Just played it.

Thank You. Was nice not to have the same 4 static aircraft parked, like you always see them in the campaign.

A 109 crashed me as I was trying to get back home.

Nice mission, SYN_Haashashin! Thanks!

Tried it also with autopilot on to see how AI does things. I was curious because AI does not work very well with ground attacks in stock campaign.

It did quite a good job, attacked target and destroyed it despite German cap buzzing around airfield. Hopefully we see that kind of AI behaviour in campaing missions some day.

SYN_Haashashin, is it normal, that I can not destroy all those static planes parked at Gumrak? It seems like they are immun to guns and bombs...

@Comes, if I understood the manual correctly, static objects don't take damage. They must be linked to an entity and be active.

Here is a mission with 3 BF 109 wich are on the parking, engine off. AI will be activate 10 second after the begining of the mission. They will go to the runway, take off, land and go to the parking.

http://www.mediafire.com/download/7de1in273ie8f27/IA_Parking.zip

Be carefull, the waypoint for taxing must not be too long, even if you have a straight line. Have a look on my mission. If i do not use intermediate waypoint, the AI do not use them and go to the runway without using waypoint.

Keep in mind that in the plane advanced properties, and it's the same for players planes that :

In the air mean starting in the air, do not forget to set the altitude.

On the runway mean that engine is on. It's not a geographical position.

On the parking mean engine is off. It's not a geographical position.

So you can put a plane on the runway with engine off.

Hi guys,

here is my first try in mission making. I've had no experience with the editor and it took me the better part of the Sunday to get to the current state.

No combat, just some sightseeing on the beautiful Novosokolniki map.

You start cold on an airport in the morning, no waypoints but some flights to practice formation flying.

Unfortunately i was not able to find out, how flares work and i also didn't get the train to start moving, perhaps an issue with the map.

A lot of trial and error until the different taxi waypoints worked like intended, i hope this helps other starters over the first hurdles.

Hey All,

Airfield attack. Sorry was already way into the works when SYN_Haashashin put his up. And certainly looking forward to his critic on this one.

Unzip into your Game Single Missions Folder. Makes its own folder. Seems to play well in Normal, Expert or Custom Modes. As this is my first mission within BoS, some feedback on playability would be very helpful. Be advised I have not gotten into the GUI for the Map. The Ingress and Egress from Target area and back to Base is easy enough. Shouldn't be a problem.

Download Gumrack_VVS Zip Here

*For the experienced Mission Builders your help would be extremely appreciated. The Mission itself is a compilation of what point I am at with learning the FME through the tutorials and of course the helpful posts that many of you have shared.

Some things within the mission are not finished though, other things I have not gotten to in my learning or can't figure it out and I would like some feedback if possible.

I have many more questions obviously. And these could possibly use their own Post. But here are some of what I am referring to:

1)The truck convoy at Rahinka (Sector 245.5) will not move. It is set to Run Off Road in Column. What the heck am I doing wrong here?

2) I would like to have the 3 plane Il2 AI Flight, Group Leader Plane #163, change formation to "Form Left" somewhere in the vicinity of Waypoint Trigger #175 before they hit the Command Attack #167 due East of Gumrack. Is this possible?

3) The Command Attack #167 Icon always stays on when flying in Normal Mode once its' Check Zone Trigger is activated. My guess is that it is something I have not come across in the tutorials yet. There must be a way to change the percentage of objects needed to be destroyed to turn this off. The time limit I set within the Command Attack Area works well enough. Yet once met. It doesn't turn the Icon off.

4) The large FX Fire effect @ Stalingrad. Is there a way to move the Smoke to cover the flames. Right now unless I turn it into the wind, the flames are not visually correct to the Player.

Cheers,

Tip

Well this is nice. I have been waiting for this. It would be nice if everyone would mention if the mission is PvP, SP or COOP as they chare it.

Personally I'm looking for Coop missions.

You should be able to run the mission with the msbin file. I am not completely sure, but I think the msbin file loads a little faster than the normal mission file.

I think at the moment it's not a good idea to use my mission for studying. There are a few thinks I am not fully satisfied with, that's why I only uploaded the msbin file.

Just start FMB, and type in the first few letters of the mission, it will display all the mission files, and you can select the msnbin file....

SYN_Haashashin

tried out your attack mission.

you have a player plane in a dogfight mission.  Unless they have drastically changed mission building  from ROF to BoS, you have to have an airfield with a nationality, and planes added to the field for dogfight missions.

Pilots joining the mission select the airfield on the map, select the plane, and hit fly.

Mission editor in BoS is not that different from ME in ROF.

