Alright, I've found the reason for this issue:

DServer.exe crashes as soon as there's an airspawn of an AI Pe-2 ser.87 with blister turret.

Tried that several times with different mission setups, reproduceable issue.

Changing the same plane to a ser.35 one solves the DServer.exe crash.

Player plane spawns are not affected (they seem to crash on player side).

This definitely is a bug in 3.005.

Cheers!

UPDATE:

While the reproducible DServer.exe crash caused by the Pe-2 ser.87 blister turret was fixed with Hotfix 3.005b, we now have a random crash with exactly the same crash signature happening every now and then.

So far, all I can say is this:

  1. It seems to happen more often when the server is crowded, i.e. when more than 10-20 people are online.
  2. Since Hotfix 3.005b I see a new glitch in that the DServer.exe log window frequently draws...
    Unhandled SIM thread message: 60

...lines, during a night we get some 100 lines of that kind in the DServer's log window.
This line doesn't mean the server isn't working (it is, until it crashes), but that line has definitely not been seen before on our server.

Cheers!

Since there's no real feedback on this issue, I can't avoid to say that at times it is mildly annoying.

Yesterday evening we've been holding a "session" with our squad and lots of guests on our dedicated server.

All in all, it crashed 3 times during that session, once after about 40 minutes, then 16 minutes, then 18 minutes.

Since then, which is now for about 17 hours, the same server, same mission, runs without a single crash, even with higher user numbers than during the "crashy" times.

Needless to say the crashes come completely out of nowhere, with nothing special happening at all, no high server load, no spawns or anything.

I have plenty of logfiles, screenshots and stuff if any dev is interested.

I would even be happy to provide detailed debug logs if there was any way to get them.

Cheers!

Mike

I have to second that something's fishy with the MissionResaver.

I have just tried to run it on the Mission files we're using on our Server (which load successfully both in Mission Editor and in DServer), but other than "Loading <Mission file>", nothing's happening at all.

Multiplayer isn't working for me or my friend. Everytime we try and join a server it freezes the game and then we have to alt tab and close it in task manager.

I have experienced the same thing, but what I see is more specific.

Currently there are a lot of server crashes. When that happens, the dialog displayed on the client is by necessity somewhat generic, how is the client supposed to know the server has crashed.

So you're disconnected from the server, which has actually crashed, but you go back into the list of available servers, and the server is still displayed and choose-able. Now when you try to connect to it, it just stays in the 'loading' screen forever, unresponsive, and you have to use task manager to kill the sim.

For me it wont even begin to load. As soon as I click on the server it freezes the game and just shows the server list and that little circle mouse cursor but everything is frozen.

We have been experiencing the same but have found that most of us do get in after a while. Several people have suggested it is the inability of the server to admit too many people at once, sort of a queue? Have you tried low numbers of connections servers?

Same here, for me its not replicable, game freezes frequently, got disconnected (#100009), restarting game server (i.e coconut, action dogfight) is still showing in MP list, but not possible to join, later it disappears from list (server admin restart?). That very annoying thing appeared with last update.

Anyone having a lard time to connect to servers in Multi-player?

Yes, since last update I have only a 1:10 ratio :((

I get thrown out after the loading files message. I don’t get the loading picture,

then I see the cooperative/dogfight screen next

I got it with low number of players. However I never could join high number servers as Wings of Liberty anymore

Brief description: Tick delay in DServer.exe is much higher when allowSpectator = false

Detailed description, conditions:

See the attached mission

Make an SDS file to run it (dogfight mode)

Forbid spectator views

Start the mission, observe the usage graph in DServer's window. You should see it climb to 15ms or more shortly after start, with a peak at 20ms 15s after start. Note also the grey area on the graph.

Close the mission after letting it run 1min

Change the SDS file to allow spectator view

Start the mission, observe the usage graph. The grey area stays at or below the yellow line, which remains under 5ms

Additional assets (videos, screenshots, logs):

  • zip archive, which contains the startup.cfg file I'm using (with credentials removed), the SDS file (credentials removed) and the missions (either of the missions starting with CocoDyn exhibits the bad behaviour)
  • Snapshot of utilization graph from DServer (version 3.010). Left half is without spectator view, right is with them

Identical issue.

I have set the MTU on my router from 1500, down to 1450, and further to 1400 for little effect. Problem appeared with the latest update and seems impossible to predict.

That's a Server Setting ("Coalition Change Timeout"), not a Bug.

:drinks:

Mike

Did you test it?

I know what Coalition Change Timeout is. Set it to 600. After joining the server one can click (but not spawn) on the blue airfield and then click on the red airfield without any time penalty. After spawning on the airfield time penalty works when you want to change the side.

It's bug because if there are objectives on the map that are visible only to one side (and are hidden to the other side)  it's very easy see them by clicking on the other airfields just after joining the server.

It worked fine before but has been broken after some patch. Previously if a player accidentally only clicked (not spawn) on a wrong side airfield then he had time penalty right away.

Just after the latest update I've noticed that the German planes literally disappear even when within a few hundred meters when looking down from above and they are low over trees.  This may also be happening with the Russian planes in the same scenario.  I don't feel that this is a bug, but it may have something to do with the new 4K textures.  When plane is down low it should be somewhat visible.

Hopefully others have noticed this anomaly. I will try tweaking to see if I can improve this on my end, but up till the last 4k update if was fine. Planes low on the trees were hard to see but they could be seen, but now no way.

Cheers,

It happened on the WOL-Server. I was spawning in at the Tormosin Airfield (about 90% sure it was the Tormosin-Airfield). I knew a hostile plane was above since AAA was firing and the icon on the map was red; I think I saw a bomb being dropped next to me ( I wasn't sure about that, but better safe than sorry) so I immediately hit "Cancel Flight". After waiting for about 30 secs. I respawned again and started. About 30 mins. or so in my flight, out of nowhere my pilot dropped dead (no damage to the plane) and in the log it read, that I was killed and that Zeebra destroyed me (at that point I was maybe about 60 km away from Tormosin). Unfortunately no Track was recorded by me.

What I noticed: It takes about 5 seconds after you hit "Cancel Flight" for the confirmation to show up, being: "Flight Cancelled 0 Points". That would have been enough time for the bomb to explode. So maybe, as Zeebra pointed out, some instance of me remained there and got hit in some sort of Netcode-Purgatory.

Here's an idea, don't bomb spawn bases. Bomb the targets that the map builders spent hours building for the bombers to hit. And if in a fighter patrol and defend your targets or provide escort for your bombers.  Bombing is hard work.  No one wants to be killed at their spawn base.

Brief description: Player gets killed after succesful landing in multiplayer DF server

Detailed description, conditions:

After a successful and uneventful landing, players get sudden KIA message after looking on the mapscreen for a while.

It first gets the landing successful symbol (green) but after some time it changes to red KIA. The logs also reflects this as pilot being killed after a few minutes.

Starting to happen quite commonly now... so others might upvote if youre getting this too!

I have seen people post logs where it shows they landed and despawned then died ten minutes later,  sometimes they were already on a second sortie when the log for the first sortie decided they had just died (I believe it was Sheriff who posted the logs from first & second sortie to show this) .   We have been blaming the stats system but maybe it is the game itself.

I have no packet loss, my Ping is good and my download and upload speeds are very good. I enter the game using Launcher and as administrator.  Please,  can someone rectify the problem?

I have been disconnected and the game stopped working (I was in the TAW). Afterwards, I tried to enter the game and I was unable to login
