online. That is not the case for most. This game has a steep learning curve which puts most players off. Banning people for mistakes will not help grow the hobby or genre.

Agreed, I have both team killed and been team killed. It sucks when it happens, but in all cases I have encountered it has been an accident. I play exclusively in VR, so it can be even harder to ID planes, but I have learned to simply hold my fire until I am sure, but even then I can make a mistake. I usually don't ID planes by their shape (unless I am really close) since it can be hard in VR. I tend to ID planes based on situational context and bullet tracers. There have been instances where I think that I am following the guy who shot the Red (or Yellow) bullets but I end up following my team mate and shooting them instead. It has only happened once or twice but it does happen. I was also not banned in these cases.

Why are removed headrest and armored glass modules forbidden for BF 109 F-4 on some maps while they are availible for F-2?

 

They are identical parts so this setting doesn´t make a sense...

They are identical parts so this setting doesn´t make a sense...

So.... when I was coming in for a landing I crashed... in that I blew up into a giant fire ball and my plane disappeared. On the stats page, it says I simply crashed though and that I am still alive. this seems like a bug.

lol you dont want big dogfights..

worst part of WoL is at the end of some missions with single objective left and 80 people on server,
35 v 35 Furball over objective and 5 bombers trying to get through (these points many people i know start logging off)

Hi GAGARIN, the following squadron mates have somehow fallen out of our squadron listing,

 

71st_AH_XE90

 

71st_AH_GunnyMac

 

could check to see why? 

 

there flying they have been in the stats for squadron before now they're not showing up.

Since last week I keep getting an error when trying to connect to WoL. #10009 Game server connection lost.

Especially when the server is pretty full I keep getting kicked. I see the map but no airfields and after a few seconds I get booted. When the server is less populated, I sometimes get in. Every other server is no problem.

 

Is this error known and is there a solution? Thank you!

Just to add to this, Server messages are not saying that Shyfty221 is being kicked for high ping.

I ran into that same issue a few days ago. It cleared up when the map cycled. I'm not sure if that info will help but that is all I can add to that one.

Hi, I'm new to the game, and to this server. I have a few general questions; maybe better to put them in a single posting...

1. If my plane gets shot up, I have to bail out. When is it ok to click "leave flight", so as not to be performing a "disconnect"?  When the parachute opens? When the plane hits the ground? When the parachutist lands? It can take a long time for the parachute to land from high up...

2. Which weapons (MG/Canon/Rockets) be used against ground targets? I hit a factory building with 2 rockets, but, it didn't look like it had any effect.

3. I'd like to learn from better pilots; maybe use Tacview in my own flights, or choose to spectate rather than fly. I understand that these options are disabled on this server because they can be used to cheat. Would it be an idea to host an occasional "Exhibition", where these tools are allowed? I imagine the presence of many spectators would discourage cheating. And good pilots would have a chance to show their skill :)

By the way, BoS is a great sim, and this server provides a lot of fun. I don't want to go back to offline campaigns!

These are the answers as far as I know:

 

1. You can hit the leave flight button at any time that it is light up green without penalty. Sometimes there is odd behavior with this button, typically when the your pilot has been shot and killed without the plane also being destroyed. In that event you may have to wait until your plane is destroyed, either by further enemy fire or by crashing. This is rare though, I've only seen it first had twice.

 

2. The best weapons for destroying ground targets depends on the target. For buildings I find bombs to be the most effective. Trucks and light armor, APCs and such, can be readily killed with light rockets and 50 cal guns or 20 mm cannons. Tanks are best killed with heavy rockets, the Soviet 132 rockets work really well for that, or by 23 and 37 mm cannons. Which cannon to use depends on the tanks, the Pz 2s and T70s can be busted with 23 mm AP rounds while the T 34s, PZ 3/4 and KV 1/2 are best attacked with 37 mm guns from the side or rear, though this dose have risks associated with it. PTABS should also kill tanks effectively but I don't have much experience with that weapon. Ships are best killed by bombs and heavy rockets in my experience. I think it is one 250 Kg bomb or two Soviet 132 rockets to take out the bigger ships, one 132 rocket will take out the smaller ships.

 

3. I'm not sure if that kind of exhibition will ever happen on this server. As I understand it, changing a server set up for this game is somewhat time consuming and technical. In my experience the best way to get better is to fly with better pilots, both against them and along side of them. Working with others using a voice communication program like Team Speak or Discord also really helps. If you want PM me and we can link up some time, I'm always looking for more people to fly with and I don't mind teaching people what I know.
