  1. Ah that explains lack of DDs. I was hoping for this week for something.
  2. Nice welcome aboard. You make some very good points I agree in regards to DCS compared to IL2. Just map everything to your HOTAS, you don't need the clickable cockpits. For me IL2 is the perfect combo of hardcore sim, without taking 30 minutes to click buttons and start the plane up which gets a little old especially online or when I have limited time to play at nights.
  3. Sweet! Good to see some new WW2 movies in the works, let alone WW2 aviation movies.
  4. Wow cool! I'll check that out. Any special settings you have to enable once you download these drivers or is the fps increase happen by default?
  5. Is that 1.1 SS setup in Steam VR settings or something like the Oculus Tray Tool or Open Compostite? Yes quick zoom on my thumb stick on the Warthog Throttle really helps IDing far away planes once spotted.
  6. There's a single player mission where you are a lone IL-2 starting at night and you have to try to destroy a vehicle column. Yep 7 years later it's still cooling seeing all the headlights, search lights, AAA firing at you at night. In VR it's amazing.
  7. I think that's the best part. I fly later at night when there's not many people on. Finding the action can be tough. It's cool hearing the SRS vector you to the action. Very immersive I love it. Now if my baby would just stop crying and I could fly in VR for a couple hours...
  8. I think I remember being blown away watching a video of the upcoming game back in 2013 and being amazed that the trucks left tire tracks in the snow, and their headlights worked at night.
  9. How were they used in real life? Forming up over the Channel in bad weather? Training? Communicating if their radios were out or radio silence? I'm assuming they would turn them off when closer to the enemy. Any use for them in game compared to the regular nav lights people have found?
  10. They are the formation lights. I want to say just some of the late war US and British planes have them. Had no idea these were a real thing either until I accidentally turned them on once. I don't recall any other game modeling them maybe DCS not sure. Still a nice detail.
  11. I think I own everything content wise but I'd love to gift a copy of Bodenplatte to my brother. So I'll take a copy of BoP I think he'd dig the planeset. Thank you! I don't think he's registered or made an account yet on the IL2 website he doesn't own any version of the sim yet.
  12. Wow those props look nice.
  13. Looks like a cross between an F-22 and F-35 cool
  14. It's pretty crazy they can get away with releasing those as the monthly update. Like really? That's all you've done in 1 month? No screenshots, videos, nothing? And how much money have you raised and spent? Imagine if IL-2 and Jason and the gang had 5% of that budget what they could do. Sad.
  15. Was this really what was in the Squadron 42 monthly email that just came out? I think I just deleted it haha. There is never anything super exciting in them or anything. Our IL2 weekly Dev Blogs blow their monthly emails out of the water. SC is fascinating however, I love reading about it good and bad...haven't touched it in years since I bought the cheapest ship way back in 2013 for $30.
  16. My final answer is Afterburner. *This is correct. I loved the arcade cockpit of Afterburner in the late 80s and early 90s. So much fun.
  17. As long as my Rift S still works with IL2 I don't care. Maybe I'll look at upgrading next gen VR. Love mine still.
  18. - What was my favorite air combat arcade game in an actual coin-op arcade? Name the title. Afterburner?
  19. Wow this looks cool! The cutaway of the carrier looks great.
  20. Very cool seeing some real pilots chime in here and say this is a difference maker. I agree. I've done that same thing before Syphen...and I have to relaunch the game because it feels dead to me you're right.
  21. Are there any real pilot accounts of wake turbulence in any of the old books? I would imagine German fighters diving into formations of 100s of bombers there's be some turbulence diving on those formations.
  22. I'm looking to build something simple out of some wood to sit my Obutto Ozone cockpit on top of, so I can do exactly as you have pictured and mount my VKB stick with an extension I have to the "floor" of the wooden cockpit bottom. Then just like you said remove the stick and boom, it's time to go racing! Adding some "walls" to the sides would be nice as well to mount my throttles and button boxes better.
  23. It's very early on. My guess is early 2022.
