  1. So I managed to get in contact with a Virpil engineer who helped me out. Basically explained that this is working as intended. The encoder rolls in one direction, and if you change the direction, it drops a click and continues in the other direction. To be honest, it's not very well designed as my unit drops clicks even moving in the same direction from time to time, or it'll register 2 at once, but meh. I really wish Virpil would have simply used smaller dials for these buttons as click-based encoders that must only be turned in a single direction to register reliably are totally useless.
  2. So after playing around, I have been able to remedy some of my previous issues for sure. However, I have found that the 3 encoders at the bottom (E1, E2, and E3) function oddly and do not reproduce a "button press" with every click. As in, if I click through 5 rotations, it may only register 3... I've brought this up to Virpil...they suggested I open a ticket. A number of people on Reddit say their throttle has the same thing, so if that is the case that this is intended, I'd have to say this would be my second dislike. Makes them fairly useless in my mind.
  3. Welp, just got mine in the mail today. Paid $69 CAD for import fees. Ive had worse, but the state of Canadian international trade sucks. In any event, I had to oppurtunity to set up the throttle in both Xplane 11 and IL2. Heavy throttle...the quality is evident: steel construction everywhere. Didn't even really require any drivers which was lovely. The cable is able thin and braided which is LOVELY. Coming from an X55 that had a very thick, heavy cable, this is actually a very nice feature. I chose the smooth grip and I think it both looks and feels better than the pi
  4. I see you're also in Canada. Considering it's November, and almost Christmas, this is enormously expensive because the EUR to CAD conversation is killer, plus I'll probably have to pay import taxes on it, but if it's a quality throttle and I'll have it for years and years, and possibly be able to sell my X55 now that I no longer use the throttle from it...I can make some money back and it'll be worth it. Cost me $542.00 CAD before the possibility of import taxes. Ultimately, if you can wait until they re-open an American store, that'd be good too, but I see they cancelled the proje
  5. Glad I saw this post; I wasn't notified either. Unfortunately...I can't pay though...it's declining all my methods... Edit: Looks like it accepted my Paypal after I unlinked it from my Visa card. Unfortunately, paypal gave me a horrible exchange rate... 0.64 instead of 0.67...
  6. I have heard that the one unfortunate aspect of the throttle is the short travel distance of the actual throttle units. Can anyone with the product already comment on whether or not this is really noticable? I'm coming from an x56 throttle which I find stiff even on the softest travel settings.
  7. Do you not play on max graphics because this seems like an odd take to me, but I' dunderstand it if you're playing with low quality mirrors.
  8. He's just gonna post a picture of Gal Gadot. Which I'd accept as a valid DD...
  9. I love the 80. I love planes. When they come together,... Beautiful.
  10. I cannot use the E7 because the bind for the oil rad is the same as the stabilizer on my hotas and I have no other appropriate binding for it. No one cares about this but me, but I find this kind of funny. And annoying. That is all.
  11. I did not think such a study level sim feature would be modelled but apparently it is?? I dunno... No real answers, just inferences that people saying it's not are wrong. He'll if it is, bravo. That's impressive. Putting that aside, in regards to planes floating forever, I think people underestimate how aerodynamic these planes are; even by today's standards these things are hot rods. Cessna's have like 200hp and its designed like a stuka.
  12. I own the VKB gunfighter and MCG non-pro. I have also done a video review of my first impressions about a day after I got it. I mean to do a second video now that I've owned it for almost 5-6mo but I've found that my stick or base (can't determine which) has a pretty serious defect in which button number 9 ( the thumb trigger) activates unintentionally with right roll. Obviously this is pretty annoying as in IL2 i use it for firing cannons only and it gives you away when you're trying to bounce people... I've tried taking it apart and hardware modding/repa
  13. I am finding with recent changes to "meta", the plane in the lower energy state has the advantage typically. I called it "slippery fish" the other night on WoL. Can't watch the video now but I'll be very interested in checking it out after work.
  14. That individual is apparently a big name in DCS. It's likely they made sure he got his first.
  15. Oh, I also noticed when running on combat, the thing heats very quickly. I have to 100% the cowl. The A5 can remain within threshold with 25% for me usually.
  16. Excellent to know. Thanks. Personally, I'll be flying the A8 because the skins for it are gorgeous 👸
  17. Don't know if you're referring to something more serious, but all 190s suffer from a power drop between 2400-2700 before the supercharger shifts gears IIRC. It's best to stay out of the 2k range when in 190s.
  18. In my testing of the A8, I didn't find it particularly slow...but I didn't really test. I noted it's climb felt poor, and it had a STRONG desire to nose down. I needed like +60 trim to fly level with anything equipped. It was also useless with panzerblitz equipped. I spent 2 days trying to capture footage for my recent video and spent most of it crashing into things with the rocket racks equipped...I would suggest just bombing tanks instead. Or Mk108'ing them and using the A8 like a better Hs129.
  19. Nope. I'm assuming they use the same logic in VR as they do for their default positions.
  20. The default head position is in my opinion too far forward. I always shift it back against the head rest. The position in German planes is also set to line up with the crosshair, not the centre of the cockpit so I fix that too. Position is plane dependant.
  21. Dual engine planes that do not have opposingly torqued engines like the P38 and Hs129 have the left engine as the critical engine meaning the right engine has less load as it is assisted by the torque of the engine to its left. I am impressed that is modelled though...
  22. I wasn't trying to be rude. Wingman is a catch-all solution for almost everything of course. Unforunately, I can't use mic/comms until I move to a new location! Yes, the 190 seems a rather difficult craft to fight with. I've noticed the flyers who are typically Russian seem to have developed quite a successful meta around the 190. Some months ago when I only flew German, the Russians didn't handle the 190 in quite the same way. Thanks. This was very insightful. The frustrating thing is when I fly Russian, I often feel Germans do this and get rewarded. Hard to
