Bf-109 F4 skins

Recommended Posts

Hello there fellow pilots,

After almost 2 months of work, I have finally completed the skin part of my Bf 109F-4 Template project.

The many hours spent researching and painstakingly remaking all the parts and layers of the template have paid off.

My goal with this skin was to make a more accurate skin template. Therefore, I have added many bits of detail that are not present on the original 2K template.

Over 320 layers with probably double the number of effects applied to these layers have resulted in a near completely new template.

You can read the whole story and find the download links to the 4K Bf 109F-4 Default skins in my skin museum.

And for those who are wondering, I have included versions both with and without Hakenkreuz.

I apologize if this has been already asked somewhere, but what is the font you guys use for the plane identification numbers? I can't, for the life of me, find even a similar one.

This is the one I use although I'm sure people use other fonts too.

Most fonts that try to copy the Luftwaffe are really nice but there is almost always something incorrect or just a bit off.

I found an image some time ago and the guy that posted it said was the official Luftwaffe font. I have been unable to verify this but it seems to be the closest to the real numbers and letters as possible.

It is always possible that planes use different letters or numbers but these should be sufficient for most.

Of course, you will need to copy/make them yourself. This is not a simple ready to use font.

Hello Szelljr,

I found this photo of the bf 109 f4 Spanish at the base of Reus and I see that your skin is missing the Spanish circular marks on the wings ...?

If you want, you could add them.   :salute:

Hello there fellow pilots,

I have added my new 4K Bf 109f-4 Max-Hellmuth Ostermann skin to my museum.

Max-Hellmuth Ostermann was part of 8./JG54. He scored a total of 102 confirmed victories of which 8 are over the western front.

He received the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross with Oak Leaves for 62 victories and later received the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross with Oak Leaves and Swords for 100 victories.

Max-Hellmuth was shot down on the 9th of august 1942 during an attack on Russian P-40's when a Lagg-3 surprised him from above.

This skin is Historically accurate.

This skin is made with my own 4K Bf 109F-4 Template.
This is not a scaled up version of my old 2k Max-Hellmuth Ostermann skin but instead a complete remake with lots of different techniques and effects.

You can find the skin in my Skin Museum.

He was shot down by Il-2 pilot.

Ostermann strafed some P-40's on takeoff, when a flight of Il-2's appeared from the clouds. Those P-40 were intended to escort those Il-2's to their target. Unfortunatly, Il-2 pilot who shot down Ostermann, was killed on this same mission over the target.

The story is correct but not the plane. The kill on Max-Hellmuth Ostermann has been rewarded to Arkadiy Sukov. A pilot from 41 IAP (41st Fighter Aviation Regiment) flying LaGG-3's at the time.

I have been unable to find any evidence suggesting that an IL-2 shot him down.

Here You are. It is from article of M.Zhirokhov and V.Dikov.

And "Sukhov" appeared from article of Dimych, wich is prooved to ba a totally fake.

*Shrug*

Why not?  Here's a fictitious skin I made for myself.  It's got my unit badges from 4./JG52, rank, and my name on there.  I jacked the color scheme from a JG4 (CLoD) video because I thought it looked rad.  I cleaned it up in the final version and removed the red stars on the tail.

I know the theater stripe is the wrong color.  Like I said, this was a fictional skin that I made for my own use.

With the latest patch they changed the default 109 f4 skin. I like so much the old one, and I wonder where I can find it.
