  1. Tacview 1.8.0 is now available to everyone! Download: http://tacview.net/download Release Date: Fri, 6 Sep 2019 Operating System: Windows® 32-bit / 64-bit File Size: 293.0 MB This year, I worked closely with military partners to improve Tacview for real-life playback and debriefing. Most of these improvements are also relevant to flight simulators and are now available to everyone in this brand-new release. This includes better support for small and big screens, more UI modularity, the possibility to display local time (at last ;)), as well as a new tool to measure distance between the selected object and any other object or even a point on the ground. I have also been working hard to improve performance, notably the loading speed of custom textures. Thanks to the help of my partner BuzyBee, numerous airports and maps are now included in Tacview distribution, Tacview database has been greatly extended, and many 3D models have been integrated. This simplifies the installation process by reducing the need to download and manually install add-ons and asset packs for debriefings. Right now, I am focusing more on Tacview 2.0. So, if you feed a slow down in Tacview 1.x dev, this means that Tacview 2.0 is progressing faster  I am currently working on the core engine which is starting to run on all platforms from cell phones to computers. This first step takes some time, but it is also important, because this will establish a clean base on top of which the rest will be built. The next step will be to port most of Tacview components to the new engine: internal tools, telemetry recorder, installer. Then I will start rewriting Tacview main application. Enjoy! 3. Thank you for the feedback Plank! I am happy to see how you are enjoying Tacview. I thought about your question concerning the trails. I may add an option to keep the trails after death in Tacview 2.0. As for the explosions, they are injected by IL-2 in the telemetry data. We should be able to create a Lua addon for Tacview, you will be able to use to remove them or reduce their occurrence.
  4. Hi FlyingNutcase I have just tested with IL-2 v3.012c and it has generated a proper *.acmi file in a sub folder of my IL-2 install. By default, I needed to press LCtrl+R to trigger data recording. At that point I can see the little red camera icon in the top right corner of the screen. As Plank suggested, if you have redefined the default control used to trigger trk files recording, you will have to press your own key combination. Side note: The “ACMI Files Recording Folder” does not have any effect on IL-2 series. IL-2 records all the acmi files in its own folder “\IL-2 Sturmovik Battle of Stalingrad\data\Tracks\”
  5. Hi everyone, TL;DR: Due to data limitations, the AOA readings in Tacview, when using IL-2, may indeed be inaccurate. I would like to point out several facts about the AOA displayed in Tacview: IL-2 does not directly export any AOA (cockpit reading or real AOA) The data recorded by IL-2 contains only latitude, longitude and altitude. They come from IL-2 “flat world” coordinates. Which means they are distorted in Tacview spherical world; inevitably leading to discrepancies when values like speed, AOA and so on are calculated by Tacview. In addition, as previous outlined by some of you, there is an incidence angle error to consider. In the current state of IL-2 data export capability, Tacview is very efficient to analyze tactics and piloting. However, if you want to check the accuracy of IL-2, it should be done in-game only to ensure there is no possible conversion error in the equation.
  6. Thank you very much for the follow-up. That said, this is strange because you do not need to have Tacview installed to record IL-2 flights… Maybe that was a bug in IL-2 which has been quickly fixed. Anyway, I am glad that everything is working fine for you now.
  7. Tacview 1.7.6 is available Download: http://tacview.net/download Release Date: Thu, 21 Mar 2019 Operating System: Windows® 32-bit / 64-bit File Size: 269.0 MB This intermediate release brings a lot of fixes and improvements requested by both the community and professional users. While I am focusing more and more on the development of Tacview 2.0, it is going to take some time before we can put our hands on a first beta version. Meanwhile the Tacview 1.8.0 is already on its way and will continue developing further the capabilities required for professional military debriefings, like a brand-new real-time shot log which will eventually replace the aged flight log. Tacview 2.0 conception phase is still open, so feel free to share your ideas and suggestions here. Even if everything single whish may not be granted, be assured that I am always taking all your feedback in consideration. Fly safe! 9. Hello Sudkan, I finally had the time to test and the data recording is working fine for me with IL2 3.012 in single mission as well as in career mode. I launched the default Russian carrier and when I press LEFT.CTRL+R, I can see a little red camera in the top right corner of my screen. As soon as I end the flight, I can see a valid acmi file generated in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\IL-2 Sturmovik Battle of Stalingrad\data\Tracks\ Maybe IL-2 crashed during your flight and was not able to generate a valid acmi file? Is there any track file generated for your flight too?
  10. It looks like a limitation of IL-2. It's a shame, because I bet that the acmi file is still quite small compared to the track file when this happens. Like you guessed, the only solution for now it so stop/restart the data recording time to time to split it in several files.
  11. The free version will not expire, you can use it indefinitely. It is just that some of more advanced features (like the online-debriefing), will simply be disabled after 21-days.
  12. There is currently no summary of shots and hits. I have planned to do so in a later update, certainly for Tacview 2.0. For now, the closest data available are the shot/hit visible in the event log window.
  13. No, in general, it is not necessary to uninstall a previous version of Tacview when installing a new one. That said, I believe there was a version number bug in the installer of one of Tacview 1.7.x versions (a mix between beta and non-beta folders). If you notice a strange behavior, then you may want to uninstall any previously installed edition and then reinstall the latest version (your settings will be preserved).
  14. My apologies for the issue. In fact, I just had the same problem as you! I believe this is a bug on the store. I think it has been fixed because I can now see the sale. Can you retry and tell me if this is working for you now?
