Why I still dislike Il-2 CloD as a Bf109 Pilot

Recommended Posts

Anyone notice how smooth and detailed the 1080 60P encoding looks? It makes all the other videos I've watched look so fake. I'm glad YouTube included it and users are employing it. Man do I enjoy watching them. I always did but this just adds a level of realism because there are no ghosting images because of the old frame rate. SMOOTH!!!

Trained in first line.. disciplined... sometimes ;-)

When it comes to Karaya there is a lot of natural talent... we have another pilot with that, JG4_DUI. Nobody really gets what they are doing, even people that have spent way more time in CloD than Karaya and DUI... For some reason, they are just outstanding...

As for turn fighting in the Bf109E in Cliffs: I would not advise going for it deliberately but it can be done successfully, especially when adding the rolling element as the Spit & Hurri are fairly poor in regards to roll rate. I have seen many Spits go into the drink in a low level turning fight because of the fairly small margin between controlled flight & stall. And as in every dogfight really individual pilot skill plays a large role.

No matter how good the violin may be, much depends on the violinist.

However in Cliffs there simply is no reason for a Bf109 to engage in a turn fight because with its speed, climb rate & diving ability it can dictate most fights against its British opposition. It is all a matter of being patient and picking those fights you actually stand a good chance of winning.

I dont mind the FM on Clod, neither its "on rails' feeling. But the one thing that drives me crazy is the DM. Those spits just suck up way too many bullets, sometimes you get a good pass and you hit the engine/pilot but most of the time it just keep on flying full of holes throughout the whole aircraft. I dont know why, but its just with the spits, hurris/blennies go down like flies, and yet its almost impossible to set a spit on fire.

I get the feeling the Spitfire damage model may be fixed because here is something I agree with you on. I am a HUGE Cliffs of Dover fan but has anyone seen a Spitfire wing come off? I've seen tons of Hurricane wings fly off but no Spitfire wings so the fact that that happens it's like it's a bug I've fill Spitfires full of holes and they keep on keeping on

Kurt Welter's video...not mine..........You'd think a wing would come off once and a while. The one that does is a Hurricane

If you fire from dead 6 is difficult this happen, but in turn a well placed hit "saw" the Spit wing.

More difficult to happen is fire on Spit fuel tank, only ignite if hit the fuel tank are for above, in turn.

With the scrip damage is possible see that this kind of damage is modeled for Spit, as engine fire, on right or left cylinder block, but online for some reason is a rare occurrence...

Wing comes off at 1m 15s mark:

It does happen, usually when there is deep structural damage and a pilot starts pulling high G manoeuvres or loading the wing. As always though TF are on a continual journey refining and fixing CloD :)

People get obsessed at times about the Spitfires' wing strength. Yes, their wings are too strong compared to the other fighters in Cliffs but they can be brought down like any other. Hit them with MGs or cannons and you're bound to do damage. Engines will break, radiators will burst, control cables will snap, weapons will be wrecked, fuel tanks will get punctured, pilots will be gunned down,...

I'm fairly sure that the discrepancy in the strength of the various aircraft and their airframes will be dealt with in time for TF 5.0 when the RAF starts getting their cannons Spits & Hurris!
