Vote on Steam

Recommended Posts

I just noticed that the community can now vote for a 50% discount on BoS on Steam.

Let's hope it will be the winner so more people will buy it and we'll have more flying friends!

Also the rating on Steam is at about 69%, which most of us would agree is too low. So if you have it on Steam maybe you could give it a helping hand in the review department.

Nah. Lying to consumers or forcing a score is silly.

Criticize where it is due and avoid inflating and fluffing what isn't.

It stands on its own merits or it doesn't.

Agreed, praise what you like and criticize what you don't and just be honest. Otherwise people might spend their money on something they didn't want.

Did a quick glance at the negative reviews and most of them seem honest and most also listed their pros and cons. Seems much more mature than the usual metacritic reviews. There also isn't a 0-10 scoring system which seems like a good idea, A score of 6.8 isn't that bad for userscores today since many use it for vindictive purposes. Sure I'd rate it higher but just my opinion.

Agreed 100% on user base percentage based scores being more objective and relevant.

okay. screw the steam vote then.

Let people pay full price for a High quality product.

Or is BoS ready for the Dollar bin already?

that should be a bit more accurate an expresssion of MHO...

I don't get your point... The team seemed pretty okay with doing a holiday sale on their e-store as well...

That's the Team's decision to make a rebate.

Steam puts the Vote in the hands of the user.

I rather trust the team on a 25% rebate than the userbase to lobby in order to cut the price in two.

I do not trust the users at all...

I don't care if their game sells or not, believe me...

Anywho, back to OP's thread...

(And with a group like more than half of the people that use this forum, I wouldn't trust the users either...)

Because i find that full price as decided by the devteam should be the way to go, i have remained on topic, just that i have a contrary view and offer a different perspective - also on the "more flying friends" part.

What's wrong with some of you guys ?! White Eagle just said that if some people like it, they can vote for it to get a better rate, nothing is lying there.

Somehow this topic went in another direction than I expected...

I don't know why you disagree with the "more flying friends", but I'm ok with everyone's opinion.

I just like to support the game and the developers, so that's why I mentioned the poll here.

Polling to cut the price in half is a good thing?

There must be a reason the price is so high in the first place, hm?

But now the customer gets to dictate the price if there is enough of them voting in a poll.

That's an upside down world.

That's the way i see it, so i call it BS.

and no - i been collecting dislikes and laughs since i was born.

ridicule is wasted on me.

I think the idea is that the devs are willing to cut down the price if the interest is big enough as it can generate many new sales that would never happen otherwise. It a more safe bet than a regular sale imo. I will not vote on that poll as I have already bought the game.

It's worth remembering this regarding Steam:

Q. Can I write a negative review?

A. Yes. If you are unhappy with the product, or don't believe that it is delivering on what it promises, you may write a review and tell other customers why you do not recommend it.

I'm afraid any and all criticism is fair play for the Steam platform, and rightly so. Scores of 100 are just as damaging and misguided as the low scores of 0; much better to provide a fair review than jump the hype train on both ends of the spectrum. I've noticed that the the IL2:BoS steam page isn't linked in to their Metacritic page, trying to hide something perhaps? With an average rating of 5.8 (and a mixed review on Steam!), I wouldn't bother either. :P

Well i wouldn't count the metacritic rating worth anything as it is as you described, lots of pointless 0's and 10's

That is one way to look at it. Another way is that a lot of games are on sale during Christmas, does that make all of them too expensive?

Furthermore the customer does not directly dictate the price, he only has a choice whether he wants to see one of the three games made available for a greatly reduced price at a limited time, without being able to determine that price.

I see that as a present, not as a failure on the original price.

If the Gamemakers are doing a Deal with the steam guys is one thing, a thing they have thought through, and signed and so forth.

If the community takes action to push the price down is another.

The question i ask myself is: Who should be in charge of the price? the potential Players? Or the guys that make the product?

what fills the cash box faster i do not know, but i rather have 100 interested WWII guys that play a year, than 250 people that play the game for 5 hours [unlocks... complaints...] and then put it away.

Well, the reduced price is at 50%, so the voter/Poller knows how much the result is ;) not down to the last Cent maybe...

It's like a democracy thing... if we all vote we get a half price game.

Or, a bit more rudimentary: if we all scream loud enough we get our Christmas Cookie.

That might be cool for the wallet, but isnt't it completely weird and upside down?

democracy in business...?

what about Vote with your wallet?

anyway...

it is how it is.

i should probably just accept it and keep painting skins.

I totally agree with that I'd rather have guys interested in WWII, but then again a price reduction might attract people who'd love WWII sims, but were still doubting whether or not to buy the game in addition to the other games they have.

They might fall in love with BoS, you never know  ;)

Hi mate, do you really think that steam is allowing the community to vote for a 50 % sale without an agreement with the developers ? Do you think steam put the prices they want ? Probably if BOS don't win the poll today we are going to see it at 50 % the next days anyways. That's how steam works.

You do realize it's not the steam users but the publisher of the game that put the game up for the vote? Sounds like you think players are pushing 1CGS to put it up for sale. It's an conscious marketing decision, the publisher believes they can make more money over a shorter time this way.

Maybe steam is even giving 1CGS some discount on their take from the retail price since they love their huge Holiday sales. Many people buy games during these sales just for collecting a huge game library and will never play the game.

That might be true... but i do not know for sure.

if BoS were mine, and the Steam guys would wanna sell it at 50%, that wold be fine by me - IF i get the normal amount of Cash for every sold licence.

If they wanted to make my part of the cake 50% less as well, i would, err... "wish them a merry christmas" signed by my lawyer :P

But i guess... they have some sort of Agreement concerning price politics.

But that is not my Point - my point is that the community gets a direct or indirect active role in the price development: be active in the poll, and you increase your chances for the price to go down.

that is what baffles me.

You guys are wasting time discussing it, to the game became one of 3 that STEAM will put on 50% rebate, need be popular to have sufficient voting.

The genre Combat Flight Sim/Game and popular dont mix (except perhaps WT). Or you believe that will get more votes than some zumbi game?  :P

I am convinced now that the world is filled of idiots.. The winner is a game priced at 0,79 € and that seems to be garbage that no many people is going to buy even at that price. So, if the vast majority of the people is voting only to get the sticker ? why do not vote for the most expensive or popular one ? At least somebody make use of the offer..

But don't worry guys, I'm sure that in the next days BOS is going to be at 50 % ;)

Hahahahahaha I had the second post in this thread and my post got mysteriously deleted because and I said something very similar to:

"BoS is clearly the best choice of the three here and I voted for it.

However I am doubtful of the intelligence of the average person to not vote for a game that is already $0.99 and will receive 25% off if it doesn't win and vote for something to bring it down to $0.50c"

Steam just went a little ways in to proving the average intellect is actually rather stupid and full of antisocials.

Check the steam community, a lot of people voted for it just to "piss people off".
That there is the very definition of antisocial personality.

Shame as 777/1C are the ones who potentially lose out the most, BoS deserved the extra discount and the increased income/purchases it would have likely gotten from impulse buys.

Did WhiteEagle imply that he wants people to lie? - I don't think so. He said that most of us would agree that the score is too low. He is adressing those who think the score is too low and asking them to give their opinion.
