  1. The whole map is about 350 x 350 km but the flyable area is 300 x 300 km. it isn't too big project to our team, because our 10 team members (+ me) are working with one 50 x 50 km square or more. Also 1/3 of the map is water and it needs only editing the coastlines to 1940's situation here and there. We have very precise Finnish land cover data for that work: swamps and rocks are there and we need only to edit farm field's, towns and villages to 1940's situation in Finland. We have also great old Finnish (1930's -1940's) maps (1: 20 000) from the Karelian Isthmus and all around the North area of Lake Ladoga because they were part of Finland until 1944 when the war ends here. We have Open Street Map's water land cover data but everything else is hand work: swamps, farm fields, villages, rocks etc. With those old maps it is very nice work, because it is very historical job at the same time: We are actually making a very precise "Virtual Karelia" map from 1940's. Here are couple of example maps which we use with this project. I have a HUGE old map database and the old Karelian maps are also free to download from our National Land Survey of Finland internet pages! Karelian old maps example: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1j-5OPBYUe0vlZwFA7e74w2hsFnX0jI0J Finnish old maps example: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1fozIO8EJ8_P7PVh8mwRbWxtfOYdCGDzm NOTICE: If somebody knows where we can find precise 1:20 000 Russian maps from 1930's and 1940's (Leningrad Oblast and Estonia) we really need them on next Autumn!
  2. Work is going on very good. We have 15 Finns now working mostly with the surface editing and they are creating Finnish and Karelian Isthmus countryside lanscape. The first 3D-models of Finnish countryside buildings are visible in the Mission Editor and more new 3D stuff is coming all the time. It takes at least one year more that the 300 km x 300 km map is ready done bacause we are doing this as a hobby and in our free times. But all the map making tools and methods (mostly with the Photoshop) are learned good and we can really make this map. Nothing more I can't tell...
  3. Thank you, it works! Also your tutorials has been very helful with our project, I am just making terrain textures.
  4. Hello! I am saving Great Battles lanscape carpet texture to DDS-file format. Which is the right option of that different dds-file's list? I have skinned aircrafts but they have different options with shining effects etc.
  5. Do you mean your pre subscribing for theJu88 yoke which is coming to marketing on next spring? I remember it!
  6. New color coded (Luftwaffe) knobs to switches and pots. Red knob is propeller manual pitch. Brown knobs are oil radiators and green are water radiators. Some radiators needs switch type (as Bf 110) adjustment and some needs potentiometer axes. In the front end of console black knob is gears up/down and white knob is flaps up/down. You can change knobs as you wish depending on your mapping. I can supply console also with default black knobs if you don't need color codes. Just tell me!
  7. I have wrote new Joystick Gremlin configuration software's QUICK START instructions to my Setting Up Pages: https://www.kanttorinkone.com/setup.html Joystick Gremlin is an awesome application and I really recommend to use it with my Throttle Console! "Joystick Gremlin is a program that allows the configuration of joystick like devices, similar to what CH Control Manager and Thrustmaster's T.A.R.G.E.T. do for their respectively supported joysticks. However, Joystick Gremlin works with any device be it from different manufacturers or custom devices that appear as a joystick to Windows. Joystick Gremlin uses the virtual joysticks provided by vJoy to map physical to virtual inputs and apply various other transformations such as response curves to analogue axes. In addition to customizing joysticks, Joystick Gremlin also provides powerful macro functionalities, a flexible mode system, scripting using Python, and many other features."
  8. Project page is removed. The main purpose of that page was attract attention to developers and some Russian and Ukrainia map makers but now it is done. It was also better tell to community something about our map plans that there are not coming any overlapping map projects with this. We continue our work and everything is fine but we can not tell anything more of the map production just now!
  9. The console is hand made in Finland and build from hi tech components, the price is 535 euros. More technical information from here: Kanttorin Kone
  10. Here are the new console pictures with the new 3D printed handles and extra three buttons assigned to the throttle handle. After two weeks testing I must say that they feels good and the extra buttons are very usable. I fly mostly bombers and I have mapped to those buttons briefing map, toggle to pilot/bomb sight (to same middle button) and toggle turret positions. The end cap button has TrackIR centering (up) Zoom in/out (left/right) and conventional (Russian) wheel brakes (down).
  11. Yes, Cathina and also southern Tyrkovo (Toroschkowitshi) airfield near Luga is planned to be in the south of this map. Tyrkovo was the Rudel's airbase during attack against battleship Marat in Kronstadt. There is one of our reference map when finding Luftwaffe and Russian airfields south of Leningrad. We are pinning all the airfields to Google Earth exactly to their right locations. 90% is ready...
  12. Our mosly Finnish team is big (10 members) and we have any hustle or pressure with this Finnish-Russian maps. We are mostly adult 40-65 years old men who have very much professional experience with the map tools (mostly Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator and several 3D softwares) and we have also huge amount of knowledge and interest of Finnish-Russian war time history. Most of us are also "hard core" IL-2 Sturmovik Great Battles players and we really want to create this big map to this game. It is at the same time also us nice history project, not only a gaming pleasure... I have personally made several maps to other games and I know the quantity of the work what it requires, but with this team I know we can do it. Most of all we Finns have so called "sisu" which means willpower or stamina. We don't give up very easily!
  13. Our map making team is working with the "Battle of Leningrad" map all the time. Anyway here is our first 100 km x 100km Kotka-Lavansaari map which is under work at first and just now. It is at the same time our "testing map" that we are learning the terrain making methods to this game. In beginnig of next year that Kotka-Lavansaari map above is contained to our main work which we had named as a "Battle of Leningrad" because it describes it very good. We have incereased the map much more to south and east - We have noticed that it is much more better and versatile cropping even the map is growing to huge dimesions to 400km x 350km. Thanks God there are about 30 % sea and big lakes... Leningrad and Vyborg cities 3D-buildings are combleted all the time by our 3D-modellers while the other crew is building that smaller map. We also just got our national Finnish Environment Institute to co-operate with us. Our professsional contact person there delivers us all the necessary data as elevations, water and ground cover data. it helps our huge job really much and now the map progression looks very good! I guess (and hope) that we can show the first screenshots from that small map very soon after Xmas...
