I am enjoying the campaign.  I'm about an hour into it, and despite a few annoyances, I think it has a lot of potential.

 

I'm guessing the team will allow MP access to all the extras/skins instead of coupling it to the campaign.  Who knows... that might be an incentive to fly MP.

 

The campaign lacks a "career" feel to it, but the mechanics seem to easily support the fix for that.  Then plop the tutorial into its own phase, allow custom settings, and I'm about set.

 

The maps are gorgeous, the feel of flight is fantastic, the immersion is intense. 

 

Pretty much what I think. Its getting even better over time, developers have shown IMO that they are serious about improving things. But having fun already, havent regret that joined early access :)

Am i the only one getting "server autorization" error after the update and this message? My internet is working.. Please help2akz9u.png

Must have been some kind of problem......Couldn't get into BOS yesterday with also a error message...just came back from work, started BOS and found an update available. Seems to work now.

Please no more discussion about other sims in this part of the forum. Stick to BOS in this thread.

AlexD, it was resolved in another thread, Norton blocked a file after the update. FYI

i have the same probleme ....it was working yesterday and it doesnt work today.

i do not have Norton neither

Great job devs, There are many virtual  pilots from many squadrons, which only read the forum without intervening in the discussions, who really appreciate your work with BoS.

I would only say that we're here and we find your work and your new develop approach simply amazing. 

Go on and stay sure that many pilots will be ready to take off in BoS. :)  :)

Today, on October 15th we are going to update the game server. It will be turned off from 11:00 till 11:15.

When this update is deployed your mission counter and flight time counter will be reset in the campaign.

It will not affect your in-game progress, all unlocked chapters and modifications will remain available.

Still curious to know if the formations in the campaign are going to get any more work.

 

As things stand the AI will form up if you fly straight and level at a cruise setting for long enough, but in all the formations we have now it is impossible for the leader to see the wingmen without looking far behind. In the 109s the formation keeping is particularly poor for some reason, and since rear visibility is also poor, it is quite often hard to see if anyone is following you at all. This is probably realistic for planes that flew in Vics, but not for the Axis fighters.

 

I would like to see a finger-four (or line abreast) formation for realism and usefulness in game. However I have a feeling that the AI at the moment might not be up to it without formation keeping cheats, which we do not want. Having them staggered behind the leader certainly makes direction changes easier to manage.

 

So what is the situation? Is it just too difficult to code at the moment, or is this in the pipeline, or....?

Today in update (will be in a hour):

 

1. Offline game mode was added

2. New mission type - "Intercept Attack Planes" - was added to Campaign;

3. New mission type - "Intercept Transport Planes" - was added to Campaign on 3rd, 4th and 5th stages for Soviet side;

4. New mission type - "Escort Attack Planes" - was added to Campaign;

5. HUD waypoint icons were changed slightly in Campaign;

6. Artillery positions in Campaign now have additional decorations like ammo boxes, camo nets and so on;

7. Invulnerable He 111 bug in QM Duel was fixed;

8. Bridges, buildings, facilities are now counting in Flight Statistics (comment for mission builders - they should have non-neutral country assigned to be listed in stat);

10. Static planes and trucks are now counting in Flight Statistics (comment for mission builders - they should have non-neutral country assigned to be listed in stat);

11. Player statistics now is storing during Multiplayer Mission untill rotation even if he have exited server and back again;

12. Player Campaign Statistics counter was fixed on the Pilot Profile page (previous stats had to be wiped to have correct future counting);

13. Ammunition indication on HUD was fixed in case of switching to turret and back.

By FAR the most significant development on that list is 'Offline game mode'.

That should silence many detractors (presuming it works as implied)!

Wonder if there is  plan to bring back map without radar for expert difficulty?  It really looks arcadish on realism server now.

I was wondering what the MIssion tab in the menu will be for?

 

User generated missions? or are the devs gonna create missions too?

User designed missions. There is already a mission designed by a user in the missions folder by Tatarenko.

hmmmmm...well... :russian_ru: LOFT said (hinted?) that summer and other maps, can look in game are very good...he said that "flying barans" still want to do their old love - P-39...and he said that now he just watches situation, because he did almost all what he can, and he just hopes (prays) on success of game.

 

but i dont know, that means this screenshot... :)

 

maybe, it's different ammobelts for ALL cannons in game?

 

in second post he said, that what they got before december'14, will be used as basis for their big plan for 2015, as was before, and they already have - optimistic, pessimistic, very pessimistic etc - ie raw plans at this moment...dec'14 will show all.

 

plus, he wrote something like this and before, about thoughts about future of game, somewhere in early'15...

PS and sorry, but i can't translate better...