Right now I'm stuck at adding airfields, because in BoS, it seems like they have to be in specific places, while in WWI you could place them anywhere they fit....

But for those who want help with FMB in BoS, suggest you watch Syn_Vander's youtubes.  Keep in mind, these are for ROF, but much of the items are the same.

I have uploaded a teaser mission from my upcoming Platzschutzstaffel Pitomnik mission pack:

http://www.mediafire.com/download/3lcvgwpgx24a77n/Teaser_Platzschutzstaffel.zip

Place the mission files into your data/Missions folder. The name in the mission menue is "Georg Schentke's final mission".

The official WIP thread of my Platzschutzstaffel Pitomnik project with numerous screenshots can be found at Axis&Allies Paintworks:

http://www.axis-and-allies-paintworks.com/e107_plugins/forum/forum_viewtopic.php?11721

Initially I had done these historical missions for Il-2 1946 and now I am redoing them for BoS. I am still learning to use the FMB, but the first mission should already be playable, although I might later add some of the more advanced features from the BoS FMB.

The Platzschutzstaffel (airfield defence squadron) was a detachment of volunteers from I./JG3 and II./JG3 based at Pitomnik airfield inside the Stalingrad pocket. The mission I have uploaded shows the last combat of JG3 ace Georg Schentke on 25 December 1942. After attacking a group of Sturmoviks south of Kotluban, Schentke was reported missing.

Thanks for the nice mission, looking forward to your further work.

Here's some info regarding the pilot's fate:

Thanks for your comments ST_ami7b5. Unfortunatly it won't be possible to redo all the missions, because we don't have the Fw-189, Il-4 and Li-2 in BoS.

Does anyone have a multiplayer cooperative mission yet? Looking for something I can pull apart and see how things are done.

As it is right now, as far as I can tell, missions must be saved as Deathmatch, meaning we need to assign a 'fakefield' to spawn planes.

This would be fine, except without player plane objects to assign waypoints/objectives/triggers to (since they aren't spawned until the play loads in, IE, they don't exist in the editor), the entire editor feels pretty neutered.

I'm not sure if this is just a massive limitation of the implementation of RoF's editor in BoS, or if I am just an idiot.

Idiot is always possible.

Lets try to keep this topic only for sharing the missions per se guys. Please do not hesitate to open any topic you feel you need an answer with.

@Slash I could ask for a coop mission built for RoF and send it to you, then you can at least see how it was done.

@Haash I believe RoF actually used the Cooperative flag, which would let you spawn players using Cooperative Start, and save as Cooperative, which sidesteps the whole 'fakefield' debacle we have to use.

I could be mistaken on any of this, though, and if anyone could point me int a direction, I would love them eternally. My community and I are super excited to finally get up in the air together.

The cooperative mod, in ROF, works like you build a single mission, except that you put several planes with player instead of one. So, you choose exactly where the plane is on the airfield (like you can use AI on an airfield). When you join a co operative mission, you have slot like in the Old IL2, and you have to choose the slot, and your side, and after, you have access to the map. That Mod don't exist in BoS.

For sure, that's what I thought was the case.

The issue is that (and we're talking about this in that other thread, so I apologize and we can let this die and get back on topic here) means I can't actually assign any waypoints/objectives/triggers to them, since they're not actually present in the editor, only in game, after a player join and spawns.

Mission makers, really enjoyed the missions in the OP. Its given some life to the game, and flying missions as a wingman is my preference. Because I refuse to play the campaign at pilot level 10 (and have a snowballs chance in hell of completeing anything) I have been using the QMB only for some time and the novelty had well and truly worn off there.

Much Kudos guys, this thread will be my first look see from here on in. Thanks again for sharing.

Habu, thank you for posting this mission.

One question: which one is the "waypoint for taxiing"? I only see a takeoff command, 4 flight waypoints forming a pattern around the airfield, and a land command. In my attempts at learning to use the FME, I cannot get the AI to taxi at all. They just turn to an arbitrary direction and immediately begin the takeoff run from parking. I use the Lapino map for quicker loading times for testing.

Can you please detail how you get the AI to taxi from/to parking?

Thanks

"The dat hell froze over"... Not sure about the name, but anyway, here it is TheDayHellFrozeOver.zip.

This is the first mission in a multi-player coop mini-campaign. In this first part, Germans prepare to launch an attack from Rodnik and cross the river towards Lapino. The evening before the attack, the Germans attempt to intercept ground and air resupply convoys to the Lapino and Yantar airfields.

Here come a few snaphots to give an idea of what to expect:
