you will have to explain me how you control the remote console thru a web page

The rcon protocol is described in a readme file. With that information, it was "simply" a matter of writing a web application that speaks with dserver using that protocol. I've put the source code online, you can have a look if you like.

Did you notice instability with the remote console, because sometimes, it crashed the dserver when you send a command.

No, not so far, but I don't think it has been heavily tested yet. But then, server inputs are triggered by manual operations, so they won't be putting as much stress on the server as some other tools that poll the server at regular intervals might.

So you don't use the remote console anymore ?

The code in your web page is just using the same language as the remote console ? Is that correct ?

I saw the protocol description in the read me file the first time I used the remote console but as I'm not a programmer I am not able to do what you did !

That's correct, I don't use the remote console. I use a program I made that speaks the same language.

I'm good with php but I don't know this one. I will have to learn it

http://www.tryfsharp.org/Learnis a good place to start, if you decide to go that way.

I'll probably release a version of my program that isn't tied to my missions later, as I advance on that project. That should make it usable for everyone with just a few config lines.

Can't wait to see the new mission with the AI orders via web browser. I like that you can give orders to AI planes as well as ground forces. This is definitely the progress that the sim needs.

It's on again, you can try it. There is a password, which is simply "coco".

The web interface is available at http://bosdserver.chickenkiller.com:9000/orders

Ignore the pin code and login, it's not working yet. I've done quite some work on improving the UI (not the looks, the functionality), if anybody tries it let me know if it was confusing or not.

It's easier to direct ground units using the spectate mode. Use shift+f5 to cycle through units. There are quite a few AA and AT cannons, so don't cycle through them all. Instead, check the horizon to see if there's a lot of square icons. When you see them, switch to free view and you should find the various platoons. German units are located east of Novosokolniky, Russians west of Velikie Luki.

Use the flare orders to identify units. If they refuse to move, try clicking on the "Continue" button. Chances are you or someone else stopped them earlier, and they won't move again until they receive a continue order.

The German side is a bit boring. Airfield too far away (compared to Russians), and too few Russian AIs. I recommend that for now people who are first on the server play the Russian side. Unless you like shooting at (Russian) boats, there's a few of those.

I have added AIs on the Russian side = more stuff to shoot, but also more stuff shooting at you if you aren't paying attention :)

The German airfield was also moved closer to the action, and the ground attackers have been delayed a bit. Now instead of launching the attack just as the train reaches its destination, troops take 45 minutes to transfer from the train to the vehicles. Meanwhile, a bunch of stugs start softening the defenses. That also gives something to shoot at for the "il2 tank busting" lovers out there. All in all, it takes a little over 2 hours for the mission to complete if the Germans are unopposed, which is still a bit too fast, I'd prefer 3h.

Taking down the server. Something's not right: radar pictures stop updating, ground troops stop moving and become resistant to damage, parachutes hang in the air motionless. Planes keep flying, but when they crash they don't explode. Flights cannot be finished, and connecting to the server fails, rejecting clients to the server list. Anybody else having these symptoms?

I had a couple of sorties. All seemed to be working OK. Couple of small things. Got the "German Column Destroyed" message (red victory) but when the match ended it said it was draw. There was a LaGG flying around in winter camo, looked a bit odd.

Hi HarryM!

The stalemate message at the end is nothing I can do anything about, sadly. It's a limitation of the deathmatch setting, which is the only MP mission type we have for now. Just ignore it.

For the LaGGs, I've now changed their skin.

Did anyone mention having problems seeing planes on the server? I saw people with a ping of 1, which looks suspiciously low. Most of them were French (I think). I wonder if there's an incompatibility between my router's way of doing NAT, and the frenchies' routers. If you are one of the French people who played on the server this afternoon, please let me know if you had any issue.

Latest version of Stukas Over Stalingrad:  (now set to be played in autumn)

A new mission, Volga Bombing:  This one doesn't have AI fighters (actually, it got 1/3 of a fighter on the German side). Lighter on the CPU, mostly bombing targets on the ground, or shooting Ju52s. Plane numbers are limited, especially on the bomber side, so be sure to bring your plane back!

Hello Coconut,

What is the repairing sequence with the tanks in front of a damaged bridged ? I tried  the repairing sequence but i can't figure out how to manage the stop'n'go sequence for the tanks. Thank you in advance.

It's a bit tricky to answer in text, so I answered in a video:

It's in French. If there is interest for video descriptions of some of my more complex groups, I might make more. I've also had thoughts about doing streams on Twitch. That would allow people to ask questions directly.

I could do that on Sundays late afternoon, evenings or Mondays in the evening (GMT).

Mission Objectives and MP

Got the "German Column Destroyed" message (red victory) but when the match ended it said it was draw.

The dserver being run with custom settings XO's the points at the end of mission.  The objectives are still being triggered and are logged in the mission report as such..

