What version is the most active?

No you don't need BoS to use any of the others.

    U-2VS or Not?

You should keep in mind that except from sight seing and goofing around, it can basically just be used as a slow, light and very vulnerable bomber. So if that's your thing, then you should consider buying it. I think it's well modelled and it's worth the money.

    Me 410 and Mosquito

If we're getting a scenario the Me 410 might fit it, i'm pretty sure it will be part of the regular planeset of that expansion anyway. So while i don't think that a collector plane must've been historically present during one of the currently avaliable theaters, i don't think it needs to be added as a collector plane. Mosquito + Ar 234 would be a better fit imho.
  4. Italy is not in North Africa. And he didn't rule anything out and he mentions that he plans to do Pacific next and not do the mediterranean at that point (which was two years ago...). So like i wrote, plans can change, Pacific isn't next. Meanwhile TFS has not released anything yet (i don't blame them) and when they do release their 1940-1941 North Africa sceneario, it doesn't conflict with a 1943-1944 Italy scenario at all (whicht won't be released before 2020-2021 anyway) and if the TFS expansion will be profitable, they would have even more reason to think about the mediterranean (and i don't mean North Africa with that).
  5. No, just go ahead and post a quote from an official ruling out Italy. But even if you manage to do that (which would supprise me), plans change. Pretty evident from the fact that we're not in the Pacific yet.
  6. Interesting question. My personal interest in a Korea scenario is at 0 and i definately wouldn't buy it. I think they should add another European expansion next. I would prefer Invasion of Sicily + Italy scenario. Would work to close the gap between BoK and BoBP a bit. It could make use of some of the current planes and they could also start implementing carriers. Then they should move to the Pacific as originally planned. Then maybe they can move back to the Eastern Front, but they already spend 5 years on the Eastern Front now and that's a very long time. And i'm not sure if the current engine can just be upgraded over and over. So maybe they'll have to move to a different engine by the time they decide to go back to the Eastern Front.
  7. -1.000 = 150° 0.000 = 60° 1.000 = 30° So you basically have to create a curve diagram and extrapolate the value from that. So based on that, 80° FOV is around -0.280.
  8. I agree that the Allies could need a transport plane (Li-2 would make the most sense), but again, i doubt it will sell well enough and that more people would buy a Li-2 than the Ju 52. Maybe if it would be a combined Li-2/DC-3 release it would sell as good as the Ju-52, but that would also increase developement costs. But even then, you could add planes like the Me 410, which was used in the recon role, in addition to being a fighter bomber (and of course intercepting, even though that's probably of limited importance with the current plane set). I don't think a dedicated recon and/or spotter plane like the Storch would be very useful now. It makes more sense to add multi-role planes which would appeal to a wider audience.
  9. Imo, it would be wasted, if it doesn't turn a profit. Of course it's too early to tell, but the U-2 costs $19.99 a piece and it didn't get produced for free. This is not a charity and wanting every niche plane might make a few people happy for a short while, but in the long run it might lead to a bitter disappointment for everyone when all of the sudden no planes get released at all. Not that i would rather have another 109 or 190 than a Storch, but there are plently of planes (and i don't mean just fighters) around that imo would probably be more sucessful than a Storch. Besides that, at least for now, there's very little you could do with a Storch besides flying around a bit. So with no proper missions and mechanics avaliable, fun will wear off even for Storch fans.
  10. Or maybe just set combat power to indefinate, keep the current WEP timers and make the current continuous mode add a reserve on the current time limit. Say you fly with continuous mode for 1 minute, you get 30 seconds on top of the current WEP time limit (or some other ratio). Would probably make people fly with continuous mode even if combat power would be indefinite (without actually forcing them to do so), because you might benefit for the extra time. Would also kind of simulate the pilot trying to prevent unnecessary engine wear when they don't need combat power or full power. I'm not saying that this would be realistic.

    Do guns in FC jam?

Yes, guns "jam" (as in they can misfire) in FC and yes, you need to hit reload button to unjam them (left_alt + R by default i believe). It will automatically reload the jammed gun only, if you have more than one gun and it will also unjam both if both are jammed.
  12. I'm running 3440x1440p with a GTX 970 and get 70+ FPS most of the time in Il-2. So i think you'll be fine with your 1060 on 2560x1440 and can probably save that money or spend it on a better monitor. I personally wouldn't consider a monitor with TN panel or without G-Sync (but then i don't expect to switch to AMD anytime soon). VA panels are OK but i pefer IPS myself.
  13. Complete nonsense. You can fly for 50 minutes at 100% easily. I think you're confusing ATA with ATM.

    Thread to gather your suggestions

Type of improvement: Controls.Explanation of proposals: Separate key assigments to feather propellers Benefits: Right now, if you want to feather a propeller, you need to select that engine only, then feather the propeller and then unselect the engine and select the engine that's still running. It would be way more convenient to have seperate controls so you can easily feather a propeller by pushing one button. It's less complicated and you would no longer run the risk of feathering the wrong propeller (or both propellers) by mistake and you wouldn't need to switch back and forth between engines.
  15. I'm not aware of any times limits for the Fw 190 D-9 or Me 262. Some Jumo manual states 30 minutes for combat power, but i'm not sure if that would apply to the Jumo in the Fw 190 D-9 we're getting. P-51 should have 5 minutes WEP and 15 minutes combat power. Couldn't find anything for the P-38, atleast the manuals which i could find do not specify time limits. However, i did not spend a lot of time on that. So based on what i could find so far and if the devs go by operating manuals (which the devs are not doing, even though some people here assume that and seem to enjoy it) : Fw 190 D-9: WEP until MW50 runs out, possibly 30 minutes combat power. Me 262: Full power until fuel runs out. P-51: 5 minutes/15 minutes (neither recoverable, if we go by operating manuals). P-38: WEP until fuel runs out. Again, this is all what i could find for now, so it's probably not correct. And i'm assuming none of this will actually happen (except perhaps for the Me 262) like this.

Which DM do you like more - before 3.008 or after?

If 30mm is only 2.5 times as powerful as 20mm that would explain things. Because it should be almost 4 times more powerful. If by more powerful, the weight of the HE charge is meant (which i'm assuming it is).

Which DM do you like more - before 3.008 or after?

Damage by AP is better now, damage by HE needs to be stronger overall, especially blast damage. So i don't vote for either. Also incendiary rounds need to be added.
  18. Thank you very much Gruber. I just didn't know that you can double click on the buttons in this white field and change the assignments, modes, shifts and delays that way. I was looking in the other menues to change this and just couldn't find anything. Now it's obviously very easy to adjust this.
  19. Yes, that's basically what i would like to do. Have the mode selector modify the switches on the panel. I just can't figure anything out with the software (and i was comfortably using the Target script editor, which probably says alot about the current state of the Virpil software...). Also to add a con for the throttle: When both throttle levers are connected, the connection is not tight enough to prevent wobble. So you can move the left lever a bit without moving the right never and vice versa. Not by a lot, maybe 1-2 mm or so, but it's enough to annoy me a bit. It doesn't effect the ingame axis though, because when you connect the throttles, only one physical axis is being registered for both axes you bound ingame (pretty smart feature). So it's only a tactile issue.
  20. Any chance you can use this template as a base for the G-series 109? I know there are already templates around for those planes, but i would just prefer to have them all from the same person, because it just gives a more even look ingame. Not sure if it would be too much work though.

    Fw190 seating height

Because the hardware requirements and subsequent performance drop for accurately modelling refraction did not change in the last four years either.
  22. I use the brake lever on my MCG stick and before that i was using a button on the Warthog and Gladiator stick. You just control direction with the rudder pedals. I actually think it's easier than using toe brakes. I had the Crosswinds before, also great. But i wouldn't go back, unless i had some extra space or room to mount the pedals. That's the main advantage of the VKB pedals, they rest in a small drawer of my desk when i don't use them. The Crosswinds (and basically all other pedals besides the VKB) just use up a lot of space when you don't need them.
  23. VKB T-Rudders are great. Very sturdy, precise, don't use up much space and very comfortable to use. The lack of toe brakes is not an issue for me.
  24. The time limits mentioned are for the stated manifold pressure RPM. So if you use a lower RPM and/or manifold pressure but the game still counts it as "emergency power" (or other mode) you can fly for longer until the limit is exceeded. Anyway i have to take back what i wrote earlier this year about random damage. I think adding a randomness would immediately result in a staggering number of topics and "discussions" about their engine failing more often than other engines etc. We already have that in practically all other areas that are not even random. I don't think the devs are happy with the current model, but i guess there's just no time to improve on it for now. With the recent BoBP plane releases things got even worse than before (some people switching between WEP and combat power all the time, while others are jumping between three different power modes and all that until a "xx mode recovered" and similar messages pop up on the screen) and i think it should now practically comes down to adding a setting which deactivates the time limits entirely. If people are so concerned that this has an impact on MP (i still don't see how, because you can already run WEP during air quake and still wouldn't be able to run WEP all the time on more realistic mission durations), then the server admins can decide to keep these limits activated.
  25. Did anybody figure out how you can make use of the mode selector besides changing the buttons B1-B8? The documentation says "coming soon" (how long has the throttle been available now?) and by looking at the software, i don't even know where to start and what does what.