The stats page that Vaal and Isay made will still parse these objectives from the mission report and logged wins based on objectives completed even though in game it is showing stalemate at end of round regardless of who did what.

this is why I was so excited to get my hands on the stats tracking. there's no way I am gonna run a dserver with a 30 minute timer (default for normal and expert server modes)

A fun little new feature I've added to Volga Bombing is described in the video below:

When a specific bridge in German territory is destroyed, an airfield with empty he111 is enabled. Take off from there and land on the road near the bridge, and the bridge will be repaired. The idea here is that you are airlifting engineers to repair the bridge. The part where you land an he111 on a road might not be very historically accurate, but it's a nice challenge.

I wish there was a way to lock loadouts on individual slots, instead of doing it server-wide. I also wish I could add the weight of the hardware needed for repairs to the he111, that would make it even more difficult to land. In the end, it's just details, not so important.

Its name is Kletskaya and it's running on our Public Server  "IRRE Public server".

I've done 3 historical missions, based on our Battle of Stalingrad specialist's proposal (=IRRE= Dartag):

Pavlov (automn map) : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pavlov%27s_House

Kotluban (automn map) : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Stalingrad  (search Keyword Kotluban)

and Kletskaya (automn map) : a romanian episode of the battle of Stalingrad (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Romanian_armies_in_the_battle_of_Stalingrad) search keayword kletskaya

These missions are part of our Stalingrad Campaign, it takes place from September 1942 to February 1943.

We flew them with the french community (C6 ; Gefuv ; IRRE ; ...) and we received some warm welcome.

We keep working on some new missions.

You can join us on www.lesirreductibles.com

Bye

Nice Golgoth, I'll have to check these out!

Meanwhile, I'll be running tests on "ground commander" this coming week. Server is currently running for a few hours. After some more dev time tomorrow, I'll leave it running around the clock. The commander interface was moved to http://bosgc.chickenkiller.com:9000. Log in with the pin code you receive in the chat in the game. You might have to wait up to a minute to get it. To find you unit, you can use the spectate view. There are two groups, and you can use F12 (default spectator cam) to switch between their starting positions. From there you can use F11 (free cam) to get a better view.

Still in development, everybody can control every platoon. Please be civilized and do not throw your enemy's platoon into a river, or steal his toys from your teammate.

It's best played in organized groups, so if your squad is interested in trying it out privately, let me know and I'll lock my server for you at some agreed time. The mission requires additional software to be run on the server, so it's not ready to be run on your server yet, but that will come.

I forgot the name of the server: "Coconuts TEST"

about the F# program you've written to rcon the dserver...

I'll probably release a version of my program that isn't tied to my missions later, as I advance on that project. That should make it usable for everyone with just a few config lines.

I would absolutely love this.  It'd be great to have a list of my commands that i could just click a button to execute, instead of having to remember the names of all of them.

IE my 30 minute mission end timer has the same name in all my missions. Tis a bit cumbersome to use the rcon sometimes.

Hey, while i am here, do you have a drop box with all your content in it that i could possibly use to find the latest versions of your missions?  I ask because i know this forum only allows you to modify your posts for a certain amount of time. I'd always like the latest version ya know. BIG gi-normous thank you for all your hard work, and especially for sharing it with us!

A new little multiplayer dogfight mission between Mc202 and P40 on the Stalingrad map, summer. There's a constant flow of two bf110 and two IL-2 to act as targets top keep the first player occupied, or to provide something to fight around.

Bf110 and IL-2 are also available to players. No winning condition logic, the mission is simply meant to be played with points on the standard settings.

Hi Coconut did you do any further work to the Rush VL mission? It's been a while since we've flown on there and would like to give it a go adding in the 110

No I haven't. I've done much on the winter maps since the summer/autumn maps came out. Can you add the 110 yourself, or you need help with that?

Yeh sure I can do that. If I remember correctly we were getting some performance issues and was just wondering if you'd made any changes since then :)

We'll have a fly tonight

Updated the first post with links to the latest mission.

I also have a couple other older missions that probably need repair work. Probably something I'll do over Xmas holiday. I'm especially thinking of Velikie-Luki Counter-Attack. That's possibly the mission I like the most among those I've made.

New multiplayer mission, Stalingrad Summer. A tank battle south of Novomaksimovsky.

Tank spawns located about 3km from the next spawn. Spawns are capturable. There are AI units on the ground, and in the air on the German side.

Airfields are 4 on each side: one advanced, two rear, and one special single-spawn that triggers an AI mission to attack the enemy's advanced airfield.

There's quite a lot to do to disrupt logistics to the battlefield, bridge bombing, train station bombing, train attacks, ship attacks, supply convoy strafing.

Plane set includes both BOM and BOS planes.
